  • ANGUS IS CORRECT

VAN HALEN ARE A POP BAND

  • "Pop" stands for "popular music," and Van Halen was definitely being played on pop music stations. AC/DC has never been played on pop music stations, but that doesn't mean they were not super popular at the time. Pop radio categorizes songs based on audience preference and sales figures. AOR stations would play both VH and AC/DC. Pop stations would play VH. That's where Angus is coming from. Not a diss, not putting VH in their place. Just a fact. AC/DC didn't get pop radio airplay.End of story.

  • Angus was not disrespecting Van Halen. AC/DC is heavy metal. Van Halen is hard rock with softer, danceable tunes. This stupid "rivalry" or "battle of the bands" bullsh** is created by morons like the interviewer who want to CREATE controversy. AC/DC skews mainly male, whereas Van Halen is a kind of 60/40 split because of the softer songs, and Dave's sexuality. Music is not a competition. It's music. Like it or don't, but one isn't better or worse than the other. That's a subjective argument.

  • what was so bad about that? He's off, but he wasnt dissing VH. funny, but AC/DC isnt pop, but theyre one of the most danceable hard rock band I can think of. Their drums just lock in.

  • ac/dc - the most overrated rock band ever. very little talent.

  • Seems to me like people picture pop as only being music from artists from: lady gaga, michael jackson, madonna, britney spears, etc. The word "pop" is far more vague than that... Van Halen is Pop, in some way.

  • Eddie Van Halen has stated on several occasions that hes a fan of AC/DC, first of which can be heard on a radio interview the band did in 1980 so i cant imagine there being any rivalry there. With regards to Van Halen being pop they probably do have a few more "popier" songs (like Dance the Night Away etc.) than AC/DC but a lot of heavier songs in their arsenal as well like On Fire. Van Halen are personally my favorite but AC/DC are also awesome! :D

  • Van Halen redifined rock. AC/DC was a good band. No comparison.

  • @ArizonaMMJ I don't think they redifined it but they were great...I prefer AC/DC but I think he meant they were more mainstream kind of like all hairbands were in the 80s The people that listened to them were not as hard as AC/DC fans were. awesome videos by VanHalen though! I love both myself and cruising the beach in a jeep with the top off and the windshield put down to "the cradle will rock" priceless! When it came party time crank up AC/DC!

  • he's 100% right... AC/DC is a band without pretention...they're just a straight forward rock n roll band and have never tried to pretend they reinvented the wheel unlike KISS or Metallica

  • OSTIE TABARNAKE,,C,TES BON CES TOUTE,...

  • The rivalry question was loaded.Had they asked VH the same question, there's no telling what the answer might have been.Angus is as diplomatic here as you'll ever see him, but, Pop isn't the best description of Van Halen.Now...Van Hagar on the other hand,it's debatable.I'm sure Eddie doesn't consider himself a "pop guitar god" - Either way, they jam. What do you wanna bet Angus never had a VH poster in his room, but, I'd also bet Eddie had an AC/DC poster somewhere-or at least a f-ing t-shirt. funny

  • @splurging247 Wolfgang mentioned that he listens to ACDC....Eddie replied approvingly "he gets that from me". There is no controversy between these two band, although they probably tried to make one for publicity for this tour. .

  • to all faggot journalist's.... u cant play my cock.. so why dont u just shut the fuck up and die !!!!!

  • POP... come on people Van Halen are Rockers.. Hard core Atomic Punk..Mean Streets... Rockin and rollin.. And AC/DC has a sound of thier own... If you want blood... Night Prowler... TNT... Rock on ... both of these bands are far from being Pop... back then Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cyndie Lauper was POP.. now we have Britney Spears Katie Perry Lady GAGA that is pop for this generation. Long Live Rock n Roll..

  • brothers and sisters.....lets not fight..lol...we have bigger battles to fight. Long live VH and ACDC.

  • @adstanra **Yes, I agree, long live vh and ac/dc

  • "Pop" wasn't meant as a slight. It's not always a derogatory term.

