  • Mary Fickett will be missed. Lee Meriwether is a great actress, but Mary played the character so long. It was hard to see anyone else in the role. All the great ones have gone on. RIP

  • RIP MARY FICKETT

  • Excuse me if I say this but Myrtle was a peculiar looking woman. She reminds me of my former father's current wife's grandmother(I have stayed far away since 16) and we used to call her the "Old bitte" Sometimes the old bat gave unwanted advice just like Myrtle Lum did. By the time 78-80 rolled around, she gave to the community more, so she was tolerable more.

  • Mary Fickett will always be missed on AMC. She was fabulous as Ruth.

I like Lee Merriwhether, but Ruth will always think of Mary. Loved the old scenes of Ruth and Tad.....very special.

  • It's weird that a woman written to be as humble and modest as Mona gave birth to the biggest immature attention seeker in soap history!

  • @AdArmand But you have to remeber there are two side s to the gene pool, the mother s AND the father s. Also Ercia could have taken from one of the grandparents on either side

  • the backbone of the show are all gone that is what they need back good actors good writers

  • whatever happened to the original Ruth?

  • Mary Fickett retired from the show. The character is now recurring and she is played by Lee Meriweather (Barnaby Jones).

  • I just heard about the death of Eileen Herlie. The soap opera genre has moved so far from the days of great writing and even greater actors.

  • I saw this ep. when it first aired and it was very sad - but very well done.

  • I didn't see this episode but it I am suprised that Pheobe was at the service. I think the show would have honored the character's history by omitting Pheobe since there was so much bad blood between them. But alas, the writers don't think much.

  • but still, no matter the relationships between characters and people, you still are there to make amends.

  • @adelgado75 Phoebe had a good scene in this ep in which she justifies her presence and pays tribute to her rival. It was really well done and acknowledged the differences and yet the similarities between the two.

  • AMC handled her death very well. This was a very tasteful episode.

  • moving..

  • Very exciting
