fastest guy no doubt after bruce lee, even shaolin monks are put to shame in terms of speed . just wow and WTF at the same time. nothing but respect to this art and especailly this guy 100% !!!!
this is a 'sensitivity drill' not a sparring match. wing chun's strength is directness and overwhelm of the opponent. but, range is an issue obviously, this is close quarters fighting which if you ever have the unfortunate opportunity to box a w.c. practitioner, you must keep moving him to the 'outer range'. the moment a w.c. person enters their range it is impossible to manage. Bruce Lee had much to say on the matter of range in his masterpiece 'Tao of Jeet Kune Do'
You know in real life no one just stands around watching while your pull moves like these right? I know 99% of you want to be super cool Dragonball Z fighters and stuff but real people punch fucking back. Idiots. Argue all you want.
I train under Sifu Morten Ibsen. Anyone who questions wing chun, has never seen or fought one who practiced it. This is a serious system for self defense against any kind of foe. This isnt supposed to looke flashy and effective.. Its supposed to quickly knock down something who threatens you.
ehm, guys ? there is nothing to discuss. I train wing tsun, and i train at the wing tsun academy where this video was actually taped, and i know those guys, and the sifu doing chi-sau in the video. ehm? trust, if u a wrestler in a cage with this guy wont last longer than 7 secs. seen stuff with my own eyes (;
GGM Yip Man taught (rough dates) 1937- 1972. If you teach something for this long how you explain things will evolve and change over time. Also different people come to martial arts for different reasons...I would not give someone the same explanation of a part of the form to someone who wants the health benefits as for someone who wants to learn to fight. Because of this and other reasons (no written curriculum, personal interpretation by students)
his students came away with different ideas on the nature of the art. The (grand)masters differentiate their interpretation of the art by spelling it differently. It is hard to comment on the nature of the differences as I could leave my organisation tomorrow and call my club wing chun, ving tsun, weoung choonage or whatever I wanted and completely falsify any previous statements. In the end its how you move not how you spell. Sorry if that's not much help.
very possible, I think you need to find this guy, and then fight him. Track him down call him into the ring and pund the hell out of him, and then tell him your system don't work!!! thats what i would do if i felt the way you do.
he would not kick tyson's ass because tyson is a professional 24/7-workout fatass boxer, while these guys are simply practising wing tsun. people should understand that training martial arts doesnt make you "the ultimate", it makes you "better than average". still no chance against fatass heavyweights.
I never said wing tsun wasn't effective so don't put words in my mouth, you don't know me so how can you comment about someone you know nothing about. The only thing soft is your Mothers a-s. P.S. tell her I will phone later and to wash up and put something sexy on for me. oh tell her the little red one, don't worry she will know what I mean.
So? Even if he is raising his shoulders too much, and the other guy isn't reacting, it wouldn't matter. In application, he could land all those hits hard the the attacker (a normal person) could only get in one or two.
that does not look like a biu tze app. in any case the other guy does absolutely nothing to counter or for that matter anything and i agree with "my education123" his shoulders look a bit raised. admittedly im only an eighth level and have only seen the complete biu tze a hand full of times but the sifu is moving way to fast for me to find any redeeming aspects to my level and style.
isit me or is the guy attacking rasing his houlders a bit too much when he striking? he could just be tired from drilling to much i suppose. lightning speed nevertheless!
@nivarica Wing Chun is a style, and the style is not important. some can do every form and still can not defend themselves on the street. others take a look at the fighting strategy and are able to use it right away. the martial artist is the one who fights, not his style. of course wing chun can be devastating, but it does not mean that every wing chun practitioner is a walking killing machine, although some think of themselves in this way. ;)
Sorry but I dont believe somebody who can do several forms cant defend himself. Even if he only knows one form, he can defend himself and we are NOT talking about beginners here.
@nickless2010 dude, i did not even say that they can... read!... it is not about doing them, it is about UNDERSTANDING them. to understand what you are doing is half the work. the other half is to apply it with a partner, you will never see real wing chun practicioners alone, they train together or with the wooden dummy. and trust me, you do not want to fight someone who trained with the dummy for about a year and a half.
@nivarica I happen to question the validity of Wing Tsun in actual combat. I'm a huge fan of San Shou as far as kung fu goes, but Wing Tsun sticky hands isn't how a fight goes down. Also - take care with that argument you got there - it's called "appeal to tradition" and it's a logical fallacy.
Well often in close combat i have felt that Sticky hands where a great tool, mostly i never used it directly but my opponents where utterly unable to hit me as soon as i was close. I was either chain punching them or in contact with their arms at all times.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I can't stand ppl doing this shit. Just three hits might be interesting. but there is not much use to over exaggerate the hits. use might try to do a bruce, but this is pathetic k
it usually takes me one, let alone three! besides, if you dont know the reasons why the rhythm of the strike should only be in no more than threes. like broken rhythm. 1-1, 2-123, 1-2,1-2. ex. then i would have to seriously consider your knowledge ving tsun and fighting experience! thank you for the thumb down though, it really shows your level of kung fu life.
very impresive speed! keep up the gwd work! however correct me if im wrong but i dont think thats wot chisau is about.. shudnt the other guy be feeling his movements and not just standing ther?? chi sau is to train reflexes and sensitivity, how cn they do that if they lose contact... was it dont like that just for tha purpose of this video?? just a thought..
Trust me, the Sifu in the movie is more than just decent in Chi Sao, however that is not the point of this exercise. The whole point is to make these movements part of ones muscle memory, making them reflexive reactions when ones arms/legs or similar are affected in a given way.
By the way, it is more important that what ever style we practise, we respect all those who master the form. Why knock it or try to shout down anybody who has an opinion?
Yes I do actualy as I am currently doing my first Tech for WingTsun. There was so much uninformed comments here by people who do not or have not studied either UFC or WingTsun but feel that they have to comment. The clip is for a dril, to train the reflexes for fast reactions and control. This would be the same for UFC pad sparring. You would not be able to use either in 'real combat' but may use elements of it. Does that answer your question?
Another UFC video watching fan.... he he... i love these jerks who think UFC fighting is real. dude even ufc fighter would use totally differnet techniques if the would have too.
ufc is entertaining to wacth, but what happens there is not the way to fight ... they always use most of the time crawling around on the floor doing submission... wouldnt happen on the street.. if you end up on the ground someone will jump on your face
that guy would never get that close.

And whats your point? I've been boxing back in the days, but the last 10 years I made WT.
And my conclusion is that WT is much more effective if you want a chance in a real fight.
Since you're American you won't ever understand that. All martial arts are getting much more "soft" in America.
