yeah..I have to agree with jackdan89..it's kinda COMMON SENSE..to make sure there is nothing that will cause you to TRIP over yourself while climbing up and down a 15 or higher foot ladder. I bet he's a CONcast tech and a newbie at that.lol.
@chronofusion that was charter... same cam operator from another vid that states charter. Comcast has training that weeds out people with a fear of heights before they get into the field.
@ServanoStyle and? I've known more than 10 different CONcast techs 3 different outside contractors for the company. so what. My comment was meant to specify the stupidity of that tech in that video that reminded me of CONcast. I've never dealt with Charter cable before. That company isn't available in central nor any part of the state of MS. And CONcast's training is a damn joke. It took more than 6 techs throughout 2 years to FINALLy look to see if something was grounded to fix a problem
@chronofusion I was just clearing confusion. Sorry that you had an on going issue. (or someone you knew) And I can assure you that the training is no joke. It is up to the individual tech to implement the training that was provided. Just like a fast food joint, do you think they train them to act lazy and not speak clearly?
And it also falls on the management to make sure the techs are following through with training...
@ServanoStyle you're ok. I just don't forget how people treat me(good, bad, bad & at least try to make amends through apology, etc)That's 1 quote i got from S.A.K.S. Inc Credit call center jackson ms "people may forget what you say but they NEVER forget how you make them feel." & I add "always offer more". You're right about the individual choice tech remembering or choosing to ignore his/her training. fast food? 90% of the time it's dumbass blacks in MS that are the problem there. cheers
@ServanoStyle and i have no problem warning people of the horrors that await them if they choose CONcast as they're residential service provider. However I WILL ALWAYS provide names of the few COMPETENT COMCASTIC employees i worked with and the two supervisors I will NEVER forget to anyone to help guarantee they have a better experience. Willard Spires at the Jackson ms ( now called, Retention center) & Paul Blanco at Madison ASC madison ms.TRUE assets to Concast. THEY ARE WORTH the chance.
Anyone please I need help. I need a good study guide to the ncti jones exam. The study guide I was givin to me made me fail. If anyone can help please I would really love to do this but, this stupid test is in my way!!
Setup on strand, if you can't hit your cable strand use the phone strand then to get to it. There has been times where i setup on phone fully extended and stood on my 2nd to last rung just to change a friggin fitting....not anymore though..lol Gaffing is fine when you don't have any obstructions, i gaffed when i 1st started, using the ladder is soo much better.
the pole is ok but you will have better space on the strand I prefer the strand alot more.. but thats just me..and yeah I wish I could gaff but they dont train us anymore..
Screw all of you saying you want to strap your ladder to the pole. Its the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Real cable men gaff. And to the people "correcting his technique" Does your supervisor wipe your ass for you too? You know you have to use 7 squares folded twice to get supreme hand protection. Its in the safety handbook, pull it out of your nightstand drawer and check it out.
Lol, that's such an easy climb. Though I prefer to put my ladder on the strand instead of the pole, I feel safer, easier to work, and, when the wind picks up, it adds some fun to the job!
@kirbyyasha Hell no. Directly on the pole with a pole strap only way to go. No way the ladder will move at all. Im usually shitting my pants on a strand.
@wowOKlol If you set the ladder right, it won't move on the strand either. Never had the ladder move while I was on a strand. Of course I have my belt and strap too. On a pole, I just have limited mobility it seems like, on the strand, I don't have that big thing in my way. There are some instances where I prefer being on a pole over a strand. But 9 times out of 10, I climb up on the strand.
umke, i agree he also is using the rungs to hold on to, and not the ride of the ladder. Then his so called trainer is laughing at him. When he should be showing him proper proceedure.
i dont now how to write in English but I speak and understand 100 percent and I do not live in u.s.a. you dick I live in mexico.. but you understand that no??
What I understand is that you are an ignorant spic, but I am glad you roaches have stayed in Mexico where you belong. I am hispanic too, but not mixed like you stupid Mestizos. Obviously in America the pole lengths can differ significantly from block to block. - Jose Antonio
holy shit, how did this guy get through training?? we have to pass training before we can get out in the field. and that shit isnt that high, i gaffed out from the tap before and i still run up the damn pole. what a girl
give the dude some slack. hes a rookie. and as for the ladder on the pole steps..theres days i dont feel like getting an arm full of splinters when i reach the tap and wrap one arm around the pole to get my belt fastened so i throw the ladder. lately i havent had to climb at all because my boy just got the bucket and we basically bang out our routes together. makes the day more fun and a lot easier.
Damn, what a wuss. We had a wanna-be like you in pole climbing school (about the time you got potty trained) who refused to climb a ladder too... washed out of the class because he was a wimp, said his wife made good money. He never made it past the fourth rung.
You were all the way up there and only had to go up one more before strapping on. Or better yet why not use the pole steps?
I'd have to say you are management material though. Those who can't do... manage!

Try the middle of a 200ft midspan, 20 mph winds, facing heavy 4 lane traffic. Now that's fun!!!
Oh, then drop your terminator tool in traffic and have to unhook to go get it and then back up.

So if you had a pole with 4 obstructions, you'd rather spur around them than put up a ladder to bypass them?

Why not climb the pole?? I don't wanna dick with the ladder if I don't have to.
Go get you some cheater pegs (pole steps)!
DipFartson 2 years ago
A couple of things:
1.) His belt should be over his other shoulder so he doesn't trip going up.
2.) He doesn't even strap on.
3.) His ladder is on a 45 angle (too wide), so he couldn't strap on if he wanted too.
