i just dont fuckin understand how the ppl involved in the government can sit back and allowed alcohol (about 85,000 deaths in U.S.) and tobacco (about 1/2 million deaths in U.S.) to be sold leagally when Mary Jane, in it's 5,000 years of recorded data has not killed or has one death caused by the use of marijuana on record.. kinda seems like the government doesn't give a f*ck bout us citizens....as long as their makin money.. thinkboutthat:)
actually tests and research have been done on monkeys given like 4 joints a day for a year straight and showed no long term effects on the brain and very little to no damage on the lungs only a slight increase in the risk of cancer but fuck if cigarettes and alcohol are legal then why not marijuana
ponic420h: That's actually too restrictive, especially the public smoking thing. I think there should be designated bars or cafes that allow it and are licensed to distribute it, so that people have some place to smoke and socialize. Also, the smoking age should be 18 at the very most, and special licenses should only be for selling it. Buying it should only require a drivers' license or state ID, like alcohol.
yes yerk. if you can go kill yourself in a war than you should be able to smoke weed at 18. also we should just run it like we do in cali. have distributors like liqour stores. i cant wait for the day when i get pulled over before going to a concert and the officer says "oh youve got a little marijuana, a little alcohol, well theres nothing wrong there" LEGALIZE IT
Agreed. I heard marijuana is a start up drug for dealers. Getting it in the US, developing a customer base, handling the money, etc. Once they are used to it they move to cocaine and heroine. Lets get rid of it by making it legal. It would keep jails from filling up and free resources to go after true crimes.
After all, empty a bottle of whiskey and you will be half dead and a danger to yourself and others. Smoke a pound of pot and they will get you from the floor in a bucket.
Also ponic420h, the problem with everything you typed is, most of the things youre asking the be takin away from the people who do use it, are major items of every day life. lets just say i'v broke every one of you're "_insert here_" restrictions so far.
and the annual fee and for anything i can grow better then probably buy is Bs. sorry.
Thank you for advocating my rights and the rights of suppressed people without the means (millions of dollars) to educate the public and gain respect.
to the government: legalize it. you grow it. sell it at street price in the post office to consenting adults. the adults lose the need for a dealer and buy at the post office. selling and growing remains illegal. adults are getting thier weed at the post office so if you bust someone selling they must be selling to minors, so you can charge them with it and put them away for a long time. takes it away from kids, and government makes a killing.
cost friendly for crap maybe. I dont know what your smoking but it must be garbage if you think the marijuana market is friendly. You dont know what the fuck your talking about? 60 70 dollars and 1/8? Thats not friendly. Not to mention if it were legalized we could get it from columbia the best bud in the world at a very cheap price. It would be genetically superior and better than anyother weed. Maybe a little tax on it. It would be far worth it compare to smoking ditch weed.
colombia? the best bud?...are you talking about the geographical location in which marijuana is indigenous to...or the production (hybrids ect) exa...kush from the afghan region in the mountains
Maybe im just such a nice guy that people hooked me up; i dunno. But i'm a light smoker i could get maybe 2grams for $5 and smoke a few hits a day and get high for a week. Whereas eating a light snack each day for lunch costs you about $21.
It's kind of silly to go gung-ho trying to decriminalize it, at the very least start with decriminalization of farming of hemp. Then introduce bills aimed at changing any risk of jail time to money fines or something along those lines. And keep in mind that the current Marijuana market is currently pretty cost-friendly.. you just dont beat those prices.
Man, the politics of marijuana are way fucked up. This anti-drug fetish that those in power have over the rest of us is a tyranny against freedom of speech, and the freedom to put into my body what other peoples have used, since time immemorial.
yeah i agree, but if they passed a law that allowed people to open legal mom and pop shops to sell what they grow and distrubute and import from other countries, stores like that would put a big dent into big tobacco's power on it. But the sad realities i bet the funds of trying to do that would be too great to try enless it became a mass thing people did like in amsterdam with the coffee shops.
if the big tobacco companies get to grow it, they will pump it full of chemicals and totally fuck it up. they will find a way to make it addictive (marijuana has no addictive properties) do you want the selling of weed by these companies to target kids like they do with tobacco? remember joe camel? how would sweet sweet chiba taste with arsinic or some of the other poisons that are added to tobacco? I don't want to know
That's the Catch 22. If we do legalize it, we run the risk of having a conglomerate that is just in it for the money. They will add chemicals that can speed up the vegetative cycle as well as the flowering cycle in favor of being able to harvest more frequently and in turn be able to make huge profits on non organic weed that may or may not be detrimental to our health. Like the tobacco industry.
I see your point....however, if we really wanted to grow our own tobacco free of chemicals, we are free to do so. We can buy alternative tobacco products with no additives,as well, thanks to capitalism and competition. Just as we can grow our own chron without the 'additives'. The corporations will not succeed in the exploitation of pure green, frosty nuggets.
The only reason why it is not decriminalized yet is people profit from it being that way. Think about all the federal agencies, district attorneys, lawyers, probation officers, cops, anti-drug organizations that all get a cut of the billions of dollars thrown away each year? Cannabis is harmless do not believe the lies! Vote to save your tax dollars! Prohibition is unconstitutional!
