  • Unique idea, but I'm not sure if the music is fit and appropriate for the matter.

  • I like him in this movie so much!!!!

  • in the movie he did commit suicide in 1912 he was in charge of evacuating the ship, witnesses say that a crew member did commit suicide but it could of been one out of several crew members with Murdoch being one of them no solid proof though he was last seen trying to cut a line on a stuck life boat before he disappeared along with many others on the ship

  • YOUR VIDEO SUCKS!

  • I have such a huge crush on him. He has kids in real life, Thomas and Eleanor, and I am sooo jealous. ^_^

  • I believe the theory it was actually chief officer Henry T Wilde

who committed suicide not murdoch, since there are very few

witness accounts for him particurly at the end.......makes me

wonder about Wilde as he is very little talked about or portrayed

  • @balebonce did he also shot himself because he shot 2 passengers??

  • He looks so brilliantly hot it his uniform.

  • @maridia He does...swoon....thud....

  • Mr.Murdoch was a hero. He made all his possible for save the maximum of lives on this boat. That's not the true image of him in this movie but i have to admit i'm not indifferent ^^. (Sorry for my FrenGlish )

  • actually, no one knows whether he committed suicide or not...

  • Mr Murdoch was my friend's great grandfather, and it is true that he did not commit suicide. The family story is that he was the Titanic's wheel to the very end, my friend's great grandfather was a real hero.

  • it was the captain's fault the ship sank, he ignored iceberg warnings and pushed speed

  • @Gencturk92 Actually he did not ignore the warnings, It was not uncommon at the time to speed right through an ice field, What he did was perfectly justified at the time, The real cause of the sinking could be down to structural weakness, A fire that weakened bulkhead number 5, A miscalculation of how much slag was needed in the iron bolts, that weakened them instead of strengthening them.

  • @madigan360 well, according to james cameron's film, which i saw it again today, 95% of the reason to blame for the sinking was the captain. there the one's who are in charge of the ship, they command the orders.

  • @Gencturk92 I believe some aspects of the film are just for show, For example, Murdoch did not shoot anybody nor kill himself (At least there's no evidence to support that) I was watching a documentary not long ago that was investigating the real cause, It was determined the slag in the iron weakened the bolts and lead to the sinking, Also, We must have a similar sense of videos? Since I keep coming across you :P.

  • He did kill himself.

  • I love this song! I believe that ALL of the ship's crew acted with dignity and bravery while they knew that they probably would die at sea, which is a terrifying thought...and P.S I thought the movie's actor was cute too :)

  • oh he fell in to the water most likely

  • LOVE THIS VIDEO!!

didn't you have a thomas/will one? where is it? could you send it to me?

  • He did not committ suicide? really or what?

  • ya he is f-ing hot! dunno y maybe it's the uniform plus the face. i dunno wut the real murdoch was like but i just love the movie and everytime i c him i get crush on him!!

  • Murdoch is fucking SEXIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!

  • murdock is HAWT! <3

  • @silverstar3333333 yes he IS¨!!!!!! <3 <3 <3

  • somehow i think William Murdoch is the best!!!

  • i am scottish and i respect william murdoch

  • he did actually kill himself it was only hollywood who came up with the idea to make it dramatic in real life when the titanic's bridge plunged he was most likely sucked in through a window on the bridge section as it sank at around 1ft in 6 seconds.

  • well in the movie he did cause he shot tommy, but he didn't in real life.

  • Surviving eyewitnesses reported that he worked diligently until the end, and was seen alive in the water after the ship went down, but died in the water.

  • Fantastic video! What a great tribute to a great man.

  • love scottish

  • im scottish :D

  • Oh, it's been a while without watching this video, but now when I wacthed it again, I feel like making a tribute to William..

You're great at making vids, hon, I hope you know that ;) Also I love the song, even somebody said it's shit for this kind of subject! I think it's wonderful

  • I'm sorry, but this music is horrible. Teen shit.

  • wilde got onto a lifeboat

  • murdoch was true scottish hero

  • Might've been Officer Wilde or 6th Officer Moody that suicided. Neither were seen much. No one ever knew how Wilde died, so the movie got away with showing him in the water with the whistle.

Wished Murdoch survived in a lifeboat instead of that Hitchens guy (in charge of Molly Brown's boat) who was a jackass the whole time. He's a cool guy. Even though Ewan doesn't really look like the real Murdoch, he does have a really personable honest face and personality.