  • @JasonsVinylObsession - "Pop" wasn't meant as a slight. It's not always a derogatory term"

Yeah, this video is from the 80's when POP music did not have the same negative meaning it has today, it more stood for Popular, wheras today Pop music has become pretty much synonymous with auto tuned crap. Heck even Jimi Hendrix was called POP by some journalists back in the 60's

  • AC/DC will always be more approachable and down to earth and more well liked as people compared to those douchebags VH with the exception of Mike Anthony who I'm told is a super guy!

  • oh gimmie a break, AC/DC will always be the better band. but mr. eddie van halen is an amazing guitar player.

  • Just personal preference but I find myself listening to AC/DC way more than Van Halen these days, they both make my top 10 bands list of all time. AC/DC however just may be #1!

  • I like AC/DC better than Van Halen. Never really liked the whole keyboard thing Van Halen did, but I must admit, EVH is a hell of a guitar player.

  • Come on people. Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill. All he said that they were a little more pop than AC/DC. To that I say he's right. But, that's not putting Van Halen in their place. The interviewer is trying to get him to say something controversial but Angus didn't bite. Good on him. Some people are always looking for some controversy and some journalist are always looking to stir the shit because they have nothing worth writing about.

  • @darkoanton5 Van Halen is too soft that should not belong to Rock & Roll!!

    Poser!

  • @darkoanton5 - Absolutely. I despise rock journalists trying to write that fans of one group should hate another group by conjuring up this false rivalry between bands in order to sell magazines. Also, Angus was smart enough to know that fans of Van Halen might actually like AC/DC, so why alienate his own fans?

  • @DanteCubit3000 You make an excellent point.

  • @perkalov well they sure did transform the song through the cover didnt they open up your mind a little AC DC cant make any good covers and not even any original material

  • hey little Anus Young go put your little school boy O level suit on and learn at least a second cheap blues lick to repeat over and over again on another 3 or 4 albums left for you brother to scrawl out.

  • more of a poop band did he say?

  • Things these 2 bands have in common:

    -Bands of Brothers

    -Rock Legends

-Drunk as fuck in their early days

  • AC/DC, in my opinion is better than Van Halen... But Van Halen is still good

  • Angus looks like Tom Hanks with big hair here, lol

  • john pettrucci or paul gilbert are damn good all around guitarist

  • acdc's stuff tends to sound the same to me

  • lol okay you decide, you really got me by van halen or back in black by ac dc im pretty sure ac dc is more pop than van halen.

  • @MrAtomicBalls

So your best shot at Van Halen doing a "hard rock" song is a cover of an -60s rock/hard rock song, they havnt yet managed to write some by them self then?

  • Comment removed

  • Van Halen was best with the first 2 albums. Your stupid if you dont think they rocked.

  • @rvhawkeye shit yeah the early van halen albums are easily as good as anything ac/dc did

  • The only time Van Halen was good was when they had Sammy...

  • @JordnBee You sir, are the ultimate reverse barometer. If everybody believes the opposite of what you say about 99% of the time, they will probably be better for it. It was with 5150 that Van Halen DID become a pop band. They were a great, hard-edged rock band until Eddie decided to play keyboards instead of guitar. What a shame.

  • @verywavy Sammy's the better vocalist. 'Nuff said.

  • Comment removed

  • @verywavy

    Jump???

  • ill take van halen any day of the week

  • I didn't see Angus "putting Van Halen in their place". He just said that Van Halen was more of a "Pop" band than they were. How is that "putting it in their face"? "Pop" music is short for "POPULAR MUSIC". I suppose Angus could have been cutting on Van Halen by saying that they are "lighter" or "less threatening" than ACDC. I hope not, because Eddie was a FAR better guitar player than Angus. ACDC was generally harder, but not better than old Van Halen.

  • @TopGun8993

I agree with you TopGun8993..............I agree with you 100%

  • To say that AC/DC isn't better than Van Halen is just plain ignorant. AC/DC revolutionized rock n' roll. I love Van Halen, too. Shut up & stop rating bands.

