look at tha crazy steppin fucka. i'm a fan afta this. the cult only got betta. gimme some corn off the cob wit butter and suga. until then, walk ur ass back to england's productive line. so sad. too bad
I agree with METHOS109 - Live at the Lyceum is an absolute gem of a recording! Amazing vibe about it. So good to hear The Cult on good form of late; looking forward to the batch of tunes which come out of their latest recording sessions...
Friday 13th January 1984 to be precise! I know cos I travelled up to Newcastle with my brother for the show. The excellent Cocteau Twins were also on the same bill. Sweet memories...
The best Cult song....oh wait how about Moya! The early days were the best. Post LOVE lost all this groudbreaking sound. Live at the Lyceum just may be the best Live album ever recorded.
@METHOS109 Oh Moya! One of only 2 7" singles I am missing from my Cult collection. I stopped collecting after Electric, they had lost their buzz imho. I am also missing Gods Zoo 7" but I keep searching. Live at the Lyceum is just amazing, I completely agree with you. :)
there are like, 23402384 vidoes of this performance and no one can get the title for the band or the show right. haha
from what I can gather, this is The Cult (having recently changed their name from The Death Cult, which was changed from Southern Death Cult), and this is being performed on a T.V. show called "The Tube" by Jools Holland, who later gets his own show.
hahaha and I'm not even English, nor was I alive then!
I saw Southern Death Cult when they supported Bauhaus in 1982 and they were fantastic and they still sound F***in great I love I an I have always wanted to have his children!!!!!
funny i was about 15 when i first listened to them, that was in 1990, in south africa. loved dreamtime, love, electric, and sonic temple. my interest started fading a bit after pure cult release. but i still listen to the old stuff and they still ROCK!!!!
Whoever said old bands like The Cult are dead and no young people listen to them, im 15 years old and im fucking addicted to this song. Im going to see Ace Frehley May 15'th with my dad. Rock on!
Let it be, beautiful, When I sing the, last song! I will give, even, my body! Spirit walker!
Let all the children, Kiss the sun! Before they sing, the last song! Spirit walker, Spirit walker! Spirit walker spirit walker!
hell yea! im 15 to and i am addicted to the cult! thnx ta dad lol in fact im ordering in southern death cult which will take like two weeks.... its only been two days and it feels like its neva gonna come lol! CFFC!
I have been playing drums for 20+ years and in shows I add more diffuCULTy to the set. It just goes to show that the studio recording was not replicable live. 2 drum tracks were recorded. This version of the song was still awesome and Ian sounded rediculous.
Have you ever heard the studio track? It is an import and was not released in the U.S. unless it was on a greatest hits. The chorus was completely changed on the drums and vocals. I don't know if Ian didn't want to sing his Ahhhh haaa ahhh ahhh part or what. Maybe the drummer changed up his part to fit Ian's modified chorus. I am by no means knocking this performance. It is AWESOME. I just think that the lyrical hook is left off of this version of the song. Just listen to the studio track.
Excellent song that brought the Cult to stardom. The drumming intro was simplified....no wonder I had a tough time playing the drums to this song. Also the Aaaaa-Haaaa-Aaaa-Aaa hook is missing in this version. Still without this hook, and intro beat, the song rocks.
Yes, that is Billy minus the bleached hair, and that is definately Jamie Stewart on bass. They should have kept this lineup (including the drummer) until now....
Damn, he looks so cool!
