The students were not rude. The offered a polite greeting and then asked a very simple question. Congressman Etheridge is a public figure and after a decade in the House, should be accustomed to hearing questions from all sorts of people. Come on, two young people in suits and ties asking a simple question is not rude. Well, unless you construe rude as asking a question of a congressman. It is battery and he should be sued for that tort as well as arrested for the crime.
It is not polite to shove a camera into anyone's face demanding an answer to any quiestion. He may as well have asked the question thru a bull horn. The appropriate approach is to introduce yourself, state your purpose, ask permission to question, then ask the question. This street confrontation could have made the Congressman late for a scheduled meeting.
After asking the question the inquisitor should then thank the congressman for his time. Simple manners open doors.

There is a proper way to approach a public servant on the street with a camera for an interview. First identify yourself, and second state your purpose. Third ask the congressman for an interview. He may generously grant an interview if he knew who was asking and for what purpose. I think his rude response was to a disrespectful approach. There is nothing right about this whole incident. The students were rude and should have identified themselves and their purpose. The congressman was alittle aggressive and crossed the line into physical violence. The congressman should have said, "I am sorry, I am late for an appointment." and then the congressman should have walked away.

The students were not rude. The offered a polite greeting and then asked a very simple question. Congressman Etheridge is a public figure and after a decade in the House, should be accustomed to hearing questions from all sorts of people. Come on, two young people in suits and ties asking a simple question is not rude. Well, unless you construe rude as asking a question of a congressman. It is battery and he should be sued for that tort as well as arrested for the crime.

It is not polite to shove a camera into anyone's face demanding an answer to any quiestion. He may as well have asked the question thru a bull horn. The appropriate approach is to introduce yourself, state your purpose, ask permission to question, then ask the question. This street confrontation could have made the Congressman late for a scheduled meeting.
After asking the question the inquisitor should then thank the congressman for his time. Simple manners open doors.

There is a proper way to approach a public servant on the street with a camera for an interview. First identify yourself, and second state your purpose. Third ask the congressman for an interview. He may generously grant an interview if he knew who was asking and for what purpose. I think his rude response was to a disrespectful approach. I don't know if the students understood how to be respectful when asking for an interview.

This Congressman needs to resign. He has violated this students individual rights. The students were not disrespectful. This congressman is doing exactly what the Dear Leader and the dems have been saying Arizona is doing - We want to see you papers! Can you say Projection. The real problem is that we need to follow the constitution and have 1 representative for 30,000 people. Yes that is a lot of them but they would be held more accountable to us.
