@Scalawag720 To Kelso, all the men are Daves and all the women are Debbies. This particular intern is actually named Debbie, so out of fairness, she is called Slagathor. the name must have stuck...
(you can stick my free +1 internet in a box and hide it under the Mackinaw bridge. I'll find it later...)
@HikoSeijuroXIII Then they're a pretty rare case that aren't representitive of the show.
The word guv'nor is still loosely primarly used in England, to portray a Detective Chief Inspector (or generally any rank higher) within the police force, in regards to criminal investigation units. Even they don't all do it. Outside of that, it's not all THAT common.
I'm illustrating that the use of the word 'guv'nor' and 'shrimp' in this context are incredibly stereotypical, in that it's not a common norm as usually suggested. That's what adds to the humour of this scene, that's the whole point. The fact that these stereotypical cases are so rare adds to the comical build up to the punchline. The humour is, J.D has no clue, because he's an idiot. He'll say the inaccurate thing.
You will sooner find a cockney using that very idiosyncratic phrase than an Aussie using the word 'shrimp' in an everyday conversation was my point actually.
@chrisreid800 Because you'd be amazed at how many people simply didn't get the punchline, at all, and NEEDED it explained to them. Those that don't, can take pride in themselves that they worked it out on their own, but apparently not everyone has that sense of humour. Hence comments like "what, I don't get it, that's not Irish!!
@Gorattin Exactly, this is just as funny as when he said New Zealand was not so far from Old Zealand. LOL, that even had a similar response as Dr. Cox in this vid when that guy said "are you an idiot?"
@Gorattin Exactly, this is just as funny as when he said New Zealand was not so far from Old Zealand. LOL, that even had a similar response as Dr. Cox in this vid when that guy said "are you an idiot?"
@AwhNoNotTheBees You're wrong actually, it turns out quite a lot of people did need it explaining. The punchline was obvious as hell to anyone with half a sense, but it goes over the head of far more people than you think. I was as surprised as you.
Whenever I hear "throw another shrimp on the barbie", I think of a Barbie that had an outfit made out of shrimp...is that just me? Am I just...nevermind. My brain is bizarre.
@doctorgriffith Oh Really? Well I'm a swedish nudist and my name is Bjorn. I always wear a funny hat with horns and ride a tall, blonde, swedish supermodel to work.
As an Aussie Living in South London I'm in a pretty good position to agree with Adam Hills "The Australian accent is of cockney criminals slowed down by the heat"
Haha, I'm actually Australian and he sounds nothing like an Aussie! Plus, that 'shrimp on the barbie' phrase is bogus, AUSTRALIANS DON'T SAY SHRIMP! We call them prawns, that Paul Hogan ad was a sellout.
Nah, it's from a 20 year old advertisement. A man called Paul Hogan spokesperson for a holiday company and was trying to get Americans to come spend their holidays "in the land down under, full of wonder". Just youtube "Paul Hogan commercial" and it's like the second one from the top. It's because of that man that Australians are forever plagued with that single line... Ahh well, everyone's got a stereotype and most people follow at least one, lol.
the last bit is saying off an old australien (Spelling), most australiens have a bit of a cockney accent. But yanks think there funny when hey attempt it but hey whatever makes you giggle.
None of the accents he uses are irish or australian.
He's doing an American attempt at a British accent (like a victorian cockney or something?!), then saying a stereotypical australian saying and then to seem more stupid says wait thats irish xD
Tell me about it, whenever i am in america everyone pauses, gives me a little smile and then goes, "you're Australian aren't you?" I don't know who should be more offended, me or all of australia...
I'd more pity the people who have to ask myself. lol And really late response I know, but it just occured to me. lol Oh btw, I quite like Australian accents myself. They're melodic sort of.

do you Remember when you could watch a video without having to sit through a commercial?
Remember when music videos were uploaded by users and not VEVO
Remember when all the info was to the right of the video?
Remember you could rate a video 1-5 stars?
Remember the famous yellow subscribe button?
Remember when the users controlled the site and now corporations?
Post this in every video and lets start a youtube revolution!
