When someone is coming at you or you're coming at someone they are most likely shooting at your upper body, it's bad enough recoil on a gun fucks up your aim (kind of making it go upward) so if you're smart enough to drop shot by crouching or laying down, it's more effective. I drop shot 24/7, a lot of MLG players I know do it too. It's definitely not a noob tactic.

@Techfalled15 There is nothing wrong with the hit detection...maybe you just need to select the right gun for the job. As far as map design goes...they are a 100 times better than modern campfare 2. At least these maps have proper choke points and limited campfest areas. Just because you can't noobscope, quickscope, no-scope, hard scope, bumboy scope anymore, no need to take it out on me. Get back to MW2 with the rest of the noobs. I'd take a balanced game with better map design any day.
