One of the best bands I ever saw - what a talent! Two thirds of Cream and one of the best saxophinists ever, and of course the late great Graham Bond - gone but not forgotten!
what ive found hilarious is i walk into countless music stores and ask for CDS by GBOs and they look at me like im nuts ... how did music go from this glory to the poison it is today
It has an amazing sound, combining the hefty Spanish-styled horns arrangements with the lenghty-marching bleak drums -I suppose it's Baker, it remains me "We're Going Wrong" by Cream. Does anyone know if this song is a Bond original?
I'd not really listened to this properly before, and it's interesting how it works without the bass. I don't think were many GBO tracks with my dad playing soprano sax. Lots of feeling... like it a lot! :)
Phew! My first hearing of this track. Dunno why the company chose to put it out as a 45; it was way too intense for the UK singles market of those days, when the likes of the Hollies or Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch ruled the charts.
This is from the period after Baker kicked Bruce out of the band. The line-up here is Bond, Baker, DHS and trumpeter Mike Falana. The "bass player" in the band at this point was Bond's left foot on the bass pedals of his Hammond. See DHs's autobiography for a VERY funny story about this line-up being stranded in a snowstorm, 300 miles away from their next gig, and Baker tripping out on acid before totalling their van.
Vincent Crane's organ took 2-3 guys to carry it around......Graham had a smaller organ, but proved "it's not the size of the organ, but how you work it" (tee hee hee) nice vid....cool pics, too. Thanx for posting ;) and be happy with the organ you have
I was never into this group at the time...great track.

@MechaGojira00
This is a song that goes back to the late 1800s as far as I know.
It was made famous in the 20s by Louis Armstrong. Also Cab Calloway does a famous version

Graham, Dick, Ginger...... I carried the Melotron Up the stairs in Brum [Paradise Street] in 1962. Never heard anything like it since!!

This sounds so unlike anything I've heard from this period. Reminices of early Floyd- meets-Ennio Morricone...
