We can sit here and try and change people all we want, but 99.9% of the time its not going to happen, its been like this since the beginning of time. We as Christians know that homosexuality is wrong, and if your a homosexual and you know about jesus and his teachings. Then your only pleasuring yourself. Everyone is sinning all the time, protesters are preaching on the street corner, this is a sin. Let people know about Jesus and his teachings, and go on with your life. thats why we have choice
so what about Christians who are thieves? Christians who are wife beaters? Christians who are child molesters? Christians who sell drugs? what would YOU have to say to either of them when they not only refuse to repent.... but insist that what they are doing is not wrong???
You make it seem like you have no idea what you are talking about. The bible says that those who fear God are wise. These people have no fear of God whatsoever. They like to mock the Word, and want to live the way they want to live. Their actions effects others around them. The Bible says that evil communications corrupt good manners. If you continue to hang out with these people, they are going to affect you. "A companion of fools shall be destroyed" (Proverbs 13:20).
Also, the Christian community does love people that are gay. The thing is that we hate their iniquity, as the LORD does. There is nothing to understand about their person; they are sinners, that love their sin, and hate the word of the LORD. Our job is to preach the word, and be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke and exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. Jesus said "Repent ye, and believe in the Gospel."
These people that you interviewed don't believe in the Bible. If you advocate sin, the Bible says you are worthy of death in Romans 1:32. We are not to advocate their lifestyle in any way. Those people in the video saying that Christians shouldn't get their message to the gay community through signs, or that way, they are WRONG. The bible says to rebuke those that sin before all so that others may fear. It is through fear, that we start attaining knowledge of the LAW.
Wow! This video certainly challanges any Christian who would rather remain quiet about this very real issue. Maybe we should reexamine Rom. 1:26-27. But this time reading the whole chapter through Chapter 8. Paying attention to 8:1,15-16,22,26,28 and with the promise and comfort of verses 27 and 28. The wonderful promise of John 3:14-16 is to "whosoever" and whosoever means exactly that: Whoever ! and thet is Gospel, Good News!
Is it wrong to live in holiness and believe and trust God? Who's son is not different or set apart from him but a DIRECT reflection of him? what is with society today and thinking that Jesus is some kind of new age hippie? he is not! he is the king of kings and lord of lord's, his ways are absolutely perfect. and he is 100% holy.
Jesus was NOT against judging sin! Jesus was against judging people that are doing God's work. For instance Jesus is against judging those who heal on Sundays or judging people based on their race being a unjewish. YOU ARE QUOTING JESUS CHRIST OUT OF CONTEXT. I'm sorry if it busts your cultural bubble but we as Christians are supposed to be set apart from the rest of the world, we are not "self righteous" as the world thinks, we are made righteous by SURRENDERING to Jesus Christ.
What if Jesus wanted to watch a porno flick with me... Well guess what, that's sick and would never happen so what does that have to do with making Jesus Lord? are you really going to insult the holy and blameless lamb of God?
I have a question for this so called homosexual "pastor". Why should we put words in our saviors mouth and insult the holy spirit? God hates homosexuality it's clear. What is this sick idea of well "what if Jesus said this...?" Yeah well what you said at 4:20 was completely wrong and insulting to Jesus Christ. He said if you love me you will obey my commandments. Jesus turned over the tables in the temple because of false teachers like you, and thieves. Quit running souls to hell
@MrJoshuaSi It's comments like these that are turning thousands of genuinely good people AWAY from Christ. you wounder why the LGBT community is so fed up with this BULL? you have just provided it. please think and pray about your opinions and put yourself in other peoples shoes. I will pray for you as well :)
Maybe the gay community should put theirselves in the shoes of Jesus Christ who took endless torture and pain so that they could CHOOSE to live a life of purity and recieve the holy spirit. It's so sad to see people enslaved to sin. I'll pray for you, along with the rest of everyone who has lost reverance and fear for the truth of God's word. Jesus is coming soon to take his bride! peace.
@takitheterrible said refering to the street preacher, ''But he didn't tell them any truth. He told them his opinion on a controversial issue.''
Now, is this true, or your personal opinion on what he is doing?
So, I guess NOBODY is being loving here bc apparently NO one is telling any truth. Everyone is just giving their opinions on this controversial issue, eh?
Having been on both sides of this issue, first a "straight living" married evangelical Christian minister for 12 years, then 15 as a "gay activist" and finally as a celibate Catholic Christian, I get it. Both sides have totally shut one another down. I appreciate what this pastor is doing in trying to be a bridge. The most significant question in the entire video is "What if Jesus told you that your view was wrong/" And it is asked of both groups. Well done.
List of religions against homosexuality: Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Sikh, Hinduism, Bahai, Druze, Zoroastrianism. I am a Christian and I have many gay friends. Do I agree with the lifestyle? No. But it doesn't make them any less of a person. Other religions don't believe in it either and some still believe in stoning the gays to death. As a Christian, I don't believe in being mean to homosexuals. My friends know what I believe, and we respect each other.
But aside from my reservations, I do appreciate that there is interest in the LGBT issues within the KA church. That, in and of itself is encouraging. I just hope this is not simply an easy way to seem "relevant", without intent to move forward in understanding and openness.
that is, i see that you're trying to do a good thing. I realize my comments sound abrasive, and I apologize. I agree in the hope that there is thoughtful movement toward mutual understanding within the KA community.
