  • WHAT IS FOREIGN ACCENT SYNDROME? YES! In your FACES! Or should I say "In yaw faysays"? Ello guvnahhhh! Throw another shrimp on the bahbee faw meeee hahahaha JD is a LEGEND....

  • the standard americans knowledge of british accents is laughable

  • Well, Geography is JD's achilles heel. :)

  • "throw another shrimp on the baarbie foor me"

    pissed myself right there

  • Funnily enough we Aussies mostly barbecue lamb chops or sausages. Don't hear of too many shrimps being bbq'd

  • haha JD has the funniest facial expression ever

  • WARNING : DO NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO WHILE DRINKING YOU WILL CHOKE AND YOU WILL SPILL IT ALL OVER YOUR T-SHIRT

  • it's a joke within a joke

    INCEPTION!!

  • @booikluiving

    We need to scrub deeper!

  • They're playing 'let's be the new JD and Elliot' is what they're playing.

  • the funny bit is we aussies don't even call them shrimp we call them prawns

  • @madafoul Umm... Slightly awkward because shrimps and prawns are different creatures... They are just in a similar family.

  • Australian not Irish JD

  • Dude. He says, "Slaggy, you're up." Thumps up if you know why.

  • @Scalawag720 Oh Slagathor... It never ceases to amaze me all the little jokes hidden in the show.

  • @Scalawag720 To Kelso, all the men are Daves and all the women are Debbies. This particular intern is actually named Debbie, so out of fairness, she is called Slagathor. the name must have stuck...

(you can stick my free +1 internet in a box and hide it under the Mackinaw bridge. I'll find it later...)

  • I literally LOVE the way he says 'in your faces' in that chinese accent, and the face he pulls as well! classic

  • How much do you love it that Kelso's nickname Slagathor stuck so much that at least one of her friends is now referring to her as "Slaggy"? XD

  • The line, "Throw another shrimp on the barbie" is Australian, but the accent most definately is not

  • @MissMaddiJean and i've never heard an aussie say shrimp... we usually use prawns

  • @Manekdk Yes an unfortunate mistake in this very well known phrase. :S

  • The funniest line in this...

Dr. Cox: What annoying thing is happening now?

  • I'm an Aussie and have never heard anyone say that. Still, it was epically funny XD

  • Holy crap! I just noticed that the guy calls the girl "slaggy" when it's her turn... I guess everyone's calling her Slagathor now..

  • I think the last two words were' For Me', and he thinks that was Irish.

  • yep he's an idiot LOL!

  • Pfft.. what kind of bacon sandwich doesn't Have wings?

  • The Game

  • bacon it is

  • ...i smell bacon.

  • @TheNewNewfie with or without wings?

  • @lilyallen194 WITH! knuckletouch

  • @nikster369 with or without wings??????

  • I love how in teh beginning he calls her slaggy. ^_^ Go Kelso.

  • Dr.Acula rocks!

  • "Wait, that's Irish."

    "You're an idiot."

The funny thing is, my Earth Science teacher talks in Australian accents...to himself.

  • Hahaha, I'm australian, Irish and English blood and I find this fucking hilarious. Mainly his facials :)

  • love you j.d :)

  • thats not cockney man XD thats just posh sorta english old style, no one in england talks like that anymore

  • Hahahaha

  • ye, im from england and nobody ever has said anything in that accent

  • "Allo guv'nor" = stereotypical Cockney.

"Throw another shrimp on the barbie" = stereotypical Australian

The punchline is that J.D thinks it's Irish.

  • Except the Aussies use the word prawn instead of shrimp.

  • @HikoSeijuroXIII Then again, cockneys don't go around calling people guv'nor either. :P

  • I know a couple.

  • @HikoSeijuroXIII Then they're a pretty rare case that aren't representitive of the show.

The word guv'nor is still loosely primarly used in England, to portray a Detective Chief Inspector (or generally any rank higher) within the police force, in regards to criminal investigation units. Even they don't all do it. Outside of that, it's not all THAT common.

  • See above.

  • @HikoSeijuroXIII What do you mean 'see above', what exactly?

I'm illustrating that the use of the word 'guv'nor' and 'shrimp' in this context are incredibly stereotypical, in that it's not a common norm as usually suggested. That's what adds to the humour of this scene, that's the whole point. The fact that these stereotypical cases are so rare adds to the comical build up to the punchline. The humour is, J.D has no clue, because he's an idiot. He'll say the inaccurate thing.

