A fairly novel Idea, I use this same method for my Laptop to prevent overheating lol. But this is besides the point, Microsoft were supposed to coat the Triple Core Xenon processors with a special coolant gel to prevent this problem. Either they didnt do this properly or not at all.
1.- Placing your 360 up straight will not damage the DVD unit, but can get more scratches on your discs.
2.- Heat goes up. So the CPU will be affected in the opposite way of what he says. (It will be cooler. This also helps the airflow inside the whole thing).
3.- Discs cannot fall outta place even if you literally took your Xbox and shook the hell out of it. This is due to the CD drive having a metal cover thing. (dunno how to say that). Mine's always been horizontal though.
or 4 dvd boxes that I know you have laying around that you ither dont use or are empty... place those underneath it in the center there a free fix. Or a cooling unit. Or stand it up. and dont bump into it like a retard. I had mine standing for 3 years no problems. It RROD on me only because it ended up being so dirty because my brothers friends didn't take care of it when they had it. Cig ashes pet dander etc. overheated because of that.
mines from 2008 and iv left it on over 2 weekends while i went away and it was still on when i came home from vacation, still working good i just had to get the dust cleaned out. it might be workin better if my mom didnt take it away becouse of some of my low grades but, 70's so it shouldent have ben a prob

Whenever i played my 360, I've easily played it over 10 hours. No biggy, mostly because I would be doing achievments and whatnot. But, alas my 360 is dead. It is over 5 years old, or close to 5 years. It has done me well. But, it was still a pain in the frking ass! Cuz it was the first model right, so yea... not that the 360 isnt good, I still beleive that the 360 has better graphics then the PS3, but the PC cannot be beat nonetheless. :)

LEGOS!!! lol but seriously I just built one with legos. and it's not just x-boxes that are shit. I've had two PS3s break on me within ONE year, no kidding, but I will admit that it was because I did not properly ventilate them. I'm just saying that PS3s are just as likely to die of heat exhaustion as X-Boxes if you're a retard (like I was, TWICE) and don't ventilate them properly.

@GObrewers11 Its a heat problem AKA your XBOX or harddrive overheats.The slim has AKA 250gb,4gb and Xbox pro are the only ones that have a low chance of getting the Red ring other than the elite

@GObrewers11 Other ways to prevent RROD is not playing it for extremly long time,don't put the xbox in enclosed spaces,put at least four inches on the sides back and top for it to breath.and give it a ten minute break time to time

Whenever i played my 360, I've easily played it over 10 hours. No biggy, mostly because I would be doing achievments and whatnot. But, alas my 360 is dead. It is over 5 years old, or close to 5 years. It has done me well. But, it was still a pain in the frking ass! Cuz it was the first model right, so yea... not that the 360 isnt good, I still beleive that the 360 has better graphics then the PS3, but the PC cannot be beat nonetheless. :)

@Frouza iv not ever had a red ring even on a console i bought when it first came out,iv had a few since but red ring has never been an issue, i had a video input fault on one of them thats it.

Just built one of these for my xbox!! instead of plastic sticks i used wooden ones and gave it a black finish to match my elite xbox. I will try to post a response video to show what it looks like, thanx a bunch for this awesome idea!!!!
