I love the video, the music complimented it so well. I can't wait till spring and I can get my 3 babies back outside. At the current 9 degrees, brrrr!
They have been wearing harnesses and leashes for a long time. They have on a harness at all times when they are in the woods (with clip on LEDs at night). They each have retractable leashes which are attached by carabiners to a "run line" between two trees. We still watch them carefully. They are use to the woods and love to go hiking. When we aren't at camp, they are clipped by leash to us in some manner.
Oh! My ferret enjoys going out for walks. Only outdoor places she's been is around my neighborhood and backyard. It was hard work ferret proofing my house.
Thanks for sharing your vid. Sorry for your loss of Mossa...he will be waiting to take many more hikes with you. We miss our dog Jasmine on every trail.
Enjoyed this video and music so much...Thank you, Brad, Lesley, BART and Loki...what a fun video! Appears that you ALL had fun this day! ...especially 'the boys'. I must visit Cohutta! Thank you for sharing your day with us B'
Absolutely adorable video. Question for you..this is something that I've been wanting to do with my ferret for a long time, seeing how he loves the woods. Where to they sleep at night when you take them camping? DO they just sleep in the tent with you? If so, how to you go about avoiding predators and such?
The first part is getting them totally comfortable with a harness and lead. They do sleep in the tent with us. If it is cold, they sleep in the foot area of our down sleeping bags. If it is hot, they tend to sleep in their fleece hat. We place slippy pads in the bottom two corners of the tent. Predators have been attracted to our camp, not by ferret smell, but by the smell of human food. You must hang the ferret's food up in the tree with your own at night.
My ferret is fully leash and harnessed trained, and we take him out for hikes in the woods all the time (I have a few videos on my youtube page of him outdoors as well!) . However, he's never been camping and it's something I've always wanted to do, but have been apprehensive due to safety issues. Do you have to ferret proof your tent so they don't crawl out somehow? If so, how? I'd imagine you'd have to seeing as there are always small holes in the corners atleast.
What beautiful furbabies! They look like they are having a great time! I like to take mine out too, but we have six feet of snow and they aren't having any of that.
I really enjoyed this video! I have always wanted to take my ferrets on a longer trip outside but fear that I would have to bring a litter box too... as that is the only place they will go!
Yes, indeed more people should allow regular sunshine and fresh air into their ferrets lives, let alone allowing them to smell the earth and feel the grass between their toes. Your babies are extremely healthy looking. Thanks for the video, you are a great movie maker!
That's so cute. And they definitely are lucky ferrets to be able to have so much fun in their lives. We took Lupi on a lot of trips when it was just him, it's hard to take anyone now that we have 12. But eventually our numbers will be back down so we can take them places with us. Enjoyed the video!

Nice video! I'd like to ask where did you buy those clip on LEDs please? You have a nice day, and have those trips again!