  • You will sooner find a cockney using that very idiosyncratic phrase than an Aussie using the word 'shrimp' in an everyday conversation was my point actually.

  • @Jiemusu89 thank you captain obviose ;)

  • @malvard20 Heh. Well someone has to I guess, not enough people got it.

  • @malvard20 Learn to spell "obvious".

  • @ChanniAntoinette where did i coment?

  • @Jiemusu89 You know disecting something also kills it, right? Why did you explain what I just saw?

  • Comment removed

  • @chrisreid800 Because you'd be amazed at how many people simply didn't get the punchline, at all, and NEEDED it explained to them. Those that don't, can take pride in themselves that they worked it out on their own, but apparently not everyone has that sense of humour. Hence comments like "what, I don't get it, that's not Irish!!

  • @Jiemusu89 well, if you consider that JD doesn't know anything about other countries, he might think it's the same country :)

  • @Gorattin Exactly, this is just as funny as when he said New Zealand was not so far from Old Zealand. LOL, that even had a similar response as Dr. Cox in this vid when that guy said "are you an idiot?"

  • @Jiemusu89 I dont think anyone needed that pointed out...

  • Comment removed

  • @AwhNoNotTheBees You're wrong actually, it turns out quite a lot of people did need it explaining. The punchline was obvious as hell to anyone with half a sense, but it goes over the head of far more people than you think. I was as surprised as you.

  • @Jiemusu89 Then I have no faith in people anymore.

  • ELLO GOVNAHH

  • I love his face when he's doing an 'Irish' accent.

  • omg LOL at the 'for meee'

  • wasn't that an Aussie accent?!?!?

  • yes... hence Dr. Cox telling him that he's an idiot :)

  • oh, okay!!

  • yes it was an aussie accent at the end but thats kinda the joke when he says "wait thats irish" lol

  • oh, cool!!

  • Whenever I hear "throw another shrimp on the barbie", I think of a Barbie that had an outfit made out of shrimp...is that just me? Am I just...nevermind. My brain is bizarre.

  • americans and there awfull impressions

  • The word you're looking for is "their" not "there". You're an idiot.

  • best Irish accent EVAR.

  • its a joke....

  • Oh, yeah. All Australians DEFINITELY throw shrimps on the barbie whenever they are given the opportunity. That is SO what happens here.

I love Scrubs, but come on. Really?

  • I'm Australian yet never thrown a shrimp on the barbie. :'(

  • +1 internets

  • I'm an Aussie and I regularly throw shrimps on the barbie. It's one of my favourite activities.

I also ride a kangaroo to work.

  • @doctorgriffith that cracked me up!

  • @doctorgriffith Oh Really? Well I'm a swedish nudist and my name is Bjorn. I always wear a funny hat with horns and ride a tall, blonde, swedish supermodel to work.

  • please learn to take a joke

  • As an Aussie Living in South London I'm in a pretty good position to agree with Adam Hills "The Australian accent is of cockney criminals slowed down by the heat"

  • love his face when he turns to dr cox and goes "ello guvnor!"

  • That's not even cockney rhyming slang you muppets.

  • You guys don't get it..the joke is that he doesn't know how the accents sound, lol.

  • lol how do aussie accents sound cockney? (to some of the comments below)

    lol i love Dr Cox

  • It starts cockney then morphs into an really shit ozzy

  • Haha, I'm actually Australian and he sounds nothing like an Aussie! Plus, that 'shrimp on the barbie' phrase is bogus, AUSTRALIANS DON'T SAY SHRIMP! We call them prawns, that Paul Hogan ad was a sellout.

  • believe me it sounded more like irish, i know i have to listen to it every day XD

  • it sounds nothing like an irish accent you idiot.. and its not meant to

  • i guess your right it doesn't sound like hes choking

  • Amen, bro

  • agreed (fellow australian btw)

  • @surfrosey ... well, if they're small, we call them shrimp, at least we do where I'm from in Australia. If they're bigger, they're prawns.

  • 0:36 - WTF? XD

  • first time i was watching this i almost pass put from laughing,,, :DD J.D. and dr cox are THE BEST

  • That was the worst cockney accent since Dick Van Dyke

  • Lol - is he doing cockney or Australian because it doesn't sound like either.

  • He's doing cockney and then he says an Australian phrase in the cockney accent. :)

  • lol the irony is that dr.cok is from donegal =D

  • lol

    " ur an idiot "

  • Cox; What annoying thing is happening now? XD

  • but where does throw another shrimp on the barbi come from? is it just from dumb n dumber??

