  • saw tony at blues 3 weeks ago, he sung better then on cddddd

  • I first came across Tony Joe's genius in about 1970 when I learned about him from reading an essay by a writer named Harlan Ellison in the Los Angeles Free Press. His first album, "Black and White," just knocked me out. Yes, Little Green Apples was on the flip side of that, along with a number of other covers which he gave totally new sounds. And Side One -- oh, that was all Tony Joe. What a writer and singer; what a guitar and harmonica player! True blue-eyed soul.
