That's because when it comes down to tournament status, there is no gulf coast in the finals...or there hasn't been a bigger rival than the west coast and the east coast ever.

Respect is earned, not demanded and hoped to be attained. If you really want respect, pick up your stick and make it to EVO or MLG...only then will people recognize that the gulf coast has talent.

If not, you can sit there and watch East/West coast go at it at home.

No, if you listened, Triforce is saying that Ryu has a natural advantage over Rufus.

Ryu's DP and Fireballs easily counter and prevent Rufus from being able to get in to attack. Rufus also needs to be in close to attack and Ryu's moves help keep Rufus out. Combine that with Daigo's ability to mess with your mind and the Rufus-Ryu (Daigo) matchup becomes close to Rufus 1 - Ryu 9

Totally agree. Kindevu's Rufus gives Daigo a big fat run for his money. Justin is just finding an excuse to save face cuz he got whipped hard lol.

That said, he probably didn't have much experience against master-class Ryus like Daigo so he'd probably be better prepared at Evo 09.

after Evo9 u prolly see better Balrogs then Justin in Jpn. N.counter for Abel now will be officially Ryu since his abel loss. If they admit proJpn are overall better i'll give them the respect . Marn and these guys makes me felt otherwise. Daigo took all that trash talk about him and prove to the world that he alone can take on Evo9 ,it will surely be one sided match if Mago , Momochi , Nemo , Ojisanboy , Akimo etc came to Evo9 1st , 2nd , 3rd would 100% be different & Daigo might not even win.

if you lost to a blanka scrub than your obviously not that good yourself. i've seen videos of pro vega players beating pro blanka players even though blanka favors that matchup by a landslide. i can understand justin using that excuse if that match was close since its in a bit of favor of ryu in that matchup but he lost 4-0. theres no excuse to not even winning a single round

This all sounds like a great way to build hype for Evo. After watching this, I really hope Justin faces Daigo at some point during the tournament. Seeing them go at it in the finals would certainly be something.

And Rufus IS a bad matchup against Ryu.

You do realize that Ryu is "ranked" high because of Daigo right? Much like Dhalsim moving up because of Iyo. Daigo wasnt very good at SF4 when he first started playing it, but that has changed. He is the only top seed Ryu player really in the world. Mostly Sagats fill up the top 5 and a mix of others, but very few Ryu's.

I wouldn't say he's the only top Ryu out there. I know Daigo is good. In fact, Daigo is REALLY GOOD. But I disagree that Daigo is the reason that Ryu is top-tier.

Daigo is just the most well known Ryu player. But there are others who uses him just as well. Even if Daigo picked Sagat, there will be others that figure out all of Ryu's strengths just like Daigo did.

Poongko figured everything out too. But Poongko never uses fireballs and is a bit too aggressive.