  • lol no It's just a sterotypical Aussie saying.

  • actually we dont say shrimp in australia we call them prawns...

  • Nah, it's from a 20 year old advertisement. A man called Paul Hogan spokesperson for a holiday company and was trying to get Americans to come spend their holidays "in the land down under, full of wonder". Just youtube "Paul Hogan commercial" and it's like the second one from the top. It's because of that man that Australians are forever plagued with that single line... Ahh well, everyone's got a stereotype and most people follow at least one, lol.

  • aussies sound like cockneys, gday mate - alwight mate. bet the french canadians sound like yanks to the french??

  • Its coz they are mainly descended from cockneys

  • the last bit is saying off an old australien (Spelling), most australiens have a bit of a cockney accent. But yanks think there funny when hey attempt it but hey whatever makes you giggle.

  • None of the accents he uses are irish or australian.

He's doing an American attempt at a British accent (like a victorian cockney or something?!), then saying a stereotypical australian saying and then to seem more stupid says wait thats irish xD

  • That's the joke! :D

  • lol I know, people were asking what accent he was actually using so I thought I'd let 'em know. :)

  • im sorry but its nit german xD

  • "Wait that's Irish"

    "Your an idiot"

Yes he's an idiot, it's obviously German!!!!

  • he was trying to be aussie.. :P

  • lool funny, but thats not irish that is infact a 'cockney' but he says thats irish in order to make you luagh

  • Im a black scottish cyclopse!

  • that was not an irish accent

  • "wait that's Irish"

    "you're an idiot"

  • He uses an Irish accent to say an Australian phrase. lol Wow.

  • Tell me about it, whenever i am in america everyone pauses, gives me a little smile and then goes, "you're Australian aren't you?" I don't know who should be more offended, me or all of australia...

  • I'd more pity the people who have to ask myself. lol And really late response I know, but it just occured to me. lol Oh btw, I quite like Australian accents myself. They're melodic sort of.

  • LOL

  • hahahaha i dont think i've laughed so hard at scrubs!! "throw another shrimp on the baaarbie for meeee" hahahaha

  • you people are taking ths literally

the person who posted this knows he didn't have an irish accent, it's just that JD thought he did

  • He speaks in a cockney accent, then says a stereotypiaclly australian line.

Saying 'wait that's irish' was just to show he was being stupid and make it funny...he doesn't literally think that.

  • This is scripted it's a joke. don't blame the character, after all he provides you with hours of entertainment.

  • Yeah it was Cockney and Australian.

Definetly not Irish, i'm Irish. :P

It's just to show how much of an idiot JD really is.

  • ROFL that was umm cockney and australian :P i love JDs stupidness

  • actually xD thats australlian (Sorry for the wrong spelling)

  • haha love it

  • wat the hell he didn't speak irish at it was english bloody moron

  • It's a cockney accent, I think JD got confused...

  • It amuses me that people are freaking out about this. What amuses me more is that you don't understand that it's a JOKE. It's the reason why Cox says at the end, "You're an idiot." Finally, you're talking about us stereotyping you, while I'm sure you stereotype us (I've seen multiple comments calling us idiots, and one that claimed we don't understand that England doesn't make up all of Great Britain.) We're all stereotyped, so stop complaining.

  • Amen to that!

  • australians have the worst accent of all ;)

    i can´t understand them,for hell o.O

  • OI! wha the flamin mongrel ya be galling bout thare ya shiela! us aussie talks in the naitive toungues ya ere?

  • there was no irish in that at all.

  • That is defitatly cockney xP

  • "wait thats irish" HAHAHA

  • Comment removed

  • What's the matter govna? You think us American folks ain't gots no brains? Hahaha I love you got mad at this, you sound like a total douche. I mean do you not watch comedy shows? Everybody makes fun of stereotypes! So relax!

  • Lighten up!

    They're just stereotypes.

Just like the stereotype you highlighted when saying "why are you americans so fuckin stupid" (and your lack of a question mark after that statement made me question your intelligence anyway...)

Seriously. Stereotypes are a part of society that may slowly fade away but for now just calm down with a lovely cup of tea and everything will be fine.

  • lool

  • Funny, at least it wasn't a leprachaun joke.

  • DAMN PAUL HOGAN FOR THE "THROW A SHRIMP ON THE BARBIE" LINE!!!! forever are us Aussies plagued with that damn sentence:-)

  • we will never live it down! ;P

  • LMAO!

  • LOL.
