  • kenya is a modern country well most of it is i went there in 2010 im american an yes im white people should visit there nairobi city is very beautiful

  • man i hate the reporters voice

  • It would be better if the announcer could shut up for a minute. It used to drive me nuts watching the performances on VOK with non-stop uninformative chatter. Remember, the troops practice very many hours to be able to play the music for the crowds. Please, have some respect for the effort.

  • this reporter sounds GAY

  • For kenyans in diaspora i discovered watchkenyalive dot co dot ke for all kenyan tv channels live

  • Kenya had IDPS languishing in the camps and also a very huge domestic debt the last time i checked. Hope all is solved before marking 27th in pop and dance.

  • Damn!!!!!! waste of time and resources ..the most important thing is how the new katiba will help all kenyans....these are the rich kenyans showing their might, while the poor watch from a distant.....Bullshit!!!!!!!!!!! get down to serious business of nation building

  • IMO the best Military is one that never has to be used.

    Peace > War

  • @airhab "pacifism is a ally of fascism"... a well trained military like IMO could have really helped protect the black Muslims of Darfur, a atrocity they allowed to happen in the neighboring country of Sudan....

BUT THERES NO NEED TO WORRY ANYMORE, WE'RE TO LATE, THE BLACK MUSLIMS OF DARFUR ARE NO MORE, THEY ARE ALL DEAD NOW!!!

so bask in the glory of the IMO, i wont be.....

  • @diceyLee I respectfully disagree with a few points, Pacifism is actually an enemy to Fascism as it deny's Fascism a conduit (ie: violent fear mongering) in which to suppress the voice of a people. I never said a well trained army isnt an intelligent thing to have but it should be used just for the sake of using it like America does it should be used in a very last case scenario. Your argument about Darfur is self defeating as they were attacked and obliterated by there own governments forces.

  • @airhab ohh so that excuses the atrocities that they allowed to take place just a hundred miles from their country's boarder....

-- "Pacifism is objectively pro-Fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side you automatically help that of the other." - Geogre Orwell - pacifism and the war, 1942

"obliterated by there own governments forces." - Ya and thats not a 'last cause' - So IMO can have a Parade while people are dieing in NEED OF HELP!!

    have humility!

  • @airhab ... continue of quote from Orwell:

".... Nor is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present one. In practice, ‘he that is not with me is against me’. The idea that you can somehow remain aloof from and superior to the struggle, while living on food which British sailors have to risk their lives to bring you, is a bourgeois illusion bred of money and security..."

  • Very many of you know very little. Get back to your CNA Jobs & do not show how ignorant you are. Armed with the sense of importance that came with overstaying your F1 Visas you now choose to bite the very same hand that fed you and think you know better and are more knowledgable than an entire nation. Every time you open you mouths and speak with your fake accents remember there are millions back home who strive to make things better for themselves & are sure of the identity. PROUD OF MILITARY

  • @thedee254 Would you feel better if the over 3 million Kenyans in the diaspora were back home competing with fellow Kenyans for jobs in an economy that currently has an unemployment rate of 40 percent?

  • @thedee254 In 2009 alone Kenyans in the diaspora remitted $609 million (Ksh48 billion) to Kenya, which was the third largest source of foreign exchange after horticultre, and tea, but notably more than tourism. Remittance from the "CNAs" is significantly among the much needed credit to the balance of payment that is used to purchase the military arsenal that we are all proud of. Kenya's military budget in 2009 was about Ksh40.4 billion. Go figure.

  • @daddycliff. For your information i was among those that remiitted the $609 and i will not go about feeling high and mighty and talking down on everything Kenyan and Kenyans in the motherland! Respect our brave soldiers, Kenyans and offer constructive criticism when needed as opposed to being smug immigrants!

  • The measure of a good military is seen in Kenya! Unlike our neighbors we have not been invaded by another country nor is there any country in the region that can even dream of invading us. The military is well equipped by all means and ours is a highly rated disciplined force. There are too bozos on here disrespecting the force that has kept your mothers and sisters safe and sound while you enjoy the fruits of the Western countries that you fled to under the pretext of higher education.

  • I am not suprised by the hardware. most of the equipment is very old some from the 70's. corruption in the military means that we havent been able to equip our military well and coupled with tribalism..means that our military capability is compromised.

  • we enjoyued peace so much now we despise our military,a bunch of spoilt retards,u dont know y tz respects us so much we never dealt them a card.ma umbwa ninyi.in between uganda still cant afford boots 4 military wanatembea na gumboots za shambani sasa jua ikiwaka itakuaje.

