  • could a very large 12" male T blondie eat a full sized 8" female? or are the females much stronger.?? females have huge fangs so males probably outa luck

female lives a lot longer so its good they never get eaten

  • @ultum4tegunz

    no.

  • I believe he means that it is a common belief that a big MM usually has more success in breeding then a smaller MM.

  • jon u must give little females big males i think or somethingi

  • @AussenseiterAktuell

You cannot do this this. Females that are smaller than the males aren't sexually mature to mate/breed. Females eating the males does occur no matter how matter how well fed the female is. Like I said, it really depends on the mood for her receptiveness. In the previous attempt, she was very receptive, this time not at all. I will consider this as I am mating P.regalis

  • jon , powerfeeding female before mate !!!!

  • @AussenseiterAktuell

I did I gave her 4-5 superworms the day before. She was just not in the mood

  • @Jon3800 what is mood , im not from england or america or spain

  • @Jon3800 wait u must give her 10000 superworms or 1 horse

  • Aww. Man that sucks...

  • aaa geez sorry about alfred.

  • @XXXMagic86

    thanks man. This happens :(

  • So did Alfred manage to make an insertion.

  • @vaatithewindmage

nope. Medusa molted out 3 months later and lost her fertility

  • do males or female spiderlings grow faster? also jon check out my car wash video i made for you. poor alfred.

  • @maybe2243

    males seemingly grow the fastest

  • How many DAMN SPIDERS DO U HAVE IN YOUR ROOM!!!!???? O.O

  • @archangelz3

    111.

  • alfred look very tiny!

  • Hey Jon,

    2 things

-Next time test the females temperment by prodding her out a bit and letting her know the male is in the enclosure. This is the approach I used for my Ornata breeding.

-Did you notice any stretching in the females folio or white viscous liquid around the lip? That would be indication that he inserted.

    Sucks when males die..

  • thanks man I'll do that..I learn something new everyday.

No I didn't notice anything. I would probably think Its too late.

I got the T.gigas- it was a larger sac than I thought it be, some I'll send some your way when its starts to warm up

  • Do you mind me asking how you got yours!? At a pet shop? Expo?

  • the female belongs to my friend...he got it at the petstore

  • Do you know of any good online dealers for an adult female Ghost Ornamental?

  • not that I have know of

  • man Jon that sucks that your male got eaten well I hope you have more success mating your chaco golden knees. but hopefully before she ate him they mated and you still get a sac out of it.

  • Sorry about poor Alfred :(

At least he died doing what he'd do in the wild. Hopefully he managed to mate with her first.

    Chris :)

  • that's what im hoping...I'll take the positive approach, hopefully by 4 months, we'll see her abdomen explode

  • hope so john just hope me managed to mate . poor alfred. I lost a baby N cromatis too =( last week

  • i know it sucks, it died or it escaped?

  • sorry man

  • thanks

  • I would think that he got an insertion - I've kept my pokies together for weeks with no issues until they mated sucessfully and she at the male. I believe it's a protective instinct to kill the male after mating. I would suggest possibly using a larger enclosure next time - I don't mate in anything smaller than a 5 gallon, though a 10 gallon is better IMO. Just gives the male more room to mate and possibly run away from the female. Hopefully this one was good and Alfred's genes will live on!

  • thanks Rob

  • Sorry bud. always sucks to lose a t

  • sucks male got eaten,. I hope you get a egg sack. its dangerous to leave the male in there without supervision though =/ you cant molt them during day-light hours? I wish I would breed my MM Ts they are always wwandering around in my cages,. both of em. .

  • Ts aren't active during the day time, and in nature they usually try to mate them in the late evening

  • can you do a vid on your rose hair sling ?

    please jon

  • I'll shoot one up tomorrow

  • Yeah id kinda be sad if I breed Ts and male got eatin. sorry.

  • well thank you jon

  • Jon you do know if the male was eaten he may have gotten an insert....

  • maybe its worth a shot

  • Heya Jon...I too have come to bid poor Alfred prayer that he may rest in peace, and I am sorry for him passing.

But his death was not in vain...because of him, hopefully... that beautiful female of yours will be able to carry on his legacy, and so shall Alfred's spiderlings grow up to do the same...

  • thanks

  • better look john, hope the nxt one goes wel

  • My condolensces for your little buddy. it must suck that he had to go down like this. RIP alfred.

  • thanks man,

I'll assume to the good and say that they must have mated.

  • sorry for youre loss, RIP alfred.

  • RIP Alfred

  • Why is it that you don't introduce the female into the male tank?...

    Great video, by the way!

  • In the wild, the males in nature, always go to the female, this is why if you see on documentaries, you'll see males crossing streets to look for females.

Females get quite stressed if she's moved in any way, and may turn her aggression towards him and possibly eat them, which unfortunately happened here.

So its the best idea to make sure both are well fed, she has recently molted, and hope she's responsive before attempting mating. It's exciting yet can be scary

  • good video

  • Cheer up Jon, if you see it my way then your lucky you didnt set your P. Metallica out for breeding and get eaten. Now thats what you call a expensive meal xD

  • ya thats true

  • ya you're right

  • your bathtub has more jets then the us air force!

  • lol ya

  • That sucks :/

Good luck with your future breeding projects though.

  • That is so sad to see him all wrapped up in that bundle. Poor little guy..

  • I know, my heart dropped when I saw that. Just goes to show you that "communal" species can turn on each other

  • Well thats just terrible, hopefully he did what he had to do, and Medussa has a sack!

  • ya, im hoping ;)

  • Sorry to hear about Alfred's death. I hope you do get an eggsac.

  • So sorry that he got munched. Lets just hope she is gravid......

  • ya, hoping
