  • Strange. This is 'taking the piss' out of the army system rather than enforcing it. A satire rather than propoganda

  • i thought Donald will land on Omaha beach:D

  • colour is the british english where american is color

  • Interesting

  • nice propoganda

  • How is this in any shape or form "propaganda"? It's clearly a satire.

  • Luckily he wasn't sent on front

  • Did you notice the 90s-early 2000s style Disney logo at the bottom right of the screen???? When did Disney show this on TV???

  • @GirlofanAlchemist123 Originally May, 1942

  • I can't hear a word he is saying. He's speaking alien :D

  • i allways thought walt disney made nazi properganda films in the war???

  • @ausloverxo Nope, American and anti-Nazi but Disney was friends with the director of triumph of the will director of Leni Riefenstahl.

  • what colour is this red car?

    Red

    And this green one?

    Blue

    BLUE? that's close enough

    hahaha :D

  • @Langotriel1 card*

  • @Langotriel1 "card", not "car".

  • @Rachegotter i know.. typo..

  • @Langotriel1 color, not colour.

  • @xbon1 in america, yes... In england, no. Flavour. Colour. Metre. .. they spell things differently...

  • @Langotriel1 There is only one spelling.

Flavor, Color, Meter. Learn to spell.

  • @xbon1 didn't i just explain it?... it is spelled differently in other English speaking countries

  • @Langotriel1 No it's not, your explanation is bullshit.

  • @xbon1 Get it through your thick skull: Some words are spelled differently in other English speaking countries.

    ...And I'm AMERICAN.

  • OMG a naked duck at 3:37!

  • and no one questions the duck dressed like a sailor applying for the army?

  • ive always believed that ww2 was the last necessary war that we've had

  • poor donald, they should've given him an M1 carbine instead of that 1903 with the bayonet.

  • hes in the army air corps idiots, the helmet says it all

  • the ant got only 4 leg

  • the thought of democracy is a very good one but the human race is not prepared to make it reality it will allways be the corrupt at the hot seat

  • @GummyBrains Oh - but you could as we all see, dumbass

  • I don't know if I'd call this a propaganda cartoon. Honestly, it shows more the reality of the recruitment process at the time. Show glitz and glamor, loose qualification standards, then they show the reality.

I still have the entire "Officer and a Duck" VHS sitting in my room as we speak. It's actually the reason I still own a VCR, to be honest. Some of the best Donald Duck cartoons to date.

  • @thebrentsharp

I've always been surprised they left "Commando Duck" off that tape. I guess it was because of the racist Japanese caricatures, but it's strange because many of those old 1980s VHS releases were pretty loose about that kind of thing. Stuff that got edited out on TV showings were usually left in. I guess Commando Duck was considered a bit much, though. I'd never even seen it until YouTube came along.

  • For the Arny's Not The Army Ani-More~ ~ ~

don't know why but i just love the song

  • @GummyBrains God bless the fact he doesn't exist.

  • "Blue? That's close enough."

    Favourite line.

  • as noted you Americans do not really know how to advertise because I am Russian

  • como se nota que ustedes los norteamericanos ya no saben como hacer propaganda verdad porque yo soy ruso

  • that song in the beginning is badass lol what is it?

  • American democracy isn't much better than german nationalism. If you wanna know what i mean see Zeitgeist movie.

Remember, americans love money from democracy, not democracy indeed.

  • @PanLadnyPL The US government is so corrupt, I wouldn't even really call it a democracy anymore. I love America, except for the politics.

  • What the fuck...

  • Ant was being a bitch.

    poor Donald

  • I think the"point" of the cartoon was that wearing the uniform is about service to your country, not your own glorification.

  • He's a marine?

  • O.K - stood for zero kills in WW2..... =/

actully, it wasn't change untill after the war...

  • It almost seems to be against the military xD

  • Ok, I'm pretty sure Donald was in the Navy...

  • @TerrySloane i see what you did there

  • How is this propaganda? It seems more like a parody of military propoganda (though I know Disney did make some propaganda cartoons).

  • he does know that hes already got his wings right :P

  • @GummyBrains Oh yea, you mean the system where majority rules? And since we all know that majority of ppl is stupid... Amazing system :). Today's democracy has nothing the system that founders of USA had in mind...

  • @GummyBrains The US is a Republic, and thank God it is

  • weird

  • Blue? Close enough.

    XDDD

  • @GummyBrains yes. and screw capitalism.....

  • Omg... I now remember watching this when I was little!

  • what color is this green card? "blue" that's close enough. XD

  • I need the intro song

  • Breakfast in bed? so that's what they call trenches and barracks in WW2.....

  • @GummyBrains

Yeah, especially since the church and religion did their BEST to STOP it.

In a world where the church would have maintained their power we'd still be living in a feudal world thank you very much. The way people saw it was that kings and emperors were chosen by God to lead the people.

