Winona is definitely playing a victim card in this interview - a lot of people in their late teens go through mental stresses and changes. She's using that to promote a film also - we never heard about this stuff before Girl Interrupted.

@avidalocan Im sure the interviewer asked her if shes had any negative feelings about herself do to what the movie's about. I doubt Winona just randomly started saying all that. And thats most likely the reason we havnt heard of this before hand. She also says later in the interview that she could never tell anyone about it......there for.....we havnt heard about it until now. Its a 20/20 interview......which as all 20/20 interviews do.....they go into personal things.

@wweleah I'm just saying it is very common for people in their late teens to go through a psychological upset. It's not something of great unusuality or special interest. She's pushing it harder here than it should be. She doesn't ever admit that this is a very common phenomenon, even more so among women.

The thing I like about Winona is that I'm literally two weeks younger than her so a lot of what she does and says resonates a bit more with me than people more distant in age.

@ReklawRemix Of course I agree, she's incredibly beautiful but there's always going to be a certain look for actresses (and nowadays also male actors) and back then it was mostly big breast, long (blonde) hair and you had to be a certain height. The standard was almost the one of models. Actresses were (and still are to a certain extent) sort of supposed to be eye candy with a few lines.
