As an American, I am incredibly grateful to your son for his service and sacrifice. I has and will cost him more than possibly only his wife and you will know. Thank you instilling in him that amazing sense of duty, humility, and the willingness to give his all for another. I suspect a strong spiritual foundation at work. As my four sons grow into young men, I will share the stories of their grandfather's service in Iwo Jima and Bataan, and that heroes still remain. God Bless!
A song I heard recently comes to mind when I hear about this brave man, "I am the free, they are (he is) the brave" All of our soldiers are heroes to me. A few, like SSgt Guinta stand out from the crowd.
And we salute you for raising such a fine son. It's indeed an honour to hear the same words being repeated over and over again, it wasn't a singular act, it was 'team, team, team'. Your son is indeed a worthy recipient of the nation's highest honour.
What lovely people. Sal, buddy, no offense to your old man, but I hope you inherited your follicles from your mother.

The Army makes no distinction as regards hyphenated-Americans, so your assertion is gratuitous and specious.

The actions of S/Sgt. Giunta and the late SFC Jared Monti prove that Italian-Americans are not the cowards their European cousins are.