  • @slapshot37GNR

why don't YOU shut up and 'start' rating bands PROPERLY!!!! (asshole)

  • guitarists are all guilty (especially the try hard know it alls) of placing the guitar in a too prominant position when it comes to the song-i mean the guitar should serve the song not vice versa-both these bands were 1st to play their particular brand of rock-i mean who hasn't hit 3 chords trying to write a song and thought fuck thats another acdc song-and with vanhalen it was how the fuck do i get the brown tone eddie has -both bands hugely influential.fact

  • Van Halen has it's faults, but AC/DC has been releasing the same album with a different title over and over for 30+ years. Totally one of the most overrated rock bands ever. And the school boy uniform is just downright creepy.

  • @SpiritsAndPhantoms i completely agree with you. imo ac/dc could never ever match up to van halen.

  • @SpiritsAndPhantoms Eat Balls Douche!! AC/DC have been kickin ass forever. Isnt that just like any asswipe who thinks they are a musical genius and know everything about music, to say AC/DC songs all sound the same. When you get down to it, they are all about ballsy and bluesy hard rock and they stick to their roots. All great blues guitarist do the same thing. So eat shit!

PS...the schoolboy uniform is iconic in rock, so obviously it works.

  • @RiffRaff606 You gotta love it when some "Metal up yer ass" douche comes on and erupts in to a fit of butthurt.

  • @SpiritsAndPhantoms I never said to be some full out "fuck yeah! Metal rules" type of guy. I like everything from Metal..to Folk. But the least you could do is show some respect for guys who have worked hard to be where they are. You should respect anyone who can play music. So dont get such an erection cause you think your some great music critic whos opinion matters

  • @RiffRaff606 Show some respect to a grown man in his 50's who thinks it's cute to wear a school boy uniform? I repeat my original statement, ACDC has been releasing the same album for over 20 years. They have no range. And it's "whose" not whos. And I am only voicing my own opinion, just as you are.

  • @SpiritsAndPhantoms You know why he wears it? Cause the fans want him to. He thought about ditching it in the 80s even. And thats why AC/DC is a great band. they do things for their fans. And if you really listened you would find that they arent making the same album.. just same style and feel, like their fans want. Their albums have contrast Look at Chuck Berry! he even used the same damn riff in a lot of songs, and he is a very important person to Rock music. sorry for my grammatical error.

  • The interviewer is stupid....neither VH or AC/DC is "metal".....it's just Rock n Roll.

  • If I was playing hard rock guitar solos like Angus, and then suddenly heard Eddie play, I would want to slit my wrists, too.

  • @termsofusepolice

hahhahahaa, yes, i agree 100% termsofusepolice..........

    hahhahaa lmao

  • There's no diss in what Angus said. He did not say Van Halen was a POP band. He just basically said Van Halen had more of a pop flavour as opposed to AC/DC.

Gee...people need to chill. I am sure if Angus wanted to say something bad about VH he would have used slightly different words then what you just heard.

Once Eddie Van Halen started fcking around with keyboard/synths sounds and then added Sammy Hagar they DID sound more "poppish"..

  • Angus Young was and 'is' a lame guitarist who was clearly jealous of Edward Van Halen so in his insecurity of trying to be a man while trapped in a school-boy's outfit, the loser had no other recourse but JEALOUSY so he needed to cut down Eddie Van Halen, so go suck a cock & then shove it up your ass all you Angus Young Faggots........hahhahahaaa lmao,,,,,plus, Angus needed Guitar Lessons, and Eddie would have been nice enough and kind enough to show Angus how to play the guitar properly!!! lol

  • @radiationsnowman ..is Eddie your boyfriend or something?

  • @coltsuperocean10

no eddie is not my boyfriend, but, clearly, angus young is 'YOUR' boyfriend,,,lmao

  • @radiationsnowman how is that clear? Not the sharpest tool in the toolbox are you? American by any chance hahahaha

  • @radiationsnowman That dickhead has admitted he doesn't even know what he's playing.

  • He didn't rally say anything negative.. He just said that Van Halen is more pop than ac/dc, which is true.

