i bought that first Honey Bane 7" on Crass Records for .25 cents at a used record store in 1983. liked it a lot. still like it. have to see what she is up to music wise now!
Sounds more like X-Ray Spex than the You Can be You EP. I agree with the earlier comment that the latter, all three tracks, still sounds superb. And all for 65p.
I remember seeing this and went right out the day after to buy the single...and collected everything she did after that...I have become friends with her since this and she is fingers rossed going to make a come back with a new album (which i have heard!!) amazing belive me.. the early honey days will always have a special place in my memory and my heart..cnt beat em!!
I bought this fantastic 7" when it came out! Limited double 7" pack. In the days when the charts were so much more fun! LOVE Violence Grows. I gotta go play that now!
I remember I went on a school trip from Scotland to London (aged 15). We were allowed to have a wander about. I found myself in a record shop god knows where and bought one single because i liked the name of the band. - Violence Grows by Fatal Microbes. Look forward to hearing the new album.
I want to thank everyone for their comments so far, and let you all know that I have almost completed a new album that has a lyrically updated version of Violence Grows on it plus other new stuff that I'm sure you're gonna love! Thanks for all the love and support throughout the years. Honey ...
Even by the standards set in the psychedelic, glam and punk eras, I think this was the most sexual performance both visually and musically ever in the history of ToTP, more like something off a late-night music/video/gig show. Even sexier than Debbie Harry, sexier than Kate Bush and leaves manufactured tripe like the Spice Frumps standing, yet seems to have been forgotten, presumably as Honey Bane was an 'unknown' who became a one-hit wonder from the punk/New Wave/New Romantic era.
This is the song that brought honey bane to my attention and has done ever since, loved every thing by her befor and after this, honey is back in the studio doing new solo stuff in augst/sept 2008 cnt wait to hear that!!
Jeezuz... i saw Honey Bane @ Middleton Civic Hall, Manchester May 27th 1980 she supported the awful UB40, my mates mam was in the ticket office and got us 2 tickets for 50p each!!,,, ub40 were BOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey! You were in that one movie with Kathy Burke! The one about girls in prison. I saw that on BBC America or Sundance or something! I didn't know that. :) That movie was awesome.
I remember when you stayed up at our house Honey . You were staying at JP's at the time and I got yapping to you on the phone when you answered . You got pally with Caroline ( my sister ) and when you visited your parents house in Cornwall you stayed at ours . My parents couldn't get over your hair . Ive still got the signed photo BTW : - )
JESUS, who did this talentless kid fuck to get on TOTP out of nowhere ? ; Peter fuckin' Powell probably ( 'I can make you a star baby' )

* And, she started her singing career aged 13.
EMI signed her but she gave over publishing rights so she never earned any money.
She has 4 or 5 children, Zenny, Zephen [who I've met and is the same age as my brother] Phoenix + Zoey, and possibly another child.
Donna has gone through so much in her life, it's literally unbelievable.

She should write a book. It sounds like she's led a fascinating life.

She had a very public puberty, on vinyl and in the newspapers. She was famous for making her first single at 14 (the Fatal Microbes).

I went into a Virgin records shop to buy her 'Guilty' single and came out with this instead by mistake because of the idiot behind the counter.

Honey Bane was a femminist movement and her first record lable was on Crass records because of her femminist lyrics but none of you would know that

Honey Bane's first record label wasn't with Crass. She was in the Fatal Microbes before that. YOU apparently didn't know that, you dolt.
