I agree with what has been said before, the sound is definitely closer to 16-bit than 8-bit. 8-bit music tends to be presented with much more simple drums(more like white noise), a triangle wave for the bass, and two pulse waves. Good effort though :)
I suppose you are just trolling, but I wont be the last user to tell you that those sounds could not be made on any eight bit machine that ever existed.
@PreyingMantisMan the '8-bit' moniker was largely a nod to 8-bit theater. in fairness, though, there are maybe 16 colors in the whole thing (minus youtube compression stuff). i remember seeing more colors on my old 386. (and while on the topic, check out the original system shock - and keep in mind it was around about the time of doom, and before quake.)
I agree, Alegandroboquense. Scatandpounce is a total idiot, and he's even worse than Patrick Star. Scatandpounce is also a motherfucking bitchy shitty geeky cunt! He is a great big jerk and has bad breath. He needs to take a shower and will go to the corner for the rest of his miserable fucking life!!!
I guess we all know it's 16 bit, and that StaticEmphatic did a mistake calling the title an 8-Bit. But it still doesn't give you any right to call him idiot, and so on.
Yes and no... actually, it's timed. If you've ever seen the Rocky Horror original movie, including opening, the moves and fade (and audio resemblence to a honky-tonk piano) all are imitated/duplicated/parodied.
Alfred Newman composed the "20th Century Fox Fanfare" in which Bruce Broughton conducted. The logo uses the current fanfare, conducted by Alfred's son David Newman.
Made sprites in photoshop, used a gif animator to move 'em, and a tablature program to create the decent-but-still-electronic sounding audio. The mix and remix of the various themes was done with me own creative discretion involved.
I imported the original logo, thought about the pieces a bit, and then just made a few outlines using the pencil tool. Oh, and did it at half resolution - so I could size it up for the 'pixelated' effect.

@606Zodiac it's not. it's basically a really complicated animated gif file i made after having an idea. there's more to it, but i got distracted.

megawillmonds 1 year ago 12
@megawillmonds were you around back in the day of MIDI? that was supposed to be the basic MIDI piano... i'll give you that the look is more 16-bit.

@nrdesign1991 well, yeah; it was a self-wrought merge between the fox theme and a recognizable mario sound.

Do 16-bit! LOL
90skindaguy 4 years ago
Oh, c'mon. That'd be too easy; hell, the original version prolly can be resampled to 16-bit color with no major color change.
StaticEmphatic 4 years ago
well, maybe
but the fanfare would be pretty cool
and theres also changes in lighting too
90skindaguy 4 years ago
Mmmmmaybe - but only in the newer, 1999-or-so versions of the opening. This was based on the classic; animated, not rendered.