  • all these people saying they hate certain guitarist, You try righting a fucking number one single you pieces of shit

  • the proper way to spell it is "writing".ya, that's right.."writing"&NOT how you attempted to spell it.YOU spelled it like this: 'righting',so,now that i've established that you are incapable of spelling common words, my next point to you is that Angus Young was and 'is' a lame guitarist who was clearly jealous of Edward Van Halen so in his insecurity of trying to be a man trapped in a school-boy's outfit, the loser had no other recourse but JEALOUSY so go suck a cock & then shove it up your ass

  • @radiationsnowman bro go get laid then smoke some bud

  • @radiationsnowman I HATE THE FUCKING SPELLING POLICE ..GET A LIFE BUTTPLUG

  • I totally agree with Angus. Van Halen is a formula "hard rock" band. They re-formatted riffs that got the most air play on the radio. Much like Nickelback does today.

ACDC is an original band. Borrowing of course from the Blues, but much like Led Zeppelin, they made it their own. Especially with Bon Scott. There is no comparison.

  • @bluegreenmonkey my bonny is over the ocean - my bonny is over the sea - my bonny is over the ocean o bring back my bonny to me to me - bring back bring back o bring back my bonny to me.

  • they're both incredible guitar players with unique styles so why does it matter who is better I love both bands to death

  • In my head's dictionary Van Halen is equally same position with ACDC. Sorry but that's I AM.

  • Van Halen may be a pop rock band but what is the big deal about the comments Angus made? it's not like he is ripping on them.

  • metal sux lol

  • Really bad video title.

  • To bad van halen does sound all the same

  • @jaggerpapac hahah that's a joke right?

  • anyone can take this how they want to. when ozzy first came out with the live and loud video his little son back then said"my daddy's a pop star". does it really mean anything?musics music. if you like it like it if you dont..... change the station..

  • Angus was right- They were different. AC/DC was more "gut bucket / back in the alley" type rock. Whereas, VH was more polished, more showy. Angus wasn't saying he was better or worse than Eddie. All he said was that he was different.

  • Van Halen has only three small weaknesses in their entire career, which are their last two albums (Balance was decent, but I think we can all safely say that Van Halen III was shit) having too many lead singers and replacing Michael Anthony with Wolfgang Van Halen. Van Halen's first twenty years both with David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar were almost flawless.

  • Also, Van Halen has a much better guitarist (Eddie Van Halen places higher than Angus Young on Rolling Stones list of top guitarists, a magazine that opposed Van Halen for the first ten years of their career) they have a much better stage presence with David Lee Roth's antics and they work better together as a group with a good rhythm section from Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony.

  • Comment removed

  • Being a pop band isn't necessarily a bad thing, but Van Halen is much better than AC/DC and here's why... "Van Halen's music doesn't all sound exactly the same". Van Halen actually has many different kinds of music including punk rock, glam metal, heavy metal, hard rock, blues rock, acoustic, piano, synthesizer and power ballads. AC/DC on the other hand is good, but keeps churning out the same old shit over and over again. Aerosmith is also better than AC/DC for the genre that they're in.

  • Angus seems so shy, the journalist could have asked anything out of him.

  • LOL! Van Halen had way more talent at every position than AC/DC.

  • @51Thundersticks it's not about who has more talent than the other. Is about making music that peope like to listen to

  • angus owns vh, love it

  • If people would listen more of Van Halen's material between the first and 1984, there is plenty of 'hard rock' to go around. All radio really plays are 'Panama' and 'Jump'... but listen to Mean Street, Loss of Control, D.O.A. Even then, Hard Rock is a broad and subjective term. Van Halen catered more to the fun/party animal side of it and AC/DC- heavier and more serious.

  • @sirlordwhitman - Bottoms Up from Van Halen 2 is great stuff

  • @sirlordwhitman

Yes, I agree with your comment 100% sirlordwhitman.....right on......give 'er da cock!!!!!

  • @sirlordwhitman ..more serious? AC/DC doesn't have a single serious song.