  • we enjoyued peace so much now we despise our military,a bunch of spoilt retards,u dont know y tz respects us so much we never dealt them a card.ma umbwa ninyi.

  • does anybody know about fera movement odongo wen moi warned museveni not 2 bite more than he can chew,a counter militia blew up the main kampala barracks within 2 days, museveni alinyamaza.kenya is ranked highly even in the west moreso wen the sdlf in mt elgon was taken careof in days,a good military is usually one that has low in no.but mobile specialized units,it maintains dscipline and can last longer in battle, ethiopia has a large poorly maintained army weve tested them through OLF.

  • its pathetic 2 hear kenyans who know zero about their military history,we r good in proxy wars and thats y we enjoyed peace 4 so long,we have fought wars while kenyans dont know wats going u have 2 c kenyan soldiers in action 2 believe,do u know y OLF got funding kept the ethiopia army busy for so long?do u know their was a counter shifta from kenya that kept somalia in check and eventual crumbling, wat about museveni operating from kenya,or hosting spla and funding .

  • i hope these guys are not infantry men , bcos they are seriously over weight

  • @kevinoti no those are the generals......lol.they need to slow down on beer

  • What are the costs of such an exercise? How about settling the IDPs?

  • anyway bado kenya ni ye2.hoooooray

  • why would kenya go to war with ethiopia....with islamic expansionists and terrorists next door kenya is bound to close ranks with ethiopians....am glad to see the kenya military in a gud shape, infact the military needs to be strengthened...

  • I am very proud of the Kenyan Army..and will defend their record to the hilt :)

  • @siasabora they dnt have any record to defend. apart from blowing each other up in bars.btw do u know that a majority of the deaths caused in the kenya rmy are as a result of road accidents, due to buying useless chinese trucks and other equipment.

  • @madsc: accidents yu better blame Matatus n smooth Chinese no-pothole roads! On bar brawls yu know the truth the gals want Army boys juu they got 6-packs apana big tummies from MacD!

  • @siasabora ..i support u 100%. u and I know a lot these teenagers on u tube don't know. If you know what I mean.

  • @mngopa: Thanks!

  • i dont glorify war its just that i have nothing to be proud of when it comes to the kenya army.

  • Use the money to feed the poor . Kenya is not North Korea. The time of war and propaganda is over. The might that Kenya should be displaying is how to eradicate poverty, fight disease, fight illiteracy,. show , innovation and technology etc. These trype of activities shoud come to an end when the new constitution takes effect. Poor countries such as Kenya should use th money wisely, defend itself whenever is neccessary only

  • @chaimoto kabisa, well said, we should boast of world class universities, state of the art infrastructures,a well functioning educational system, an agricultural output 2nd to none, that is what we should try to work towards and boast about, not useless 1st generation obsolete military equipment,

  • kenya police stop killing uspects at cold blood../

  • NTV CREW,WILL U GUYS POST THE WHOLE CEREMONY ONLINE SO THAT THOSE OF US ABROAD CAN WATCH THIS ???????????????

  • KA is a professional army they were even sent to Bosnia and east Timo for peace keeping. we have professionals generals who studied from the best military schools in the world. check your facts people...

  • @legend618......war is learnt in the battle field not schools. It does not matter which scholl you attend if you don't fight a war you've not learnt a thing. US has been fighting wars since 1800's that is why they are so good at what they do.

  • @legend618 Even the AG was sent to East Timor so are you saying he is also a great man?????

  • KA military supremacy is without question legendary. It is the 2nd best standing army to SA Defence Forces...and no one knows this better than former dictator Idd Amin. He once spread expansionist rumours in the 70s...Kampala was would have served breakfast to KO KA Mechanized Units the KnockOut KenyaArmy! He stopped fooling around after he heard that!

  • @siasabora, KA might be good but you might be stretching it a bit when you say 2nd best. Think about the North Africans, and possibly even countries like Nigeria, Sudan, Angola and Ethiopia.

  • @benadede I wz thinking sub-saharan africa...but still Nigerian? Ethiopia? Sudan? with all the coups assassinations? maybe Angola is gud in terms of modern weaponry only coz they rich. Discipline wins wars not marauding soldiers. Our KA is exemplary, not perfect 99% good.

