You are right, it seems to be from the Souht of Bessarabia (Republi of Moldova). There are few elements of both Bulgarian and Gagauz folklore, but it's not authentic, it's not a traditional dance.
Absolutely wonderful. I am amazed at how young these kids are. I am sure youth is required for the sheer energy of it. But the complexity of it means lot and lots of practice. It is apparent that Moldovian children have a different value system than American kids. The amount of practise required for this precludes a lot of video gaming hours in the day. Great focus from these wonderful kids.
Great dance - but Moldovian dance ? I can swear that both the music and the dance seem very Bulgarian
