@An0nEeMouse No not a requirement BUT, you must take all reasonable measures when transporting firearms, just leaving them in the boot of a car it not advisable. If you can demomstrate you have done as much as possible to ensure the firearms are secure you will have a better case should the worst happen. Some people have a gun cabinate bolted in their car.
You will need to be a member of a Home Office approved club with use of range for this class of firearm. You can buy either double action, single action or even single shot. I find the 357 more easier to use, especial for speed events. Hope this helps.
A question about the revolver (I'm interested in getting one of those in .44 magnum), does a UK firearms certificate allow a double action revolver, or do they have to be single action?
Is this a requirement or do you just choose to do it?

No limit but only six rounds loaded at a time as the range command is load with six rounds. Hope this helps.