Okay, I understand the intent, but here's what I find problematic about this video: You show an interview with a protester, insinuating that he is "self-righteous" and "judgmental", yet it's not actually very different from what the conservative pastors are saying in their interviews.
Fourage, most of the Pastors interviewed for this piece believe that homosexuality is a sin, and they will never negotiate that. The pastors aren't criticizing the protestor for calling out sin for what it is, but its the WAY in which he does it. Again, the intent of this piece is about our APPROACH towards the gay community. I think by now the homosexuals get the message: "homosexuality is sin." We've succeeded in getting that message across, but now what? What is the next step?
But... that's... my point. The fact that they aren't willing to negotiate their position on homosexuality as a sin is why dialogue is not possible. You can yell it in the streets with signs, or you can whisper it in "embrace", but the message is the same. It’s easy to demonize those that speak “the truth” with violence, but that does not dismiss the fact that you believe the same terrible things. The approach toward gay people is not what should be discussed, the doctrine should be.
I do not believe it is wrong to be gay, and I am a member of the Korean American church. You’re working with the assumption that all christians believe homosexuality is a sin. That is NOT our message, and I don’t want to think of a next step because it assumes too much about something that has never actually been up for thoughtful negotiation. I think this video, especially the last little blerg by the host unravels any attempt toward actual exchange of ideas and eventual movement toward embrace
@NOBULLishable Well I guess the next step is to recognize that Hetrosexuality is an ugly sin also when pratiiced outside the holy Sacrament of Matrimony and other sexual sins praticed alone in privite are serious violations of holy purity. Our Lord also tells us: looking at a Woman in Lust is also a hideous sin. Having said that, let those who are free from these sins cast the first stone!! Thank God we all have a Heavenly Father who reveals truths like: 1John 1:7-10. Rom 8:1.
@TheFourage I think the problem is largely a deeply ingrained one, because the culture wars fought in North America and other westernized or westernizing societies have focused a lot on homosexuality without also at the same time acknowledging other inherent social problems such as the immense liberalization of media which makes sexual promiscuity a "good" that is shown onTV
They hide behind heavily criticizing the loud protesters, when in fact they are just as rigid about homosexuality being a sin. Are they even willing to negotiate that part of their doctrine? Because that's what should be discussed, not whether or not we should "love" the gay community, because that is a GIVEN. Dialogue will happen once both sides can admit to the fact that they might be dead wrong.
You said "Dialogue will happen once both sides can admit to the fact that they might be dead wrong." Isn't that exactly what Pastor Alex is referring to in the video when he gives the example of Jesus coming down and speaking to both sides? You can watch it again near the end to refresh your memory
@TheFourage There are noticeable numbers of Christians and Catholics suffering from same-sex attractions, and while they know consciously the Bible's stand against the LIFESTYLE, some are continuing to lead double lives without seeking God’s will out. Any sin is sin, and there are scars and consequences to be borne for committing them because it is in the nature of God that asmuch as He wants all to be saved and know Him, He cannot let knowing offenders away without being responsible.
@Kevchung11 What are you talking about? You're making arguments that operate with the assumption that being gay is a sin. Not everybody adheres to that belief, even Bible believing Christians.
Thank God that there is a noticeable trend within the Christian community that is moving toward reconciliation and acceptance of the gay community.
@TheFourage I am talking about the actions of homosexual sex, not homosexual feelings per se. Granted that we do not know much about the exact origins of these feelings, it is still called upon all of us as Christians, regardless of orientation or attractions, to practise the chaste life. This applies even in the case of heterosexual sex, if it is outside of marriage, because simply, love does not make things right, if it deviates from standards we are called to follo
@Kevchung11 I'm not separating "feelings" from "actions". I do not believe being gay is a sin, I believe that they should not be discriminated against and allowed to marry. You can talk about the "same rules applying to heterosexuals" but you do not allow gays to marry and tell them they cannot have sex outside of marriage. Haha... and you wonder why gays hate the church.
@TheFourage I think that we must go to the definition of what "marriage" is. Granted that civil unions of same sexes are possible in most western societies(such as Canada), the church has specifically defined 'marriage' as between a man and a woman in most denominations. It does not mean that we hate them. Sometimes, love of another does not mean that we bend to their standards
@Kevchung11 The church will change their definition of marriage shortly. Do not assume the opinion of the church as if you speak for all of the church. There are those who believe that not only do we love the gay community, we support them and hope they will find loving committed same sex relationships.
The whole love talk sounds like trying to pacify either side, side-stepping the actual issue. And pastor Alex’s speech about love being the bottom line is a truism. We know we should love, but what do we do about the deep disagreement? And you want to be the catalyst for dialogue with this video, yet it’s still incredibly one-sided and stands on many presumptions about both the gay and christian communities to which some may not adhere, making communication difficult.
Hey Fourage, I understand your concerns and you're right, the Korean Christian community is way behind in terms of discussing this issue, but that is not the intent of this episode. Christians r hypocrites! I'll tell u y:
Christians believe in the trinity (new testament).
Jews believe God is one, is immutable, has no form, is eternally consistent and His laws are FOREVER (old testament).
Leviticus is in the Old Testament, which is strictly for Jews & Jews ONLY.
Jesus was a jew who taught the OT, so y do christians care what leviticus says when it's in the OT & only for jews?
Christians r supposed 2 B like Jesus, an ultra-liberal jew, b/c if not they just worship money.
