@jebijash you didn't saw the HDG display it was turning around all the time cause of the south pole it's the same at the north pole but it's not aloud to fly over the north pole
@jebijash well if something were to go wrong with the airplane, theres not many airports at the southpole to land that big bird, in fact none! so i guess that does make it risky
during polar flight the reference is changed from "norm" (magnetic), to "true." while your direction may not change, the nd will spin around quickly as you pass over the pole.

pumapunku1 11 months ago
THATS NOT LATITUDE 0 LONGITUDE 0!
pumapunku1 11 months ago
@pumapunku1 Thats because its only 0, 0 at greenwich, where they reference longitude and latitude from
NTBushPilot 11 months ago
@NTBushPilot OK BUT THEY PASS OVER GEOGRAPHICAL LONG 0 LAT 0?thanks!
pumapunku1 11 months ago
@NTBushPilot Hi - Greenwich is Long. 0. Lat. 0 is at the equator, and Greenwich is much north of the equator.

I never heard Airbus A380 flying through South pole. I think maybe is North pole because most long range aircrafts flying through North Pole.

It obviously isn't a commercial flight - look at all the equipment in the cabin!

Wow. Get right over the pole and your 'heading' will change while you're flying straight.
apeppink 4 years ago 2
no because aircraft heading is based on the north and south magnetic poles which are not in the same location as the geographic poles

@Railer505
And even true headings are useless at the south pole, instead, they use grid degree references instead.
