I know you're all tired of hearing about Family Guy, but honestly, I wouldn't have heard about this show (or many others) without Family Guy's spoof on it. Seth McFarlane has done more to educate my generation about previous generations than anyone else in the mainstream. Sad yet funny, no?
The lyrics are soo super sweet! Whenever my female coworkers are having a bad day, I sing them this or the Mary Tyle Moore theme song, I usually get a smile or "please shut up"
@rickw1100 She was pretty even well into her 30's. When I was in elementary one of my classmates said Marlo is pretty on "Free to be you and me". At 00:01 look at how pretty she is in spite of being scared.
When I was a kid I took my sister's That girl and Barbie Doll stripped them and made them wrestle in the mud in our backyard, she then tattled on me to the folks and punished me and then suggested that I be evaluated by a clinical child psychiatrist.I told the doctor that I just wanted to see of they were anatomically correct.
@mistressofaminer Hahahaha!! Thats great! I used to hang my sisters "kissy" doll in the back yard- it worried my parents, but I only did it to piss off my sister and we both laughed in the end! Ahhhh--good times!
Now if today's shows would only COPY some of the other great oldies, we might have better prime=time tv. "That Girl" was cute, but a bit too silly for me.
This song has been in my head the past few days because I ride the same railroad tracks as shown in the opening shot. And yes, Family Guy brought me here!
After the theme song, didn't they use to show a downtown scene, and have the names of the producer and writer and other credits on street signs? Or am I thinking of some other show?
@TnseWlms They used to show street signs in the beginning that read "Starring" and "Marlo Thomas" on the same pole that had a "Curb Your Dog" sign. lol
@ThatsaCryinShame When I was a kid, my Father used to tell me when he came home from his Business Trip that he saw her and he talked to her and she told him that she had a date with some "Hot Guy". I'm telling you back in the day, I "WANTED" to be her. : - D
I'm surprised she never became a huge movie star after this show. She was talented and beautiful.

Who remembers that she married Phil Donahue?
platinumpenink 5 days ago
@platinumpenink - Interesting twist that Phil Donahue got his start in Dayton, Ohio and Danny Thomas grew up up the highway in Toledo.

actually family guy's version with "That Guy" sounds better cause of the open vowel of "GUYYY" instead of "GIRRRLLLL"