  • @lowlypeasant You have to admit that when Brian Johnson came in the band, they took on a tougher, more serious approach - 'Hells Bells', 'Shoot to Thrill', 'Snowballed', and 'Rising Power' as opposed to their party rock era with Bon Scott - 'Big Balls', 'Dirty Deeds', 'Love at First Feel'...'Jailbreak' etc.. Van Halen were just a bunch of flashy crooners looking for a piece of ass.. Hard Rock all the same.. but with different styles.

  • @sirlordwhitman are you fucking kidding me?

  • @sirlordwhitman Radiohead is serious, AC/DC is not. But I agree that it is spitting hairs to say Van Halen is Pop and AC/DC is hard rock (or whatever). To me, they both started out brilliant, had a good run, then became a total joke.

  • @lowlypeasant hhaaaahahahahahahahaaaaaaa serious????? hhahahahahahahahhahahaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah loohahahahahahahahahaha houndafvadfvibpmadpfbmadkmmpjfeqopm hahahahahahahhahahahah

  • @lowlypeasant Radiohead may be "serious". Unfortunately, they're also shit.

  • I already did respond Polentaccio...hahaha so there, tuck that under yerr hat!

  • FUCK OFF ANGUS, AND ALL YOU AC/DC FANS.,ANGUS YOUNG IS NOT EVEN AN EYELASH ON EDDIE VAN HALEN, AND ANGUS YOUNG IS ONLY JEALOUS OF EDDIE VAN HALEN, SO, FUCK OFF ANGUS AND GO TAKE SOME GUITAR LESSONS FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF EDDIE VAN HALEN..WOW,,,WHAT STUPID BULLSHIT, SAYING VAN HALEN WAS A POP BAND,,,'RUNNING WITH THE DEVIL',,,ERUPTION, AIN'T TALKIN' ABOUT LOVE, ATOMIC PUNK, SOMEBODY GET ME A DOCTOR?? FUCK OFF 'POP' BAND,..ABBA WAS A POP BAND NOT VAN HALEN YOU MENTALLY DERANGED AC/DC FAGGOT!!

  • @radiationsnowman why don't you tell us how you really feel?? lol..both are great guitar players and both have left a legacy. Different styles but both unique the minute you hear them hit a note.

  • @radiationsnowman Man. You need to see a therapist.

  • @MrJDCUSA

u need a fkn therapist and a psychiatrist bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @radiationsnowman

    dude calm down you're overreacting.

  • @radiationsnowman do you know what pop is? Pop can be any genre. Guns n roses was also a pop band because they made many songs that fits to the majority of the public. And abba is disco btw. stupid asshole.

  • I REMEMBER THIS IN A GUITAR MAGAZINE ANGUS SAID MALCOM IS A BETTER PLAYER THAN EDDIE AND EDDIES PLAYING SEEMED TO BE WHAT OTHER GUITARIST DID WHILE PRACTICING- I REALLY DONT KNOW ABOUT THAT BUT I AGREED THAT EDDIE WASNT THE BEST AS EVERYONE WAS CLAIMING-IM A JOE PERRY FAN

  • Stupid heading from someone that will ruin yourube

  • Van Halen was a more pop band...not really a putdown...just a fact.

  • How can you say I'm definitley wrong when your making statements that include words like if im not mistaken and i dont think. It sounds like a rush to judment on inconclusive facts at best. And i no I'm not wrong that back in black out sold all the vanhalen albums put together which was your origainal statement.

  • I like AC DC but i consider Van considerably way more melodic and versitile versus AC's sometimes boring R an B overkills,

  • @charmenchanter I second that :-)

  • Yo dawg, I heard you like YouTube videos so I recorded a YouTube video and put it up in YouTube.

  • I agree with FIREDOGNATE 'S post . I would hate to do without one to have the other .

  • to mafa 1619- You should' nt print fiction like that , to say ac/dc all of VANHALENS albums is pure fiction . I woud be willing to bet that back in black wasnt even ac/dc's best selling album.

