At first you criticized (or teased Japan, so I argued ..... I don't remember "How", but I believe that Japan (pro-whaler) must fight when insulted with unfair and nonsense comments... @VivaEcoCultBusiness when we have a debate you need to be more specific than that. All of your sentences are very subjective of interpretations of actual conversations. And of course background of what's not said is also important. I really didn't mean to mistaken you for a female.

Well actually I never do. :) maybe you want more approval and respect from the listener because you think that's an advantage but I think sex of the speakers shouldn't be an issue. Than again its kinda impossble to avoid when its too obvious for some.. If SS had a beautiful blonde for the captain ..

That's a good question. But better question to ask is who is raising the issues of whale conservations and with what interest. That's the real campaign behind the fundings of SS. I can assure you that its not international politics of greed. SS is supported by scientific communities.

Actually, it's Japan which is supported by the "scientific communities". This is part of the reason Japan is allowed to conduct whaling for scientific research.
SShep on the other hand is supported by attention seeking celebs; antiJapanese governments and secret societies, PETA and other eco-terror groups, and finally brainwashed ordinary citizens including those children targetted by farcical campaigns like "Steve Irwin Day".

I think there was a French actress with PETA that wanted to boycott SKorea for eating dogs before that got an earful from SKorean government. Alf is just about the only Eco terrorists I know of. dokkiro, that's what I pointed out several times earlier. All Asian countries facing similar pressures now and in the future owing to propaganda about food preferences.
Rather than fighting over barren ocean rocks and names of seas politically mapped 400 years ago, Asian states need to establish an understanding on issues of mutual concern in their neighbourhood, including how to handle political/violent /etc assaults from non-Asian states over sustainable food preferences.

Show me eco-terror propaganda, and you'll almost always find a PR hungry celebrity. It used to be name actors who promoted eco-propaganda, even ones going through a rough patch with drug & alcohol rehab, but now retired game show hosts and film agents are getting in on the action. The Cove is braced to win ALL of the major Hollywood awards shows, Cannes too.

She makes one stupid mistake of calling Asian people stupid for buying products she is advertising on SKorean tv during a intetview with letterman. She commited her career suicide. Even for someone totally innocent like Molly Ringwerd in sixteen candles. She had to move to France. Hollywood just cannot make a profit on movies without Asian audiences. Bluefins are past history. They cannot stop killing the endangered because they are just too tasty and too profitable for fishermen. Sure they can make a show and prize them with trophys. But at the end they are the one who will suffer the consequence for their actions. Australians just experienced that with Chinese.

I only said that because they built concrete structures on top of natural beauty and polluted that place on top fighting over who owns it. I say its not Japanese but I say SK destroyed that place trying to claim it. The dokdo island belongs to no human. It's still Korean territory.

dokkiro, my impression is that you have been away from the fatherland too long to form some of those opinions you've been offering. in SK, Hollywood benefits from a what cannot be regarded as anything other than a colonial regime at the box office.
It's true that big budget Hollywood productions cannot make a profit without the Asian moviegoer, but nevertheless The Cove will sweep the documentary part of the awards season. Apparently, getting nominated is not enough of a propaganda victory.

The Cove sounds interesting but nobody will pay money to see that. @seseljsrs the problem is Japanese just cannot make a documentary film with a counter points of whalers. I think I can. Meg Ryan was already washed up when she made those derogatory comments about consumers in Japan and China, and whatever else she said. In fact, her unacceptable remarks followed some good-natured ribbing about "being reduced" to do promotion work abroad.

Yes maybe I have been outside Korea for long time but I still remember seeing Charles Bronson on SKorean TV ad from early 70s. Did you know that Mohammed Ali is still the most famous person on earth. You're actually suggesting Koreans and other Asians will not casually shrug off the awarding of The Cove as an attack on a foreign culture - Japan, but even go so far as to respond with a boycott?

dokkiro, I don't agree with your claim that nobody in Japan is capable of making a documentary presenting domestic opinion on the subject of whaling. If you look around youtube, there are many offerings from Japanese television and filmmakers, as well as amateur works from Japanese youtube users.
I'm not sure, but it appears you forfeited your interest in filmmaking to the producers of South Park, who you believe already did an adequate job of presenting Japanese opinion. Too bad that.

Even so, I am prepared to recognise the South Park episode, taken into account with the real "Whale Wars" program; biased news spots, and documentary length features such as The Cove, as representative of a new tide of antiJapanese sentiment and propaganda.

dokkiro, try again. It's stretching to conclude TOYOTA has a criticism one way or the other of South Park. The same goes with all of its other sponsorship deals with television networks and sporting organisations. TOYOTA is in the business of selling cars, not entertainment criticism.

I agree with you 95% Japanese will no longer hunt whales in the southern ocean while they are allowed to hunt minkes in their water. SKorea will get their right to do the same. This becomes a concern for minke in that region. I say Japanese whalers are not happy. Because they are stuck with minkes that they cannot market and advertise as fancy rare exotic meat or rare safe and mercury free. But do you think that members of SS is celebrating after losing their adventures? SS has done their job.
