PS: dont take "shit" seriously xD

  • i dont have "primary ide... and secondary ide..." any advice?

  • Thank God for the mute feature!!!

  • does it work with windows 7 ultimate?

  • I don't have "gpedit.msc" I've got windows xp

    HELP!!

  • @MegaBarteq i had the same problem too . . you can download it on

    mediafire(DOT)com / ?55fd2hz7c3bkqlr

remove the spaces on the slash and replace the (DOT) with a dot.

    have fun using it!

  • @ThePrayingMantis08 do you take drugs??o___0

  • not buyin it

  • N00b, if this made your computer boot up time 200% faster that would be the same as 3 x faster.

    50% faster would be 1.5 x faster

    100% would be 2 x faster

200% would be 3 times faster

  • @Lightningfox360 He probably meant 200% it's original speed.

  • i've got home premium so "gpedit.msc" does not exist..any alternatives??

  • gpedit.msc is not available for windows 7 :(

  • @robin9080 yeah it is...i have windows 7 ultimate and i have gpedit.msc

  • @darkjs93 no

  • Nice! better than i thought!!

  • Tried it for the first time and am happy with the results

  • p.s it's not 200% better its more like 47% better (just saying no argument)

  • sorry 53%

  • @hog242 Haha nice Calculation.

  • i dont get the point. xp and seven boot very fast, only reason to make a video like this is for the unfortunate vista users who dont know how to install os's and replace vista.

  • i started doing this and then i got an assload of viruses, lucky norton blocked em

  • @Mags1722 Wtd u talking about, How is any of these files a virus 0.0

  • dunno, but seconds later, norton kept saying that it was blocking trojans and some other viruses i never heard of.

  • @Mags1722 Woah, Very odd. But I can 100% Assure you none of these files are viruses.

  • yo at step #7,8,9

i have 2 primary IDE c hannels and 2 secondary IDE channels

is that bad? and which one i change the settings to? o.o HELPZ

  • You shouldn't need to change these type of settings. You might not even be using an IDE drive.

  • Man I tried to fix my two sisters computers, but theirs is XP and that gpedit will not work on xp. I guess it only works on windows vista and windows 7.

  • @d789b The OS in the video is Windows XP

  • I ment that as in , its never been put on youtube yet.

  • haha.. ok then

  • @Ballplayer300th XD lol

  • does this work for/with windows 7 cuz i have windows 7 and xp so does it work on both of these pm me

  • Hey man Whats your theme I THINK U USED Windows xp in this tutorial

  • Actually this script deletes the files in the prefetch.

  • How much percent does that add to the speedup time?

  • hey can i do this without using administrator acc?

  • nope you need admin rights for it to work

  • hey dude is this only for XP vista because i have a vista?

  • does this only work on xp?

  • Wow, ur a dumbass. WindowsPRfetch!!! If you didnt know prefetch is a file sotred with some junk that windows cleans out. But using a script is way faster thus makes your computer faster. get your facts straight dumbass

  • what kind of windows do u use??

    its look cool..

    ^_^

  • i think its windows 7

  • "del c:windowsprefetch tosboot-*.* /q"

mm. yes...it ''speeds" up doesn't it? don't you guys/gurlz see the ''del'' part?

  • Well actually when I made this vid I didnt really fully know wut I was doing. but after thinking Del Windowsprefetch is fine. I think they are using the scripts delete win prefetch instead of Windows's way of deleting it.

Prefetch is a file which stores some stuff u want to delete :P Windows does it for you but here there is a shutdown script to do it. It is aster than Windows's way.

    So it sfine

  • yes its meant to clear out all files starting with tosboot- . in the windowsprefetch tosboot folder. Not that doing this would realistically gain any speed boost.

  • when i type gpedit it doesnt work

  • type gpedit.msc

  • gpedit.msc isn't included in the home versions of xp or vista

  • can someone tell me what is his theme called?

  • Or you could just ask me? Google "Windows vista live visual style for xp".

  • what theme are you using?

it's kool... if u got a link for it plz let me know

    thx 4 the vid.

  • no offense but it looks like it would delete your bootup

  • Nope

  • I'm curious as to what exactly this does besides make your PC boot faster. I suppose a better question would be: How does this make your PC boot faster?

  • Well by deleting prefetch files you probably won't gain much speed unless there are a lot of programs you got rid of recently.

The IDE fix seems sort of irrelivent as you could be using a SCSI or SATA drive (which use different settings).

  • i Couldnt find gpedit.. what do i do at that part..?

  • go to start-> then run -> then type gpedit

  • gpedit.msc will only work in the pro versions of windows.