I trust you have plenty of munchies for your weed smoking friends. If you ever get caught hosting a get together without the request edibles, you might be cannibalized. HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHA
Cindy Mccain being of booze cash... And alcohol reps in general are very against decrim/legalizing because it would cut into their profits so massively. Many people (me included and many friends and acquaintances) slow drinking or stop completely as they smoke more.. And I gotta tell you, only one bad consequence (jail and fines) is soo much better than not being able to drive (shouldn't high but it's easy) without conseq. and no hangovers, and no early nights or fights! Marijuana solves!!
Probably as soon as they figure a way to do so. I agree with you. But there is a BIG catch they cant do anything about. WE COULD JUST GROW OUR OWN. If they legalize it, you should be allowed to grow your own. If not its just an oxymoron and a double standard (you know what I mean). Lets not let them fuck us over somehow. TOTAL LEGALIZATION is the only way.
legalization would be better by far, but decriminalization will end many problems and if it has to be a stepping stone let it be just like medical marijuana. Don't refuse other options. It would lead inevitably to legalization. Plus, when there is decent competition, most people would buy it packaged like tobacco for lack of time and wanting to put effort into growing. Plus, cops would probably ignore pot growers anyway cuz it wouldn't be as big of a deal
I agree with you. I believe in my heart that marijuana will be 100% legal in our lifetimes, but 1st step would be to decriminalize possesion of small amounts of it and permit without intrusion legal medicinal marijuana. You got that right. However, knowing how many more poisonous agents they add to ciggarettes alone. I would not trust companies to sell marijuana over the counter without it being laced with something addictive. I would grow my own cause I dont trust the government or corporations
Can't Truss It!!! All we need to do is do what we are doing now. Band together with ideas and conversation. Smoke something killer. Think about the changes in drug screening and those presently incarcerated. Hell, even our military would be bigger if the trace of weed from a week ago isn't an issue for enlistment.
1,000,000's of Americans support this legislation and a couple legislaters either don't care or disagree with it. Let's hope we see the right thing done here.
i agree with you anthony, but is it worth pushing for some sort of law thats already ready to go, and then edit it as time goes by? I'm just wondering I don't know if thats even possible.
If you "decriminalize" up to 100g of marijuana, then you've got to "decriminalize" a way to provide it. We continue to leave in place an avenue for authorities to harm peaceful citizens.
This will not stop people from being unfairly targeted.
That's precisely why this legislation has a good chance of being passed. It doesn't necessarily legalize it everywhere but it will prevent federal busts of dispenseries in certain states and it will basicly make it legal in California along with all the other states that you can get a medical marijuana license in. The legislatures realized they couldn't just legalize it all at once or the bill wouldn't be passed at all.
It is illegal because the tabacco companies and alcohol campanies pay the politicians under the table so that they don't have to compete with weed sales. They know they would lose money if they had to compete with pot so they make sure the politician does what he has to so that it stays illegal. This problem like so many others is because of corruption in our system
HELL YES!! decriminalize marijuana- our government is waisting time in courts and space in our jailhouses on people who smoke pot instead of filling them with the child molesters/rapists/murders/etc that DESERVE to rot and die in there. As long as people use responsibly, I just don't see a real problem with it.
Please contact your local and national news media stations and ask them to talk about this story and if possible to talk with Barney Frank about it, too!
The problem this bill would present is legalizing the plant's use, while still criminalizing the sale and cultivation.
If the laws regarding the sale and cultivation are not also changed to reflect a more sensible policy, then we will continue to allow the criminal underground network to profit off of a plant that should be sold as safe and easily as alcohol.
nice! I would prefer legalization myself, but this is a good start in the right direction, for once. Get the gov't OFF our backs! There is a difference between approval and legalization. You don't have to approve of something in order to let other people do it in their own privacy. Cigarettes are legal, but we don't recommend young before the age of 18 smoke, right? A lot of people are against smoking at ANY age, in fact. Same w/ alcohol.
Thats a good thing. Cannabis is a miracle substance, and knowing how to use it. its very beneficial and rewarding. But still for me 100% satisfaction would be worldwide legalization. Only Cannabis. peace out.
Please act by visiting MPP's site as mentioned in this video, and "ask your U.S. House member to co-sponsor this legislation"! If everyone works together we will make progress together. Simply entertaining yourself by watching this video and moving on to another video while not acting doesn't help! Please, take a few brief moments to participate, let your voice be heard!
Thank you MPP for posting Rep. Frank on H.R. 5842. Needless to say 5842 does not come up on the MSNBC search for the bill.
The only known resulting deaths from hemp are death by government like what happened to Peter McWilliams. We have been legislated to death and our only hope is courageous folks like Barney Frank in congress to change the laws that are killing us. Toxic energy, medicine and buildings should be replaced with non-toxic hemp.
Hey Barney you should have been arrested when you were sitting on your b/f porch when he go raided in Maine for growing the stuff

