Riots always result in violence and suffering. It is more relevant to investigate the causes of this riot, such as the brutal oppression of Tibet by China. Did you ever look at the human rights costs of a 49 year campaign of torture waged by the chinese government against tibetan civilians? 60 years of oppression, invasion, occupation. Many Han support the governments actions in Tibet and their actions against the Tibetan people. After 60 years a person just lashes out. It's not thought out. It's not a better place to live for most Tibetans. Not everyone is has an obsession with materialism and the accumulation of crap. Many of us are interest is getting the essentials and then focusing on inner development.

If the US had taken over China would you've have been okay with that at some point? Of course, you can't really know but it's likely you wouldn't have found that acceptable regardless of the government and its policies. I still will want my country back even if the CCp walked up and handed me a stack of money. It's not about that for us Tibetans and most people, particularly Han Chinese can't understand that. There are many ways to rationalize atrocities and humans have that down to a science.

The recent unrest in Tibet was not instigated by any Tibetans living ouside of Tibet, nor was it orchestrated by the Dalai Lama, as the CCP claims, rather it was just a spontaneous act by the Tibetans in Tibet.
A peaceful people who are oppressed in their own homeland, treated as outsiders, being told who they can and can't worship and follow, this continued for 50 years and still continues... it's obvious they can't tolerate it anymore. Violence was their only way to get the world's attention

Tibet is indeed autonomous now, with its defense and foreign policy in China's hands, and China has invested millions in Tibet but the tibetans are still discontented. Why? Because they want to re-establish their theocractic lamaism; and they also want an easy life with lots of wealth WITHOUT WORKING FOR IT. Other chinese can work but they (tibetans) want the benefits. It's not "communist revisionists" trying to convince us in the West that only poor innocent peaceful monks are involved in these protests. We don't hear about all the poor Chinese business owners who were attacked, killed, or had their shops looted.
Did the Chinese government overreact? Probably so...but there's much, much more to the story than just "government oppression".

The Tibetan Government-in-Exile is not propsing this.
If Tibet were autonomous, with its defence and foreign policy in China's hands, China could still invest in Tibet, but the benefits would be more likely to pass to the Tibetans.
Anon101 surely isn't expecting Tibetans to feel grateful for the Chinese invasion in 1950and everything that followed!

Although China is restricting journalists, Western media automatically assume the protests are 'peaceful' but obviously they were NOT. The are complete riots and were causing anarchy on the streets of Tibet. Also Chinese police were trying to restore order to streets but again the West automatically call it a 'crackdown'?! the Western media is just too bias to be trusted.

Riots always result in violence and suffering. It is more relevant to investigate the causes of this riot, such as the brutal oppression of Tibet by China. Did you ever look at the human rights costs of a 49 year campaign of torture waged by the chinese government against tibetan civilians? Since the chinese constantly attempt to obfuscate the issue, I doubt if anyone in the west takes chinese depictions of tibetans seriously.