  • metro station :D

  • what about xp home edition?xp home edition don't have group policy

  • i created the batch file .....

    when i opened the gpedit.msc

i opened computer configuration but there was no scripts tab .....

well i dont know what to do :/

  • does it work wiv vista??

  • no, or maybe. Im gonna have to try that.

  • Actually it works For All Xp Versions....Gpedit Was Probably Deleted By An uninstaller .... Its Pretty common in Xp.

  • lol never had that happen to me before

  • Windows cannot find 'gpedit.msc'

    im on xp home?

  • no its only on win xp pro.

  • whats the song?

ive heard it but dont remember the name and artist

  • In the beginning.

    Control

    Metro Station

  • where do you get the theme ill subscribe if you tell me

  • So the trick is 1) to delete the prefetch boot information at every shutdown and 2) to disable IDE auto detection for positions where no IDE drive is installed?

    Comments:

    I. What's the relation between prefetching and IDE auto detection?

II. Why not just disable (boot) prefetching all together, so you won't have to delete a bunch of files at every shutdown?

III. You're missing three backslash signs (\). The batch command ought to be: "del c:\windows\prefetch\tosboot-*.* /q"

  • i agree, and whats the difference between backslash (\) and forward slash (/) ? iv'e always wondered that but nobody really knows! =(

  • See if this helps. Windows uses the "\" to separate directories:

    C:\Program Files\Some Game\Game.exe

On any other system (Unix, Mac OS, FreeBSD, online) this is done with "/":

    /usr/share/games/some_game/game.bin

The directory "/" is your root directory; like the parent directory where everything else is stored. You can think of it as C:\ in Windows, except that there is no A:\ D:\ or E:\, everything is just mounted somewhere on the filesystem.

  • In those systems, the "\" character is instead used (when in a shell like Bash) to represent an escape character, like in most programming languages. So, for example if I foolishly named the game's directory "some same" instead of "some_game", I can still CD to it but I have to tell the shell that I actually mean to use a space character:

    /usr/share/games/some\ game/game.bin

(that's slash, followed by a single space)

Of course, this is the same as using quotes,

  • "/usr/share/games/some game/game.bin"

Generally speaking, you shouldn't have to use "\" anywhere on your Ubuntu system as a regular user.

  • Don't forget URL's use "/" too.

  • Lol something I found on the web.

  • i meant

    Here's (here is)

stars instead of stars and i think i got it now haha

  • thats pretty kewl im testing it in a virtual machine before so i make sure i do it right =) and what video recording software do you use because its awesome in Quality =) heres my comment i just rated 5 starts and hey guess what i hit Subscribe LOL =)

  • is a guide from someone who cant do math worth risking your computer for, when you can get maybe a 20 second improvement?

  • I dont see you knowing anything about computers you retard. And yes some people want improvement. So just stfu dude. and wtf does math have to do with computers.

  • Just because you can hack games? Wow your cool.

  • you're*

But I can do much more than simple games...those are just for fun.

I understand you're 12 but a little common sense and logical thinking wouldn't hurt.

  • well then you can show us what you know :D

  • Why would you say that maths has nothing to do with computers? Computers are based around maths, and therefore when you're going to college with a major in a computing field you'll have to do a lot of maths

  • awesome help!!

  • this was very helpful

  • You're an idiot, you didn't even get 200% but guarantee it 100%? lol

  • omg I guarantee this 100% works. dumbass

  • Tried it. Diddn't make any noticible difference on my test PC.

  • the only channels i got is primary and secondary channel on the secondary channel on the secondary channel device 0 & 1have the automatic detection button none of them are greyed out

  • Check both of them out. if it doesnt look like the video then it probably doesn't work. Do you have Xp Home?

  • no i have pro

  • Maybe you can take a pic of your drivers and show me on tinypic.

  • hey on the secondary channel all of the auto detection button is not greyed device 0 is not greyed and device 1 is not greyed what will i do? please reply please

  • Um u got another channel? See if those are not greyed... PM me

  • Wow thak you very much much i love you thank you

  • Erm i cant run the gpedit.msc for some reason.

  • Are you administrator?

  • Yes i am.

  • What does it say?

  • Erm does this work for Windows XP home Edition?

  • gpedit.msc won't but the rest should

  • older than the internets

also, it really only works with XP and IDE drives, and if you have ONE device on each IDE channel

  • so this only works with windows xp PRO not HOME??

  • just the gpedit.msc bit

  • Sure no Problem it will be up in about 10 Hours.

  • What? Did you try this tutorial? If you did Doesn't it rock!
