  • I love Nollywood movies.Although some movies are often copycat of previously successful movie.Quality of production and poor acting is often an issue with some unknown directors. It is heart warming that the director encourages his actors to talk like real Africans and gesticulate typical of our way of communication. What distinguishes Nollywood from the other film industries is that it is often embedded with immense messages and knowledge.Keep up the great work !

  • @tomthumbtoo obviously u don't know much about Nigeria or any third world country. Being Nigerian I've actually been there. There can be no electricity for days at a time. All the roads have major potholes some are big enough for a f-150 to get stuck in. The government sucks. And after all this they do something good. So if u ha e a problem with a nigerian movie don't watch them. Go back to American movies that teach you no lesson at the end. Close ur eyes, don't buy them or don't even go on th

  • im a South African inlove with Nigerian entertainment, thank you for this great previledge and for blessing us

  • NollyWood rocks!

  • I am an African American... ..In America, blacks have no culture, except only that of what we have been taught by Western Culture.. I love all the expressions of sincerity, and integrity that's portrayed in these films.. I love them !!! I understand more now about the expressions used in your films, and appreciate the comment one of the producers made~ about expression~ "not like western civilization"... KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK !

  • ooo la la my SEXAY RAMSEY! HE IS WELL ARTICULATED AND VERY TALENTED! more grease to your elbows my sexy!

  • Luxury Shipping Lines ship cars, oilwell supplies, personal items domestic and international.

  • Finally something positive about Africa. I think part of the reason why a lot of Hollywood films fail on an international level is because people can't relate to their films. Write something that will either make people laugh hard, or cry hard.

  • nigerians,we are always ok with less.improvement is not in our vocabulary.is ok to shoot movie in one wk,is ok 2 work without light,it's ok 2 work on bad roads.ppl with this notion tends to convince other ppl that it's ok 2 live like that and we should accept the govt the way it is.we can demand for change and then shoot better movies like every other ppl.but we first have to accept the fact that we should criticize ourselves when we are doing somthing wrong.9ja movie is elementary standard !

  • @ucmc45 then do something about it! It is very easy to complain and list our negatives! we can do that till the end of this world comes. If u, like many other aren't satisfied by the standard then make efforts to change it. Take directorial classes and go film secondary standard or excellent standard or whatever standard that ISN'T elementary. COMPLAINTS WITHOUT ACTIONS GETS US NOWHERE.

  • @lilianvill i said "we must first criticize ourselves".i've been in USA for yrs and am planning 2 go 4 a visit in nigeria this march.to be honest with u,am not into film biz but am into something that if embraced will improve the country way better than movies.am a university graduate b4 i can here and i had the opportunity 2 go and study one of this fancy courses here but i choose not to rather i choose something when applied in our system will improve us.that's my field, what is yours?

  • @ucmc45 YOU ARE ASKING ME WHAT IS MMY FIELD? I WASNN'T THE ONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE MOVIES AND IT BEING elementary standard. Anyways I am a University student and NO I don't study filmography or anything of that sorts. But I know that if I wanted to TRULY make a genuine Nollywood film of great quality and standard (technical-wise) I can; I just have to designate some time out of my daily schedule and take a class or two in films. Good luck on the "something" that you are working on & GOD bless.

  • @lilianvill u see the problem is u think u have 2 be in filmography to make a change.what about govt, what about construction, what about science/technology and most of all what about being just a critic.in america they have ppl their job is 2 criticize movies.they are not film techs, jus criticize it and let the film tech and producers fix the problem and it worked like that.criticizing is not a bad thing,it's jus pointing out faults and anybody can do it.is all in the game yo.stay chill peace.

  • good job guys, keep it up.

  • good job guys, keep it up

  • you make Africa look good thank you guyz,am not frm 9ja but am proud and i so much Stella and Rita Dominic.

  • guerrilla? yep thats correct, hehehee

  • It'll be good to see some pro movies out of Africa

    French Films

    Brit Films

    American Films

    Japanese <3

it'll be great to see what becomes of this. An entirly new style of films could clearly evolve in a few years time.

