People need Social Security because of the lack of employment and health issues in our old age. Social Security isn't enough for anyone to live off of alone. It does however let seniors keep working part time and still contributing to the economy. It is a mistake to believe that people who are on Social Security are not working. If they could get health insurance for part time work than medicare wouldn't be the problem that it is.
35:25 society needs to shift into making every senior a teacher because experience is their capital and that is very valuable. retirement shouldnt meant disappearance. it should mean the start of a long period of injecting your value back into society.
okay? this seemed to go in crooked circles... the facebook chick annoyed me, i liked o'conner's argments against facebook, but she's gotta kinda chill about the disease things, learn to trust the scientists and their work. Robert Sapolsky inspires me... he made awesome connections with the wild. Barry...eh... kept on changing questions. John Hennesy was a riot, a perv too, he was just eyeballing the facebook chick... but overall, very informative on a veriaty of issues
Interesting but @ 29m - the widely quoted but entirely flawed causal relationship stated between diabetes and obesity "obesity has brought a huge increase in diabetes" - wrong, in terms of attributing a cause-and-effect relationship. Both are caused by a 3rd confounding variable, the insulinergic effect of western diet
It's frustating to hear people pontificate about the need to address Alzheimer's as though this was the subject of some deep mystery when it's the consequence of modern life
This discussion is filled with so some much assumption, shallow arguments and empty models it's almost nauseating to watch these so called IV league educated, yet supremely uninformed individuals make ass-talk.
If inflation continues and the dollar keeps loosing it's underlying value and ultimately crashes the economy, no more social security. That's all folks.
@HigherPlanes You still have the 2012 elections, the MAYAN CALENDAR, the trial in REVELATION 20.12, and your NEXT new life and temple , the new Jerusalem of REVELATION 21.2, and if REVELATION 21.8 is N/A

Sheryl Sandberg is a "tweener", i.e. "between" the Boomers and the Millenials? Uh, doesn't that make her Gen-X?

@HigherPlanes , maybe you should try to look up "IV league" before you accuse anyone of being uninformed.
