I remember back in the first season, many of the fans surmised that Ethan, and by extension the Others had superhuman strength because of that scene and the one where he effortlessly strangled and lifted Charlie off the ground... we imagined them as powerful, all-knowing wizards...
when in fact they were losers who knew next to nothing about the Island... haha^^
If Ethan and Jack were at their peak, Ethan would have still monstered Jack. For the love of fuck, he was injured and seemed out of it when he went back for Claire. Not only that, he killed Scott, by breaking nearly every bone in his body and Scott was both armed and had about the same physique as Jack.
Let's also not forget Ethan held up Charlie with ONE hand and I doubt Jack could do the same. Also, Ethan has lived his whole life on the Island.
But, faraday sed they could never meet as they wud have never met until the crash. e.g. sawyer cudnt meet desmond wen he was banging on the hatch, yet faraday cud???
@james182182 Yes but You see later that season that the Desmond suddenly remembers seeing faraday that day while he was sleeping, so it did happen so Faraday could, or more specific, HAD to meet him then ;)
