It's amazing how other people tell people that lose a limb won't be able to do what they used to, they tell surfers when they lose an arm, they'll never be able to surf again, but they don't decide that, you do, if you believe you can't and you never try, then you won't know if you can, they told her she wouldn't be able to surf again and she got up and started surfing, always believe you can do something and do it, your the only person that controls what you do
My wife and I saw her in Honolulu as we were waiting for our Hawaiian Airlines flight. This was, I think, barely a year after the shark attack and she showed such presence, poise and grace because it was obvious that people all around realized that it was her and were staring at her. She flashed that great smile and went about her business.
Ever since she returned surfing after the accident, I think her nickname (or known as) now is the Soul Surfer!!!! :) I'm proud of you Bethany Hamilton!!

As a girl surfer myself i know the fear of a shark attack for i was surfing and a shark we later found out was less than 10 feet away. I was so scared and we didn't even get hurt. What you did was incredible! Your amazing! :)

I remember when Bethany smeared feces on the Kcf's church youthgroup van as a prank, it was pretty funny. This was a long time ago though and it was common for us to pull pranks like that at this particular church.
i love how she is so in love with christ and god. i think it was meant to be that that shark attacked her because she reached people that she might have never reached if it hadn't happened and she and her mom had been constantly praying to god the month before for an answer on a way for her to glorify him through her surfing. its a miracle that she even lived and now she is glorifying him through surfing. Then when they die, they will be in Heaven with Him which is so much better than any of us could ever imagine. So no, if you believe and live for Him, He will never leave you nor forsake you.

You must be really brave, and passionate about not only surfing...but your whole life. I have been to Hawaii when i was 17....i travelled all the way from Manchester UK. I had a go at surfing but my real passion is motorcycles. I love them very much, but do you know, if i had a bike accident as serious as yours, i can honestly say that i hope i could find the strengthxx

bethany to me you are a true inspiration now i am a surfer and i love it! i feel like i can relate to you because the first time i got stung by a manowar it hurt so much i couldn't stand it i almost gave up surfing but then i thought of you and noticed i have to keep riding the waves i love it and i have to keep trying but i have to say i was nervous but i knew you did it and you were more serious and you kept going so i should to!

Bethany is so amazing. Im an 18 year old surfer from Honolulu and I was attacked 3 years ago, nearly lost my left leg. i know how hard it is after being attacked, getting back in the water, pretty much having to learn how to surf all over again. If it wasnt for me hearing Bethany's story, i might not have ever surfed again. She has to be the bravest person i know <3

i love how she is so in love with christ and god. i think it was meant to be that that shark attacked her because she reached people that she might have never reached if it hadn't happened and she and her mom had been constantly praying to god the month before for an answer on a way for her to glorify him through her surfing. its a miracle that she even lived and now she is glorifying him through surfing. @ geosurfer1976. If those people who die tragically know Jesus, He WON'T leave them! He'll be with them through the tragedy and they will have His peace knowing it as they go through it. Then when they die, they will be in Heaven with Him which is so much better than any of us could ever imagine. So no, if you believe and live for Him, He will never leave you nor forsake you.
