Hey, im gettin a 4Runner for my first car, but I was wonderin could you give a little detailef review? Mainly like handling/body lean, fuel costs, and comfort?
@carfreak2795 , I dont own this car but my brother does and he loves it. It's very reliable,one of few Toyota models that wasn't affected by that whole slew of safety recalls in recent years. He averages 20 mpg in mixed driving and the car takes regular, so fuel costs are not bad at all by SUV standards. The interior is no Lexus but it's plenty comfortable. The handling and steering are weak points. This car is an off-roader, so it feels very tipsy when pushed. The steering is also too light.
@carfreak2795 im getting an 04 sr5 in a couple days, and have owned an older 92 4 runner years ago. even the old one i had drove like the new ones do today, very tight and squeak and rattle free.. if your looking at other vehicles in the same class as 4 runner, or other v6 SUV's, there isn't much out there that will come close to the 4 runner in capability, and long term reliability. thats got to be more important then 1 or 2 mpg, 4 runner is super tight and quite comfortable i think.
@obamallama100 , your friend is a moron for thinking a 4Runner sounds like a race car but this certainly doesnt sound like shit, either. It's got a nice growl.
@obamallama100 your friend was probly talking bout the v8.. ive got one and they sound really good and deep stock, change the exhaust and you can make it sound however you want, like a race car
my 08 fj has the same engine as my 08 4runner the fj sounds alittle louder, but i think its because it's so poorly insulated in terms of keeping road and engine noise out cause at 40mph and over you have to practically yell to talk to the person next to you
Dad has an 03 with same V6 engine... its torquey sure but can get a bit noisy at higher revs. Runs out of steam quickly tho past 4k. Also can feel gutless with a full load but i guess im kinda picky lol whenever i drive that car with 4 ppl aboard i wish it was the V8 model haha
@xoquixxoqafxo , no you're kinda right, actually. This car's towing capacity isnt exactly marveling and the V8 model defintely works better under heavy loads and is smoother. This car is really geared more towards off-roading, while the V8 is can also go offroad AND tow.
I was just surprised at how the V6 is basically just as quick in a straight line.