Democracy started when the power of religion and the church dramatically lessened.

Btw, "God" doesn't want democracy, God wants blind faith, which sounds more like dictarorship to me.

    Fool.

  • @McLarenMercedes God doesn't want a democracy, He wants a monarchy where the leader is appointed by God to destroy His enemies and secure His kingdom.

  • quite ironical when he's actually wearing a sailor suit that he would like to fly which would be like the opposite of sailing

  • Isn't this a satire?

Nowbody would want to join after this... so it can't really be propaganda.

  • american media= 1OO% Propaganda! This is timeless truth. :-]

  • @SecretLegionsPL This was made to discard the Axis during the war against the Nazi Germany. Both side make propaganda side to discard each other. After all, this film was made to boost morale and patriotism among Americans at that time to get them recruit into military.

  • @GummyBrains Don't forget that Democracy is not perfect. It is just the best type of government humanity has had so far.

  • @MrInfinite09 1) What criterion defines "best?" 2) Where is the evidence? Democracy is from Greek antiquity. Analyzing the trends following the defeat of Persia after the Persian War: the establishment of the Delian League, the moving of the central bank from Delos to Athens and the mounting imperial power of Athens was certainly a "Golden Age" for democracy but perhaps other poli felt different; result: the Peloponnesian War. Consequence: history shows civil war is always worse than foreign.

  • @kinakem The Standard on which i judge the "best democracy so far" is our own, the Democracy practiced here in the United States of America. And agree with you second point, the United States right now is experiencing sectionalism, but that is most of the time healthy to democracy, but this is off topic.

  • @MrInfinite09 Fair enough. Cool. Without digressing I am going to assume then, given you being here on this post in particular, that you're NOT a mainstream mass media/government zombie apologist. So what you mean by practiced here in the USA is as originally INTENDED to be practiced i.e. constitutional republic as opposed to how it is actually practiced at present? Because... I mean... let's be serious... sure it's called a "democracy" because people go out and vote... but... really...

  • @kinakem As originally intended to be practiced; democracy is not very healthy today, there are many reasons as to why, the main one that i cling to is that the Education system is not getting enough funding and in a democracy like ours educated citizens are crucial; but like i said there are many reasons.

  • @MrInfinite09 First things first. Read about people that invented "that" democracy that USA is supposed to have. The founders of USA - they knew that their system is for people who believe in God. For people that have some moral values. Right now they lost it and their democracy is slowly turning into facism/communism crap. Their congress is bought.

  • @MrInfinite09 I wouldn't say the best. Maybe the best socially but economically and safest it is one of the most flawed systems ever.

  • @GummyBrains there should be a magocracy, if everyone has a voice, the really ignorant and stupid people, which are plenty also have a voice, and China is communisit, but they are leading in the world now...though perhaps not on life quality, nevertheless, they are a over 4000 year old civilisation, perhaps they aren't that bad.

  • @gaoth88 so.... what are u sayin?

  • @manahanalex123 I am saying that if you allow the masses to vote, you get a game of "who is most popular" rather than who is truly best for the country. I know a Magocracy is corruptible, but then again so is every country. and about China, they are perhaps the oldest culture on earth, and they are still managing their own. so they must be doing something good. if compared to the states, which have nearly no cultural history, only a legacy of warfare. but that's another story.

  • @gaoth88 aaahhh... so u said. but one more question tho; Do we have wizards in the congress too!? :D

  • @manahanalex123 hahahaha, many people make that remark, it would be awesome, but Magi means as much as wise men, sages if you will, I have also read about a Technocracy, where engineers would be in charge, since they often think in a problem solving way...I however don't think they are much of people persons...in general that is. :)

  • @gaoth88 I agree. We physicists are way more smooth than engineers; we got style. lol

  • @kinakem XD

  • He is wearing a navy suit, but is going in the airforce,

    *Brain explodes*

  • @Boohish there was no "air force" in world war 2 it was the army's "air corps" that took the skies, but the navy also owned planes so was probably a navy pilot

  • @Boohish nevermind my early statment

  • @Boohish There was no Air force at this time, there was the Army-air corps and the navy air corps.

  • Fuck the USA

  • @MisterKillerkopf fuck you

  • @Egobenesum. Isn't Donald already in the

    Navy?

  • @GummyBrains what IS democracy exactly?

  • I think he should go to the navy!

  • I didn't know the US army used to recruit ducks! Amazing...

  • @DrCarl esp ducks in navy suits.

  • @GummyBrains the problem with tdemocracy is that ANYBODY CAN BE IN POLITICS. not just geniuses or very smart people. nope, rednecks too, racists too.

  • "I wanna fly!" nyaw

And as for those bullets>> haha

  • "I wanna fly!" nyaw

  • Anyone else notice how when his top was taken off he covered his crotch, yet he never wears pants?
