  • wow

  • Just unbelievable ...

  • ver stunning footage bro, there so nice they look like fantasy.

  • nothing supports 4K resolution, Even blurays only run on 2K resolution. IMAX n all run on 6K but they have to since the screen is so big, you see no difference anyways

  • @I3iiio

    I think you've been misled.

    Blu-rays don't support 2K. They support 1080p. 1080p=/=2K (Though really, they're only a few thousand pixels away. 1920x1080 vs 2048x1080)

Most films (actual film) are scanned in at either 2K or 4K to create their digital intermediates and digital masters. There are cinemas out there have 4K (and 2K) projectors.

IMAX is not a digital format. It's a 70mm film print, thus the resolution argument, doesn't really apply to IMAX...or film at all.

  • wow looks really awesome

  • How does the red feel anyway?

  • i dont know what else to say except, holy shit

  • Gay Music

  • RED ONE ROKZ!

  • Drool

  • beautiful camera

  • girls, the music sucks so much, awful

  • Insane...

  • i want one

  • That looked really nice!

I'm still waiting for the new RED Scarlet to come out. Waiting to put my hands on some new technology.

Excited its coming out, wanting it to come out asap as I'll know exactly how much it'll cost, but yet I don't since I wont have all the funds for it right away for everything I need.

  • too bad youtube cant support 4k res

  • what is 4k? the format?

  • 4k means about 4,000 horizontal lines by about 2,000 vertical lines of resolution ( 3996x2160 to be exact) The "K" refers to kilo, which means a thousand.

  • wow that's a nice resolution, thx for the tip bro, see ya.

  • @mrthomastoday Yes it can.

  • @mrthomastoday too bad it can now

  • @skateboarding4life12 To bad it is needless and not true 4K.

  • Looks amazing. Unfortunately, we are in a worldwide recession - i.e. I cant afford to spend $17,000 on anything but my bills. No one except a studio is gonna really appreciate it enough for them to spend money so I can make mine back. I rent my heavy HD equipment. Cost me $300 to rent a HVX200 for a weekend and that balances out in my favor when I do. Hopefully this will be a reasonable price for me to rent (if ever neccesary).Truth is most people cant tell the difference. But with Red...

  • im waiting for the scarlet myself, im hoping to get a whole setup for 4-4.5 grand when its all said and done

  • zomg, now i understand the price tag

  • ::creams his pants::

  • the only place you would need 28K footage is in the IMAX theatre.

  • imax is only about between 8 and 10k. (ha ha only, makes my xl2 tremble).

  • I read that IMAX is only 2k

  • no imax is between 7k and 9k as I am pretty sure. High end 35mm films are 4k resolution, and 16mm films usually are 2k, generally speaking, I am not an expert if film printing and telecine just know the basics.

  • I really REALLY need a red camera, I can't wait for the 28k one this summer

  • im just wondering, what the heck r u going ot do with 28k footage?

  • you do realize that the Epic 617 28K is not coming out until Q2 2010.... get the Red One as its a great camera -- I got mine with everything I needed for $30k -- pretty cheap. Once you get your red, you will get a full trade in value of $17500 for the body for the Epic. This would be the best way to go if you need the camera now as the first epics won't be coming out until this winter....

  • that is not going to come out until at least another year, not this summer. The red scarlet is coming out fall/winter of 09 for about 3k and shoots 3k. Plus the price of the 28k epic will be about 50,000 dollars, so that will require a large budget.

  • yes, unreal!

  • i don't even see this good

  • i feel like im there...

  • How much money did you spent on that camera, it's so e$pensive

  • Its a RED one, best digital camcorder in the world, only costs 17k

  • only

  • yeah good luck buying a 35mm like a Sony F-23 for 17k

  • Sony F-23 is has three 2/3" CCD sensors recording to 1080p 4:4:4 RGB on tape.

Sony F-35 is has one S35 sized CCD sensor and records 1080p 4:4:4 RGB to tape.

RED has one S35 CMOS sensor and records full 4k RAW sensor data to Compact Flash or Hard Drive.

F23 starts at $150,000 for the camera body, around $300k fully decked out..

F35 starts at $250,000 for the camera body, around $400k fully decked out.

RED starts at $17,500 for the camera body, around $50k fully decked out.

  • exactly RED is a much better deal, hands down

  • Looks exactly 40 times better as well

  • What looks 40 times better than what?

F35 or RED? You didn't specify.

  • oyvay!

  • holy canoli.

  • UNREAL!