  • god bless and keep up the good work

  • At least they used real nollywood actors and actresses to do this documentary finally. I love how they included widow in their documentary. I love that movie, it made me cry, stella is such a great actress.

  • BLINGBLINGACTS1

    YEP!!!!

  • YEP!!!!!

  • I wish they would shoot on FILM. Peace.

  • I love this style :) Fire brigade film making is what we'll be doing on Home Grown Stories!

  • These movies have horrible acting but they are entertaining. I like it. Its better than those bullshit movies on sci fi.

  • American blockbusters rarely even connect with their own audiences either.

  • Where are the dark skinned people? Why does this happen in the entire industry?

  • @chadsexinton

There are darkskin nigerians in nollywood. If you watch the movies, you'll notice there are more darkskin and brownskin individuals than light. An example would be Geneive nnaji and ini edo

  • @chadsexinton

what is people's issue with light skin people overall? even if there are 10 light skin actors in the whole of Nollywood, people will still find a problem.

Nigeria is very diverse in skin tones (especially the Igbos, which dominate the English side of Nollywood) so if there are a lot of light skin people, i really don't see the issue.

Nollywood is DIVERSE, and some insecure people will always find a problem with something.

  • @chadsexinton ermmm are u blind dint u see dark skinned people in the vid 0_0.....nigerians dont over indulge in the skin color issue

  • i am jamican mon

  • why the heck are they sub titled?! are they not speaking proper english? minus the accent.

  • Yeah, I thought that too but then I tried listening to them without reading the subtitles and realised I was having a hard time understanding parts of what they were saying. So the subtitles were needed, sorry. ._.

  • 'This is a new "Wood" for me. I heard about Bollywood,Lollywood,Tollywood and now Nollywood. And is there any another industry end ending with "wood" ?

  • Interesting

I should look into these movies

I don't care about bad acting, or bad directing. I care about good stories

  • That guy with the glasses looked like Gary Coleman.

  • Well done Nollywood. The Nigerian spirit of both men and women is second to non in this world. For those morons who dont like it tough. The bank balances of these milf makers and actors show you are in a minority. Hollywood and Bollywood have been around for a combined 200 years or less. Nollywood is only about 15 years or so old. Westerners who get sacmmed are fools and deserve it for getting for their greed. Proud to be Nigerian. LONG LIVE NIGERIA!!!!!!!!!

  • So, they do something else then sending scam emails and aks for our bank account numbers? Hahahaha....

  • apparently you probably did not know that outside the US there are people in other countries that work hard other than scamming. Yes, the stereotype of nigerians is scamming and 419 but that doesn't mean that everybody does it, there are still people that struggle and make it in a positive light. Im tired of hearing about the West complaining about scams when there are scams here in the US, damn just ignore the damn emails delete and move on with your life.....

  • i mean i see your argument but the thing is is that the nigerian film industries has been around since the 60s, i will tell the truth i love the movies from the late 80s and 90s though because you can just feel the passion of acting through the film, but i dn't think its fair to say that the whole Nollywood is a scam loll, oh yea just to say my prior comment was to

    "fredxtini1"

  • @tomthumbtoo The audience these movies are made for love it! I guess a movie that brings hope and put smiles on peoples faces is "shitty" to you because it is low budget ! Nollywood is meant for africans! If you dont like it! Go bck to watching all those big budget soft porn hollywood movies that encourage immorality and offer nothing to the human race in general!

  • GO Nigerians GO

  • Wow, your mommy issues and insecurities just bust through your message.

  • @GuateVEGAN

Huh? Your response tells me that you're a fucking leftwing loser who couldn't come up with any valid counter point....

  • Thats awesome .

Nigeria is a magical place .

It has the highest rate of twin births in thw world . Many ancient artificats reflect this as well .

  • Not sure: do these people know about Fellini and DeSica in Italy who faced the same things in the late forties and never would have been found dead stepping outa a limosine? It all looks sort of stupid, from USA. I mean, does Nigeria really no know about the history of film?