  • @siasabora I don't want to be judged unpatriotic but I have tons of skepticism on the status of our military. I don't get it when they cannot send simple signals to minnows like Alshabab, Uganda, Oromo Liberation Front, Toposa tribes men etc who keeps on violating our borders and causing havoc in Kenya soil. By the way, those military hardware looks ancient.

  • @mytime81 The military is under civilian control, and rightly so, and they cannot undertake any operations without an explicit order from our political leadership. Have you seen what happens to countries where that relationship is subverted? We have a lot of examples to learn from in our area. It seems to me that you are blaming the military for the weakness of our political leaders(you know what our prezzy's nickname is, right?).

  • @omera26: Presidents don't go to war, Armies do!

  • @siasabora did you even try to understand what I was saying?

  • @omera26. Lets say No I didn't. You said we've a weak presidency? and its to blame for a weak looking army? Yes or No?

  • @omera26 First know I didn't flag this reply. Yu've chosen to conveniently omit the following quote in ur reply '...blaming the military for the weakness of our political leaders(you know what our prezzy's nickname is, right?)...' why? hahahaha!

  • @siasabora The point is that the military cannot react to or deal with the situations that @K mentioned without the authority of the civilian/political leadership vested in the CGH, a certain Mr. Kibaki. Kibaki has chosen, for some reason not to authorise those actions which some people feel should be taken and, therefore, it's unfair to blame the military for not acting when it's not up to them to make these decisions. If there is a weakness in our response, it does not lie with the military

  • @omera26: I absolutely agree with you! The C-in-C could be calculating and patient esp placing our troops in the line of fire. Recall what happened to Ethiopians and Americans in Somalia? It is not lost on him or his national security advisers. Caution shouldn't be a weakness...fools get into fights, with no retreat or exit plans!

  • @mytime81 when you say the equipment is ancient...can you clarify. For example, what is it that we should have that you think we don't at the moment. Bear in mind the threats we are likely to face and our economic clout vis-s-vis our likely foes.

  • @omera26.....KA fly F5 fighters that US stopped making in the 60's. If you compare us to Somalia and Rwanda...yes we are ahead. Our military is as vulnerable as it can get. Our defense systems are so weak an enemy can fly into Kenya and do bombing raids and fly out unnoticed.

  • @'81 They have been sent clear messages in the past...that's why we have not been attacked! If they ever do they'll get the mother of all battles!

  • @mytime81 those tanks are Soviet era T-72 made in Ukraine

  • @mytime81 why should u be labeled unpatriotic for that, when those who instigated and encouraged post-election violence be labeled honorable. Until the common person has decent rights of property rights, can get access to water, electricity, technology and roads, can get a loan to start a business without going through dozens of costly paper work, until that happens and more the army in Kenya is there to serve and protect not the interest of mwananchi but of the rich tribal political elites

  • @siasabora...r u kidding? we have never fought a full scale war yet you say we are second best? Libya, Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Angola will wipe us out in a heart beat. Secondly fighting a war means money. Countries with oil can fund their wars for a longer time and by that effect Kenyans will easily surrender at some point

  • @goo1358 yep ur ryt, ths is usually a misconceived notion of kenyas superiority, the fact is, we still got planes other countries stopped using befor the cold war started.we have a very docile army with fat generals who have never fired a single shot in the entire lives, maybe when they dispute over taking off wth a woman from a bar, but thats as far as it goes.we have useless chinese weapons and artillery/ support equipment like trucks etc.kenya army is just as useless as it sounds

  • @goo1358: Yu forgot we destroyed an economy in a less than one week 3 years ago...and the military was not involved, in the destruction. It has taken Somalia over 20 years to achieve what we did in a month! We the best in demolition business!

  • @siasabora....yes and our unemployment rate stands at 60% that is why we left Kenya to seek better opportunities abroad. We are a third world. We can't even feed our own people. Excuse me but we have nothing to brag about

  • @goo1358: Check Mate! The point here is as @Chaimoto puts it we have the largest slum in Sub-Saharan Africa n proud of its flying toilets innovation...yet across the road wildlife receiving superior medical attention by KWS Vets than KNH n Anyang Nyong can deliver to Kibera n Mathare!

  • @goo1358 am very sure we cant even sustain a war wth acountry like ethiopia.

