I own one of these, a 12 footer, with a 9.9 Tohatsu/Nissan 4 stroke engine. It goes 35mph with 1 person on the boat. It goes almost 30mph with 2 people on board. It's very scary to go so fast in a boat so small! It's a wonderful boat, I can bring anywhere.....Big boats are of no use to me. The only place for a big boat is on a huge lake with big waves. Porta-Bote may get swamped in big waves...It's more of a River boat...or for use on a calm lake...definitely not in the Ocean or Great lakes!
