Hi, I'm beggining with some tennis lessons here in Brazil, and while searching the internet for some vids to help me accelerate the process i´ve stumbled upon your videos. You've got the best teaching method by far. Congratulations and keep up the good work, I'll be sure to try some of these plays and later I'll tell you how it went :)
@enricoluzi Thanks! I really appreciate it. I have actually lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil for 6 years since I was 4 years old. I still have family there. I love the food there! Obrigado!
Great instruction. The slice backhand is such a versatile shot, lots of fun when you've mastered it. Gets you out of trouble, and also a great way to get your opponent into trouble!
Does proper technique require a straight right arm in forward swing ?? Does power come primarily come from the rotator cuff / shoulder .....or tricep ??
@Chipinjack For me, the straight arm is a must at contact, that is what stabilizes the shot. Power comes from the whole body movement not just some parts. Also, the slice is not a power shot, it's more of a finesse shot. Hope this helps. Thanks
Yes, you need the racquet cocked throughout the shot. The contact point is slightly in front but not as much as a regular groundstroke. The racquet face varies depending on the height of the shot. Racquet is more open with the lower shots and straighter with the higher shots. Hope this helps. Thanks
...couple of questions...do I keep the wrist cocked thru out swing.....and contact ball out in front of body ....and is the racket slightly open at contact ???...thx
