  • Les Hurdle is my cousin...he is amazing!!!!

  • Excelent! "Champ! (organ line)" ..Also a interview of HUGO MONTENEGRO and HARRELL LUCKY will be good

  • this is so good, really glad whosampled is doing this.

  • Les Hurdle was bassist for Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer in their Munich period.

He even played on the "I remember yesterday" album which contains "I feel love"

  • great!thanks!

  • Great site guys. I found this site a while back ago, Amazing!!! I'm into sampling and this is very helpful.

  • Thanks guys amazing interview!

Definitely try and get Bob James and David Axelrod in :)

  • @whosampled Y'all should definitely interview Bob James, or Doug E. Fresh, Run-DMC or Kurtis Blow, maybe even Fab 5 Freddy

  • 12:16 what does he say?

  • This is absolutely amazing. I have to thank you , for doing this interview for not only a song that has influenced hip hop , but has also brought people together. I love music in general , and hip hop is such a thrill for me.

This site has helped me out , distinguish samples and check out songs that have not been sampled yet.

  • absolutley brilliant. i was really mindblown when i found out hawkshaw is from leeds recently, been a yorkshire lad myself. this guy should be awarded for his contributions to music- including making the grange hill theme tune!

  • They were great-they should do a reunion album or tour, etc. & Alan Hawkshaw is hilarious

  • Really interesting interview, Mark! Will defo be sharing this. x

  • Yep, we're planning to do more interviews with musicians and producers, spanning the entire spectrum of sampled music... watch this space :)

  • @whosampled Next time do a bit of a medley of the different songs (that have the original artist's samples in them) that the artists can hear. Some might be familiar to them but it would be fun to see their reactions to some of the one's that they DON'T know. Especially if the offpring songs were/are current "classics." That way the artist can hear the many different ways their piece has been used/looped/sped up/slowed down/stretched out etc.

  • It'd be fun to see their faces when that recognition hits them, similar to the feeling we get when we're familiar with an (old) song and hear the sample in a new song. Or in reverse, when we're familiar with the current song sample but had no idea about the original and hear the original for the first time. Your website has enlightened me and enriched me many times from that perspective.

  • @whosampled Let's get David Axelrod in :)

  • That was fantastic! True legends having their say. You've just made a library music fan and video mashup producer very happy! Have you got plans to do more of these?

  • great thanks for the upload!! Big ups Mark Rae, respect!

  • sick interview
