well, there's not necessarily guinea pig ''breeds'' , a ''guinea pig'' is a ''guinea pig'' , just cuz they come in different colors, doesn't techniqually mean their a different breed :P , it's just in their nature to be in different colors, and textures :P

@TheLostHeartless Yes, there are breeds. When you say "a guinea pig is a guinea pig" you are referring to the species.

Just as all dogs are dogs and all horses are horses, there are still different breeds within the species.

@fluffy12383 Completely bald pigs are called Baldwins. There is also the more common breed called a Skinny Pig that is bald except for some "fuzz" on its face. It took years and years of genetic breeding to create those breeds.

do male guinea pigs get along. i adopted an 8 month old american male and he seems lonely. i want to get a male abyssinian about the same age. will they fight? thanks.

actually thats just a myth. from what i've seen, males get along better than females, but it just depends on each individual pig. a male and a female almost always have no problems getting along though. :)

thanks. ive also heard that you have to keep them in a different cage at night. i was wondering if you had to because cages are really expensive and i didn't want to make another C&C.

as long as you have a spacious cage... the pigs can do popcorns or laps when they feel the need to and they have an appropriate size feeding area and sleep area then you only need one cage.
