@KSitz77 In some respects Jackie was the second best overall talent in the family -- he sang beautifully, danced well, directed the choreography, and babysat all at the same time. Jermaine got more attention as an excellent vocalist and bass player; IMO, Jermaine had more commercial appeal because of his deeper voice and because he is younger. Motown could promote Jermaine as a teen idol, whereas Jackie was a grown-up, which differed from the J5's image.

Michael and Jackie really shine in this medley. Both sing with such conviction. Marlon and Jermaine were great too but Michael and Jackie stole the show. I agree that Jackie should have sung more lead vocals in the group. Like Michael, he had a very mellow and gentle voice but soulful. The differnce is Jackie is more of alto while Michael is high tenor. And this is the first time I ever got to hear Tito play a solo. He's not faking on the guitar. He really can play! Great job J5!

Agree! Although Jermaine and Michael were probably the most gifted, Marlon and Jackie had pleasant voices and could always carry a tune well. The best was the blend of all their voices together, which isn't heard very often, but is divine. The most notable is the sequence in "I'll Be There" after MJ sings, "if you should ever find someone new" when all the brothers harmonize on the line, "I know he better be good to you..." Just magical. Love Michael and Jermaine's voices in harmony here.

Michael and Jermaine's harmonizing was so fluid and beautiful, their vocal interplay was mesmorizing, and when Jackie and Marlon sang their voices were perfectly together like one perfectly rounded voice. I loved Michael's Killing Me Softly, so much soul and I'd like to say he was the star, but this was a beautiful medley well executed by all 5 brothers, no star. I really wish I was alive in '73 to see their Las Vegas act, it would have been killer.

Each brother was talented in his own way. It took all 5/6 to make the Jacksons sound. MJ never belittled his brothers talents so neither should anyone else. This is a wonderful example of the underated talent of the entire family the bros are all so very talented and although i complain about my age (42) ive had the pleasure of seeing them live back in 1981(the jacksons) the victory tour then mj's bad tour. I was blessed to have had that opportunity my children will never have. Is it me or when Jackie and Marlon are suppose to be harmonizing starting at 3:35, Marlon is NOT singing? Normally when harmonizing or when people are singing together you can at least tell that there are several voices, but I only Jackie.