  • @siasabora what do you mean second best??? you mean by discipline or might?? If you are talking of might, then you are dead wrong...Ethiopia,Egypt,Libya,Algeria,Angola, Nigeria,Tunisia and Sudan possess weaponry that we do not...including F-16 fighter jets and Abrams fighting vehicles....Kenya has less than 30,000 Armed Forces personnel (excluding Police) while SPLA alone has 69,000 and Mig planes...by the way, Kenyan GSU best weapon is a rungu

  • @ngikemareu ... you seem to know alot about foreign militaries, but when it comes to the Kenyan Armed Forces, you miss the boat by a river.

I do not need to say more. Frankly it's unnecessary

  • @siasabora I am disappointed at you making such off the mark statement. What is so legendary about KA or do you have your own definition of the word legendary? How can you with any respect for the truth say Kenya's military is the second best standing army. I will personally send you or anyone else one hundred U.S. dollars if u can back up those 2 baseless statements.Angola, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Nigerian military are a millions times better funded, trained, equipt, battle tested, and battle ready

  • @MOYOwaBANTU :- I hear you! To me the definition of a good Army is not the size of their Tanks Artillery or fire power. I seek Honour, Courage, Commitment to Values of Citizens and absolute loyalty to the C-in-C!

Yu know the only good war is a war that never happens?

  • @siasabora again, your response humbles my initial assumption of the meaning behind your statement, You are right , the measure of an army is those principles you stated and the Kenyan military though not perfect does not have a record of harassment, terrorism, and vicious military coups against the people, unlike many of the armies I stated though in future Kenya with the help of EAC will have to gather forces to eventually bring order to Somalia for the sake of Kenyan overall development

  • @MOYOwaBANTU: Oh You Welcome! You are a true patriot!

  • @MOYOwaBANTU seems like you know very little about what goes on! Your posts are truly naive at best. Before having your orgy with siasabora realize that our military is not comparable to those countries you mentioned! We are far better! We are better equipped than Angola, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Nigerian & i think what plagues you is what does Kenyans who just went abroad had a burger & now think they know everything and ought to belittle everything Kenyan. Unlike you idiot i have served the military

  • @ Kenya military is better than the countries you mentioned .However Nigeria is far better and well equipt than our military. Our Army has 2 infantry Brigade, 1 artilary brigade, 1 armoured brigade, 1 engineer brigade.1 transport, .Infact the total numbe

including Navy ,and airforce is 30000.I served in Kenya Army too. 20 Para Bn in Gil gil

  • @acrt802 Then you would know the air force is not 30000 in number. I hope you guys understand that acrrt802 does not speak for the Kenya Defence Forces.

  • @thedee254 What a complete idiot, just because you served in the military means nothing, that is like saying because someone lives in a house, that means they know the quality of the houses foundation and structure, when its the study of architecture that teaches you that information, you are so simple minded, if you want me to know I can embarass you with facts of armament, military spending, and sophistication that easily shows Nigeria and Angola have a 10x more equipt and ready army

  • @thedee254 The problem with people like you is that you prefer emotion over fact, and you say you are a soilder, that is sad, any serious person in Kenya or in the more for a matter of fact, uses agreed upon standards of what makes a military more potent than another one, how the hell can you say Kenya's military is more equipt than Angola's do you even know what the hell you area talking about..you must really have a low respect for knowledge and information...

  • Who is this in WHITE?!...he sways too much!

  • show of might????? al shabaab are busy running riot in Nairobi and north eastern Kenya, Ethiopians busy violating our borders, Uganda busy grabbing our islands. we are a pussy cat nation when it comes to the military. no need of just having the military for parade ceremonies only, get these guys and those machines in to the battle zones.

  • Karuitha, I couldn't have put it better myself. Well said!

  • @karuitha we don't have to fight all the time to prove our "prowess". In fact, our restraint is one of the most admirable things about us, Kenyans. We always try and solve difficulties by talking and only engage in violence when we feel all other options are exhausted. We should be proud of that...it's one of the reasons why our country is not like those of our neighbours who pick up an AK at the slightest provocation. Beleive me when I say, though, kikiumana, those who provoke us hawataamini.

  • @omera26 so according to you, what is the best response when a group of marauding separatists from ethiopia and sudan calmly march over your home and rape your women and steal your property???

  • @karuitha ati carried out its drills in the dead of the night.lmbfao!!!for what??enyewe we have a very useless army, am more proud of our paramilitary than i am of the army, did u know that for u kuingia army u must part wth some tens of thousands of shillings??kenya army imekuwa ya watoto masonko sikuizi.those r usually the 1st 1z to scuttle off when trouble begins