Chaplin had a million dollars in 1918 but he still saw thru the whole fame machine. I doubt that you all do.

  • Nigerians are creating their own history of film...following the western tradition is not the be all and end all. People in the US can laugh, but what do Africans care, they just want to do their thing. As a westerner I understand where you are coming from; however, as an African, I'll appreciate it for what it is. And alot of Nigerian films are entertaining.

  • I doubt the average Nigerian will be remotely interested De sica or er.. Fellini's body of work , in my opinion italian cinema caters only to italians. Even I don't know them and frankly the italian cinema has just as much marketable value as the Nigerian cinema. You can whorship them if you want lol!

  • cannoir: well, shit, u already got 4 negatives. Nigerians aint all living in ur African-Centered-Universe. Get Out In The World & Enjoy. I tell you, buddy: these vids shown here are crap. "The Bicycle Thief" is a Masterpiece. And don't matter WHERE YOU LIVE: Quality in acting & directing & camera work CAN NOT BE FAKED. You want to put MONEY on your claim Nigerian Cinema is "as much marketable value" as Italian Cinema? $1,000? Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is. Ignorant Fool.

  • @tomthumbtoo I can reload this page and rate down your comment does this means the shit has instrictive some value ? my universe isn't african centered , this planet is bigger. you will read my comments on Tamil and punjabi movies because I happen to appreciate different cultures.I also happen to love middle eastern type of movies.you little world is Italian. You can whorship italian movies but you and i we both know they are no more marketable than indian movies.

  • they look like rapstars, african-americans should be proud of their long-distance cousins, lol.

  • I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday.I kept it to myself because I know how people like to refute that lol! it is pretty obvious.that a lot of people we saw look like any black person over here.

they may produce cheaper filsm but at least they put a hot meal on the table and they pay their children's school fee. who can blame them.

  • you see: money is not ev`rything

  • 2:00 EVERYONE take note of his attitude - that is how you get what you want in life not by whining

  • Wow, that's cool I can't wait to see some of their films : )

  • It is great that they have this industry, but honestly the movies look terrible.

I wonder if people in Nigeria enjoy movies made in North America?

Or of they prefer films from their own country ?

  • @6663000

Your channel profile says "Canada", thats explains you saying "North America".

America USA, not North america or Canada

  • What?

  • would you prefer to wear your nappy or mine? does that sound a good enough answer to your question?

  • I don't know what that means.

  • He's saying that...

Well honestly, a lot of times Canadians try to seperate themselves from the US. But the moment we're talking about Hollywood? NOW suddenly Canada and the US are clumped into a group. They're "North American" movies, not "American" or "Hollywood" movies, according to you. He's saying you're stealing credit from another country, and even worse would be if you normally try to seperate Canada from the US when there's no "profit" in clumping them together.

  • why are so many racists subscribed to this channel? If you don't like black peoples or nollywood then don't comment.

  • 2nd largest ?? :o

What about Bollywood? its 3rd or what?

    Reply please

  • I read that Bollywood is now number 1.

  • @kimskams80

    bollywood is first

  • I totally agree with the fact that the quality needs to be improved. I think it's only a matter of 3-6 years before you see a massive explosion in the quality levels. However, the fact that people have managed to create an industry worth millions of dollars in a ruthless environment has to be acknowledged.

  • guerrilla, dumb ass...

  • Well, at least its better than South East Asia movies. Their movies is all about "Shemales"

  • Priceless !!!! loooool!

  • HAHAHA!

  • My...oh ! my they love them street disputes lol! there is like 3 of 4 in every single Nollywood movie lol!

it is picking up slowly.but they defo need to work on quality.you can't run left and right to film a couple of frames when you should be pulling a dolly.the shot will not be stable.

  • i like nigerian films,,,i love love nigireans as while too!!!!!!!! most amasing people on the planet!!!!! go nigeria ,u r the real/proud africans!!! love u!!! forget the stereo u r given in the outside world by those who want africans to bowdown for them cos they think africa is poor!!!! sod them all!!
