@KaneNicholson Your Right it was nutrition, the guy that I got her from was giving her ears of corn 2 times a day. This video is now 2 years old. He only had her for a month. I put her on the Too Baby formula using a turkey baster. Within 2 weeks she was like a Porcupine with all new feathers. The Video of “How to beat the Vegas heat” is her just a year later, she is all full feathered and looks beautiful.
@DigitalFMC o okay good on ya , sorry for my misunderstanding , and negative comment , just like to see healthy animals and mistreated animals make me pissed off
i'm thinking of getting one, but some sites kinda scared me, i'm 15 and have school at 8 AM to 3 PM, so will I have enough time for him? I love birds and this is my favorite breed...
I also have a cockatiel and he's constantly with me when I'm home, so will the new cockatoo be jealous or hurt him when I'm studying and he's siting on my shoulder?
And any other info would be really helpful! Thanks!
My Bird Chloe(a BOY cockatoo(didnt know that.) was watching this and started saying Hiya chloe hiya chloe! hello baby! chloe! up up food! shut up! frechfries! dance! chicken hawk! goodbye! nock it off! falalalalalalalalalalala! pretty much his entire vocabulary. oh and ahahahahaahaaaaaahlalalaahahahahaaaaaaah!
@DigitalFMC is my impression or the cockatoo spoke "Que Droga" A sentece in portuguese wich means in English "That Drug" this true? the cockatoo spoke " Que Droga" Tell me Please
@CreepyPolentaXD No.The cockatoo says:Que Droga.A word in Portuguese,In English.Means:That Drug.Because de music ended. The cockatoo was angry because of the end of the song and said:Que Droga
To get talking birds to talk, you have to tell them EXACTLY what to say - THOUSANDS of times over and over. Few birds pick it up after several dozen times!!! Be patient - and say the same thing over and over and over - and eventually - they'll start repeating it - but this may take thousands of repititions!!
And the younger the better - older birds (3 years or more) generally will take much longer to talk - some never talk!!! And really - they don't talk - they only repeat!!
@TwiNerd27 Not all birds will talk However, a lot of birds learn words from each other not just humans. This bird has learned the "Cat Call Whistle" from me after hearing it over and over. Now I get one every time I come home. Also she has learned to say "I love you Dolly" and "High Baby" When I cuddle with her at night I say it very close to her face, it took about a month or two but now she says it very clearly. Just be carefull you dont get a Nip on the Nose !!! LoL
@DigitalFMC Lol yea. Once in awhile he'll get that crazy "im gonna bite you look" on his face, but hes a sweetie. I mean my bird Angel used to practice talking all the time. I guess no that my mom and i are so busy, he hardly does anymore. But, after watching this, im really gonna try to spend more time with him.
@TwiNerd27 I Also wanted to tell you a story about talking Cockatoo's. I once volenteered at a bird Rescue for bird handeling. I walked into a room full of about 30 Cockatoo's and I was overwelmd seeing that many. Isaid "Hi Baby" and all 30 of em said "Hi Baby" back to me. I am sure they all learned that by talking to each other, but it really was cute !!! A Cockatoo Choris ... LoL
Awww! i really hope mine starts to talk. I need to spend more time with him. He used to practice talking when my dad and i spent time with him. unfortunitly, he doesnt anymore.
my vet says that is bad behavior when they tilt there head all the way back and then forward! I thought it was cute until bella (my cockatoo) started attacking people!
I'm glad to see this video...Dolly is just a doll !! I've just adopted one also and am worried about the feathers...I am also focusing on nutrition...I can see hope thru Dolly. Thanks for sharing!
@shantee4 I just used the baby had feeding formula and fed her with a turkey baster. Inside of 2 weeks she was like a porqupine with all new feather growth. The full process takes about 6 months. When we first got her we could see that she needed special needs in the way of nutrition. If you need any advice feel free to contact me. Thanks for watching !!!
@DigitalFMC hey so your cockatoo was molting?? mine kinda looks the same especially her wings but I think mine is plucking them!! shes also shredding her feathers....on her chest shes missing some feathers but I could see they are growing back..im confused.. I try to keep and eye on her most of the time and whe she goes near her feather I tell her to stop..hope shes just molting
@metaljar02 In Dolly’s case, it was also nutrition, we work from home as I am a computer tech and she gets tons of attention. She seems to only pluck a little in the winter time. Her feathers today look awesome as we addressed her nutrition needs. In this video we had just adopted her. They tend to pluck if they are left alone for long periods of time or in a stressful situation. She now gets a shower every 2 weeks. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
@DigitalFMC hey thanks...so what was the nutrition for dolly? I gona buy an e-collar cuz she keeps pulling her crest..idk how she does it but she manage to get them all pulled out...but they are growing back now n shes trying to get them out...so I decided i need to get her an e-collar.. its like she declared a war against me lol and I wont let her bet me!! I give her a lot of attention actually but when I bought her the person that sold it to me told me she was molting BS...but yeah I will win
Beautiful happy bird! I"m glad you have her (had many myself...). Sounds like you have brought her back from a previously stressful situation. Good job!
at the beginning after she was screaming i heard stop it. I know how she learned it. at 10:00 a.m she goes crazy and the lad who owned her screamed stop it so much to her that she learned it. right?
What an amazing personality on this little girl! My Bella Is way more mellow! I wish would interact this way! She does it every so often. You should check out her videos!
they are way to loud im probably getting rid of mine because ear plugs doesnt even help. they need atleat an hour or two a day of attention otherwise they will scream!!!
hey anyone thats owns a cockatoo , so there noisy? but does that set back the whole enjoyment of having one. like i would really like one but its putting me off by the noise they make , i'm pretty sure i would put up with it but i'm so sure about my whole family. any suggestions?
@TheRoflcopter3000 Dude, you obviously have never owned a cockatoo. They go crazy at 10:00 or so in the morning the sun spurs them on, and at dusk this is how they let themselves be known, thats what they do. The lady we got her from had 2 cockatoos and they both screamed so much she Screamed back at the "Stop It" and that is how she learned to say it. The kids just think that is the cutest. They were edging her on for the camera, but we hear this every day at dusk.
@TheRoflcopter3000 That is also the same bird a year later pool side dancing to James Brown. We had totaly focused on Nutrition and her feathers are now in full Plumage. She is really a happy bird.
she is bored... do you realise they can live a hundred years plus some !..she will pull all her feathers out , the least you can do do is get her a companion , any bird... budgie will be best....
Toos don't molt like birds who lose all feathers. New feathers are in place before old ones turn loose. She may be plucking. You mentioned nutrition, sounds like you are on top of it. May also need to make sure she's getting 12 hours dark & frequent showers. I take my U2 outside for sun, air & different environment. Be careful with whistling if you want her to talk. May also need to make sure she's getting 12 hours dark & frequent showers. I take my U2 outside for sun, air & different environment. Be careful with whistling if you want her to talk. That posture is defensive - may be a bit much stimulation. Sounds like she has a home where she's loved. BTW, they can live to 90.