Let's make 410 each day the time to call your congressman and senators and flood the switch boards with calls to legalize pot.
Please pass this on and help support this cause the 410 / 420 call before you light up cause

How about legalize it. Make it like alcohol with a few more restrictions
-21 to smoke
-No smoking and driving
-No driving while stoned
-No pipes in car or burnt marijuana
-No smoking in public
-Marijuana in trunk only, as well as paraphenalia
-Government charges an annual fee of $50 to maintain a weed license you take a small test for
Cheap as hell for us once farmers start mass growing that shit.
And the government? They could make a lot of money off of this.

HELL YES!! decriminalize marijuana- our government is waisting time in courts and space in our jailhouses on people who smoke pot instead of filling them with the child molesters/rapists/murders/etc that DESERVE to rot and die in there. As long as people use responsibly, I just don't see a real problem with it.

Please contact your local and national news media stations and ask them to talk about this story and if possible to talk with Barney Frank about it, too!

Cannabis is quite safe to use and is medically useful, but don't forget MDMA and mushrooms!!!

That's right government, it is not your job to "parent" the American people. Your job is to protect our rights. It's the Constitution, stupid.
Thank You MPP and Barney Franks

Thank you MPP for posting Rep. Frank on H.R. 5842. Needless to say 5842 does not come up on the MSNBC search for the bill.
The only known resulting deaths from hemp are death by government like what happened to Peter McWilliams. We have been legislated to death and our only hope is courageous folks like Barney Frank in congress to change the laws that are killing us. Toxic energy, medicine and buildings should be replaced with non-toxic hemp.
The evolution is being televised. Thanks MPP.