  • @blkmustang71

Well you would be wrong about that sir. Back in black if im not mistaken is the second or third best selling album...ever. And I dont think im wrong haha.

  • @blkmustang71

Not saying that the other guy is right though. Having one without the other would suck

  • Angus isn't even 5 feet tall! He isn't putting anybody anywhere...

  • @MrVHWolf Napoleon wasn't even 5 feet tall.. Of what I've heard he was quite successfull

  • Comparing ACDC to VH is like comparing a girl with great tits to a girl with an incredible ass, I hope we never have to go without either. There is no guitarist, anywhere in the world, that can compare to Eddie in his prime. Comparing Angus to Eddie is like comparing Butter Bean to Muhammed Ali.

  • Whatever. Plenty of room (and money) for all of this.

  • Angus's got big balls.

  • I love them both as true rock guitarists, but let's call a spade a spade. "Back In Black" by itself has sold more than every Van Halen album combined.

  • Van Halen tears AC/DC to shreds when it comes to the rock aspect of their music. Angus can still rip it up though.

  • both bands rocked.....AC/DC was considered the harder rock band, remember acid rock???. But now AC/DC is on every commercial selling shit to my grandmother for fuck sake.....tell me it's not true.....Van Halen rocks, best American rock band of all time

  • AC/DC rocks forever!

  • they both suck. not trolling. choking victim is real music

  • in the end we've found that ACDC it's the better band, their still kickin ass but poor Eddie can't get out of the fog, as it were, a real shame that such talent is lost, if I was to have to

chose the best guitar player ever it'd be Eddie, he found so many new and creative guitars sounds, the only one who may have been better if given the time was Jimi Hendrix, at his best he burned up the guitar, and in more than way

  • Angus is not trying to "put Van Halen in it's place" so the person who posted this video is playing with words. Is ACDC harder than Van Halen? Yeah. But Van Halen is still in the Hard Rock category with a more pop sound, just like Angus said. And I'm more of a VH fan than an ACDC fan.

  • who cares man i dont want to repeat myself but i will say it again, angus'sound is generic

not too difficult to duplicate.eddie added to his balls to the wall playin an amazing technique that angus couldnt hold a candle to the wind with.and also in guitar polls he is above angus.angus raised the bar for hard rock true but eddie tore the lid off it.

  • why argue about whos better? just enjoy the music by two of the greatest rock bands of all times!

  • Angus.....one of the most UNDER-RATED gutarist of all time.

  • Ok acdc is rock and roll van halen is a lighter form of it but definetely still rock and roll and do not even compare young to eddie.. Eddie changed the way guitar is played and made tapping popular young couldent play the first 15 seconds of eruption without shitting his pants and would blow up his volume knob trying to attempt cathedral

  • Angus couldn't pull half the licks Eddie does

  • @brunthroath6912 he don't have to, van halen needs all those notes to make a point. Angus can do it with only one note. Maybe that's wht Back in Black record has sold 3X as many records as van halen has sold total records....hmmmmmm

  • @beergut111 Yea and its the same old song over and over

  • @brunthroath6912 Van Halen is the most overrated piece of shit to walk the planet, with Jimmy Page and Zakk Wylde closely tied for second place.

  • @stormblast973 yes the most inventive guitar player there ever was the coolest singer ever the fastest but solid drummer ever... yep they're over rated alright (if you so much as write back saying Edd wasn't inventive you are the most guitarted person to walk the planet lol)

  • @TheMAJofficial what eruption??? ain't talkin bout love ??? HOT FOR TEACHER???????

gimme a fucking break Angus would fucking kill him with one first position chord.

Beside the fact Van Halen is the cockiest d-bag this side of Malmsteen.

  • @stormblast973 Jimmy page overated? Technique wise maybe but the dude created some of the most awesome riffs ever. Really.. who do you like? Micheal Angelo batio?

  • @brunthroath6912 Communication Breakdown...O.K. one point for you. Batio is fucking clown shoes!! If we're talking old shit I'd have to go with Scorpions,U.F.O. OLD Pink Floyd (none of that darkside of...the wall horseshit although Animals and the material after the wall was quite killer..) shit even the Moody Blues. For the shred ?? Satch , Paul Gilbert , Buckethead .

