i have a question....if i buy this body filler and use some for my case, what's gonna happen to the rest that is left in the tin??? will it become like a stone???
Hello guys,i've been enjoyign watchign all your videos in youtube and you guys are amazing, one question though as i'm planning to paint an old cpu case, can i use those spray paints that being sold in automotive stores?those are for cars but can i use it for a cpu case?thanks a lot...
@TheBMXStreetlife, 400 wet-sandpaper, if you only want to prepare the surface of the old paint. if you want to sand it down to the metal, 120 - 180 will get the job done.
@ploetzlich30 Okay thanks, I went out today and bought everything I got 150 and it did a great job, and its plastic not metal.. but I got it thanks for the help!
Personally I'd have covered up the 2 smaller drive covers and painted over them, but I love the turbine in the middle and how it looks so naturally smoothed out :)
Wow, the paint quality is awesome! How muchlayers of primer should I use, and what kind of paint should i use? Paint for 'cars', or doesn't it matter? DId you wait 2 weeks to let the paint get hard, or what??
*alot* I have tons of old cases I can make into 200$ cases now lol I think the hardest part of the video is buying the stuff you need lol... Well anyways thx again I'm gonna add multiple fans
This video is awesome!!! It's funny how when you look at certains things you think must be complicates only to find out my little som could do it... I appreciate this video sapir
Hey I just painted my case with a high gloss black paint but i'm kind of scared now to put the side panel screws on because I don't want to damage the paint. What can I use so I don't damage it?
God dam it all I hate watching these videos. It makes me so sad/mad to know that I will never have a work room, or the money, to do case mods in. It's a hobby that I have had for years even though I have never been able to do it.
The best that I can hope for is living vicariously through youtube videos. =..(
nice case mod..... i like how you picked the old computer because it suits having the turbine in it and i like the lod computers and i like the finished result of it great job 100/100
Put an awsome side panel in it and then post up a video of it ... just to add a little more fancy to it. Over all i think you made a great effort and the case looks awsome .
i rate this video 10/10 and the previous one linked to this one. :) :) :D
@LemonAndYoghurt well for a 4 1/2 hole saw your throwing down 35 + 10 for paint +10 for the filler + 15 for the fans + 5 for the fan related stuff so thats 75 + what ever labor is = $
nice case mod. I'm planing to mod an old gateway case I have, and this helped me alot. I have a question, can you use the plastikote primer for the metal side panels too if u like, instead of the self etching primer? Because I purchased the plastikote primer, but im not sure if you can use it for metal, thanks
Oh, wow... That case is sick... Good work! At first I wasn't really sure about the chevy orange color, but at the end with the silver plating and fan it really looks sweet. Nice work!
It's not the best idea to touch bare metal that you're planning to paint with your hands even with self etching primer. The oils from your fingers will keep the primer from really sticking and overall will cause the paint to chip and flake off, also, if you're using any non-aluminum metals that haven't been rust treated it will cause rust pockets underneath the paint over time.
Wouldn't it have been easier to use a bigger batch of filler with a small amount of hardener....maybe do it in a cool place, so you can spend less time mixing it? I used to do some work for a fiberglass company and I used to mix up batches that were sometimes a half-gallon of filler, and I still had about 12-15 minutes to work on it, more in the winter when it was cold.
This was a great tutorial. I like how the paint makes the case look metal in the front so it matches the side panels. Should of had a clear side panel of some sort tho.