  • A Scottish hero.

    Scotland for Independence!

  • Nope, his body was never found.

    But he didn't kill himself.

I think it was Wilde that shot himself!

  • Was Murdoch's body ever recovered after the disaster? I know Astor's was, but never heard anything like that about Murdoch or Wilde.

  • From what I read, neither Murdock, Wilde or Captain Smith was ever recovered. Of course, there were a number of bodies that were not idenified because of severe injuries. This only added to the tragety.

  • This is a great tribute to a great hero!

    Murdoch is awesome!

  • They Should Turn , Stop , Reverse And DROP THE ANCHOR .. For Sure Full Stop...Right? :-)

  • maybe if they had put all the anchors on the front right side of the ship...

  • impossible to drop an anchor the water is to deep

  • yes the water is deep but at least the speed decrease :P

  • What the hell is James Cameron doing showing a bunch of lies about Murdock committing suicide and taking bribes? His family should sue. There is no evidence that this happened. Murdock was a real hero and this is disgraceful!!

  • @Angele101006: Agreed. Cameron's film not only bastardized Murdoch, but also a great portion of the crew and passengers who were, in reality, heroes. It's terrible when movies such as this one which lack historical accuracy become so popular that people start to base their knowledge of the event off of it.

Glad to know somebody else realizes this.

  • For the life of me, I still can't figure out why Cameron did this to Murdock. I wonder ehat the reasoning behind this is. One guess is that he did a great job of casting the characters of Murdock, Lightoller and Lowe to almost perfect look alikes that people believe this crap. Especiallt Lightoller, as the actor who played him was almost exactly like the real Lightoller, including being drop dead handsome

  • OlympicClassDandy

I listened to a commentary by James Cameron and he admits that this was made up for the movie and he did apologize to Murdock's living family. I still think it was a terrible thing to do to Murdock and he never gave a reasonable explanation for why he did this. What a jerk!!

  • i met the guy who played murdoch in glasgow today, hes the son of andy stewart.the guy who sung 'donald weres yer troosers' he was an absolute gentleman and took time to talk to me and my pal!!

  • Your logic is kinda strange though, barrow, you must admit.

By your powers of deduction no one can prove I didn't shoot JFK as I was in Texas at the time it happened.

  • IN the movie I saw that it was murdoch that shot himself

  • The song is so cool. Murdoch is sweet.hdgggdl

  • I'm sure there would have been quite a lot of officers and stewards on board the Titanic, most of whom died that night.

If all the survivors lsaw was someone in a dark uniform shooting himself that's no reason to pick out one man and imply it was him.

If he shot himself does that mean the ones who witnessed his heroics are all liars?

Whoever shot himself can hardly be called a coward. Faced with certain death in the icy water a bullet would have been a dignified way to go.

  • Come on barrow, a lot of people vanished that night. Not one survivor witnessed Murdoch committing suicide, so putting it in the film was cruel, total fiction and an insult to the descendents of the hero that died for others.

  • First Officer Murdoch rescued 4 people from my neighborhood from the Titanic.

For that he deserves enormous respect, not a knife in his back.

Oh, his birthday is this Saturday, February 28.

  • Murdoch is shown in the film taking a bribe to let a man into a lifeboat, later shooting a passenger, then committing suicide by shooting himself for being responsible for the collision.

    All complete lies.

Well done for this video. In his home town of Dalbeattie, Scotland, there is a monument to his bravery and a Murdoch Memorial Prize at the High School in his memory.

  • After the collision First Officer Murdoch assisted with the embarkation of passengers to the lifeboats.

This was witnessed by Charles Herbert Lightoller, the Second Officer who said so at two inquiries.

In a letter to Will's wife, he told how Murdoch was swept away when the ship sank.

Wireless Operator Bride, and passenger Archibald Gracie, both saw Murdoch trying to free a boat to rescue more of the crew and passengers when he was swept away.

RIP Mr. Murdoch, a true hero.

  • Hmmn. His story is such a sad one. Its kinda difficult to watch this and your other videos. When I saw Titanic, I had such a crush on him. Still do! Must be something to do with the uniform, sigh...

  • Yeah, must be the uniforms: I had a huge crush on him, too!^_^

  • same haha ;) !! x fab actor though :) x