  • @stormblast973 Nice shredder choices my friend, Darkside and the wall horseshit?? LOL omg dude how can you say something like that.

  • @brunthroath6912 They were Roger Waters' albums , used as vehicles for his whiny-ass "concept" albums. They both have 1 or 2 decent tunes on them, but overall TOTALLY lame when stood next to their other material. I may hate Rogers even more than Van Halen just for the fact his "artistic **sniff** (I miss my papa)**visions" trashed an excellent band. Van Halen was always shit ,so how can you fuck that up? I never cared for those 2 albums, but really dig the others. They annoy me.

  • @stormblast973 Radio is to blame for that I think. Pounding that crap into my brain over&over&over&over again relentlessly.I wonder how many people those are the only 2 albums they released.Ah well point is Rogers should have quit his bitching and moping. Like no one else deals with the same issues. I want to hear great music not "boo-hoo ,but no one understands my arty temperment and I have sensitive feelings" Not that being emotional is wrong, but holy shit it never ends with that dude!!

  • @stormblast973 Anyway he should have just listened to Frank.

SHUT THE FUCK UP......AND SPANK THAT DAMN GUITAR!!!!

  • @stormblast973 You're right, Pink floyd would have alot more soul if Roger wasn't in the band right?.. and would probably sound like any other sleeping pill album from David Gilmour. Van Halen broke barriers with EVH's guitar tapping techniques, riffs and still remained pure rock and roll in their David lee Roth years. Music in general and rock has become so shitty nowadays and here you are bashing VH like its shit. Blows my mind dude blows my mind...

  • Both bands suck.

  • @MIKEPEARTNOY Dream theater suck!!! "We went to Berklee for about 2 and half weeks!! At least we can say we were there!! Thinking is hard though!!"

    D-BAGS!!

  • angus has generic riffs.and repeats himself.

eddie tore the lid off of guitar.and everybody knows it.

  • @YeshuaISMessiah1 Who cares. It's not about how technical you can be. Malmsteen puts Eddie to shame in that department as well. It's Angus' SOUND. When he plays, you know it's him and tohusands of others have tried to copy that sound.

  • Man people will make up shit just for the hell of it. Angus is hardly putting VH "in their place"

  • @Soulgrenade yes he is ,certainly in this instance,he did. " .. a pop-band" that's a category not rocknroll, metal not blues not rap - no other level but what he's implied here. no shit made up - angus put vh in a place that he call's 'pop'

  • @Soulgrenade but vh is a pop band!!!

  • why the hell would you post this, its fuckin dummb

  • @dancolbiel483 I don't think its dumb its funny. anytime someone slams eddie vanhalen its funny because he deserves it.

  • old grey whistle test donington episode

  • 00:07 lol where's the ORIGINAL youtube that you videotaped this from? That one probably has much better audio...

  • Angus is right. They are not the same kind of rock as AC/DC. VH is more 'Pop', but are still rockers. AC/DC is definately heavier...each have their own place in RnR.

  • FUCKING RIGHT MAN!

  • Ac/dc totally rocks, but back in the late 70's Eddie Van Halen totally changed the face of rock'n'roll. I wonder if the pop comment has to do with Jump and Pretty Woman.

  • Van Halen's music has a little pop, hard rock, and metal elements depending the song. You could make the case AC/DC does as well....especially their 1990 plus stuff. Both great bands. Apples and oranges. However, Eddie Van Halen is one of the greatest guitar players of all-time.

  • i think we all know the famous "finger tapping" technique that eddie made so popular. angus uses that all the time ..... all the time. I can name a bunch of bands that sound like AC DC. but there's only one Van Halen.

  • @scotialous21 Angus uses hammer-ons a lot, but name I challenge you to name one AC/DC tune he taps on....

  • @superflea72 two's up

  • @superflea72 let there be rock he uses the edge of his pick to tap. not like van halen but i guess it counts.
