  • I think I saw this when I was like 2 and it stayed deep deep in my mind. Which explains why I'm such a weirdo

  • pretty cool

  • thank god for the genius at sesame street who is exposing kids to the musical masters like bela and buddy rich

  • @ptanenbaum I think Buddy Rich played with the Muppets.

I didnt find him playing on sesame street.

  • @DuxJerome

you're right i get them mixed up. but my point remains the same

  • I can't believe they didn't have the Count come and count the banjo strings - after all, the Count was modeled on another Bela!

  • When did this air?

I saw him a yr or 2 ago, hands down the BEST acoustic picking live I have EVER heard/seen.

  • Bela ist der grösste Banjopicker aller Zeiten!

  • Im gunna call it... "FAKE"

  • @luckyjinxer Agreed. Those chickens were lip syncing for sure.

  • He should have played Cluck Old Hen!

  • Maybe chickens and banjo have a connection...

  • i want his job

  • Now can we finally put to rest the rumor that Bela's playing is for the birds?

  • Boooo.

  • Oooo really? tssssssss...mmmmmm...

  • At 0:51, was did Bela Fleck pull off of that chickens head? I wonder if it was a little feather. Whatever he pulled off of the chickens head, it looked like it hurt the chicken because the chicken shook a little as soon as he pulled it off, and then the chicken looked at him saying something like "that hurt."

  • he picks below the bridge to create the "plucked hair" sound

  • Thank you. I didn't know that he was sitting above a bridge (To me it looked like he was sitting on some stairs which are located in the courtyard of Sesame Street). He must have hidden his right hand behind the other chicken and used his right hand to play one string on his banjo while pretending to look like he pulled something off the chicken's head.

  • Bela Fleck did great on this skit and I did see him smiling a little bit here but, perhaps if he gave a bigger smile, the audience would've loved him even more. But he still played the banjo great here.

  • he is the best .
