Sure there is a possibility I could get hit in the face, but after 5 years of wearing a shield I still haven't had a major facial injury. When I played in high school my cage actually cut my chin and I had to get stitches, it is a dangerous sport either way.

You just need to grow up.  What I said was my opinion and personal experiences anyway.
