Sucks that the current Mark 7 helmet that is currently in the game doesn't look as good as the ones on this trailer. Which strikes me kinda odd since they worked on the Dawn of War games and those helmets look awesome and imposing.
It still puzzles me up to this day as to why they decided to go with that design.
I want a game were you play as an imperial guardsmen, You have to stick with your squad, you gun sucks, you can't melee, and if you turn around you get shot by your Commisarr. Sounds like a good game to me

@spinsky1994 space marines are 9ft+ XD and their bolts are rocket propeled aswell lol. and lets put aside the tech here. a space marine with no power amour and a just his fists vs. a sc "space marine" would still win because the angles of death are WAY more dedicated. they fight and die for a man who died 10 millinum ago. sc convicts just want to get out of jail and to shoot. and are total red necks. the end.

Star Craft does takes more from Alien and Predator than it does from Warhammer 40k, but blizzard does rip off tabletop games excessively. Tell me is there a space battle system in Warhammer? I allways felt that was lacking from science fiction rts games.
I finished playing the campaign yesterday, and I must say it's AMAZING! *HOWEVER*, why did they remove the Killa Kanz from the campaign?! The vehicles are only set-peices in this, and I personally would've loved to have gone mano-a-mano against one of these. All the same, as a fan of 40k it's an 8.8/10 from me. :)
this is not the game we got... this one had a different main character and the one in the trailer is using unreal engine where as the actual game is on havoc engine... i dunno what relic did.. at 1st this was supposed to be a action RPG...

@SpawnofChaos2010 No shit a SM is better than a Starcraft Marine. The standard marine in Starcraft are supposed to be shit-tier soldiers. They're cannon fodder. Even though thousands of them would easily take out a single squad of Space Marines due to attrition.

but still, this could be wrong, starship troopers novel was made before warhammer 40k, the tyranids. as i said it could be wrong, but ive heard it was, in fact, created before. and that the tyranids got influenced by the arachnids. and then starcraft Zerg was influenced by both starship troopers, AND tyranids.
@MrBeardedragon Tyranids weren't really inspired by the Bugs in Starship Troopers. In the original book, the Bugs were highly intelligent. They had starships, they had plasma weaponry, they were far from the mindless drones of the movie adaptation's arachnids. The Tau are closer resembling them than the Nids.
If anything, Games Workshop drew inspiration from the xenomorph from Alien. Which spawned the Tyranids, which then spawned the Zerg
@SpectreGray the thing is warhammer 40k is a conglomaration of all the favorite sci-fi's. you can see parts of terminator in the necrons and as you said original bugs in the tau. also what they have done is introduced orks and elves (eldar are elves deal with it :P) into a sci-fi game which is why its so univearsaly loved by gamers around the world because it shows your favorite thing squaring off against each other.

Damn, this has the most 40k "feel" to it of any relic game I've seen so far, and their other stuff is bloody good. I just really hope they don't over-consolise it so it's nice on PC too.
@MrBeardedragon Relic has a huge fan base on PC from their long track record for making some of the highest rated RTS games of all time. It's hard to say how much it will sell on consoles because how many even know about Warhammer 40k anyways? There is just too many little kids who will just glance at this game and call it a gears of war or halo copy. As for how co-op works on PC like you said, there is LAN for that.

@koalabrownie there's no cover system, the game uses the same engine as darksiders, if you want one that might use a cover system then go for tau. Long live the emperor.
Either way I'll probably give it a go. Looks interesting. Wish the main enemy was something other than stupid Orcs though. So tired of orcs. Why not necros or dark eldar or something. Or even just Chaos guys.
@koalabrownie there ARE forces of chaos present, trouble is I cant seem to identify which traitor legion they came from, and I think the reason why orks is because like you they dont seek cover.
@Inquisitorcabal - Well hopefully if they come out with some expansions they introduce some differnet races to fight beyond Orks. Though I suppose in the shooter genre Orks aren't really that represented. The closest equivalent I can think of is probably the Bruisers or whatever they're called from Halo. Big monkey-ish guys anyway

My original post was in response to someone who said that this video looked like Starcraft when in fact it's the other way around since 40k pre-dates star craft by a number of years and if anyone drew inspiration from the other it was star craft from 40k not 40k from starcraft. Blizzard ripped of Games Workshop, Games Workshop ripped of Tolkien and Tolkien ripped off whoever.
Either way, Games Workshop came first so if anything Blizzard games look like their universe not the other way around.

@MajorFauxPas Warhammer 40K has been around since the 1990's. Maybe earlier, im not sure. THEY stole the ideas from that. I agree-Tyranids may have been based on aliens. But the rest are impossible. Space marines have always had chainsaws. Do your research before flamin', flamer.
While Games Workshop steals alot of ideas from others (Tyranids = Aliens, Necrons = Terminator, don't get me started on the entire Imperium's myriad of sources), Gears and Starcraft owe a great deal to the ideas in Warhammer in turn. I mean, "Chainsaw Bayonet"? Really? A hulking marine using a chainsaw to cut through a horde of enemies in a futuristic setting where there is only war? It's a bit easy to tell where that came from...
I sure hope you take the time to pick up your glasses and read my post again. I made fun of Gears with their "chainsaw bayonet" because it rips off WH40K, not the other way around.
An easy way to end the debate of Gears and Warhammer 40k is Games Workshop. They've been around much longer than Gears and created Warhammer 40k way before Gears. Further more if you look in the related links you'll see many more Warhammer videos, obviously. Find your way to Dawn of War, the first of Relic's work with Warhammer 40k, and you'll see that it was created before Gears. Which you like more is up to you. Also that Lord of the Rings Ork thing, orks are everywhere guys. Everywhere.

man i cant wait for this game. but in reality there's nothing wrong with ripping off from other people. if it makes a great game such as warcraft and so on, starcraft.
but please respond to this question i have. did the tyranids get influence from the arachnids from starship troopers? even though the movie came later, i think, the novel, came some time before. i think a guy once said that zerg/tyranids got their idea from the arachnids of that starship trooper franchise. true, or false?

@Bluedeviant well yea i know warhammer is a bad ass old game/what ever you can call it. i remember having it as a small hobby to paint my chaos space marines when i was still young :))
but still, this could be wrong, starship troopers novel was made before warhammer 40k, the tyranids. as i said it could be wrong, but ive heard it was, in fact, created before. and that the tyranids got influenced by the arachnids. and then starcraft Zerg was influenced by both starship troopers, AND tyranids.

@MrBeardedragon Tyranids weren't really inspired by the Bugs in Starship Troopers. In the original book, the Bugs were highly intelligent. They had starships, they had plasma weaponry, they were far from the mindless drones of the movie adaptation's arachnids. The Tau are closer resembling them than the Nids.
If anything, Games Workshop drew inspiration from the xenomorph from Alien. Which spawned the Tyranids, which then spawned the Zerg

@SpectreGray the thing is warhammer 40k is a conglomaration of all the favorite sci-fi's. you can see parts of terminator in the necrons and as you said original bugs in the tau. also what they have done is introduced orks and elves (eldar are elves deal with it :P) into a sci-fi game which is why its so univearsaly loved by gamers around the world because it shows your favorite thing squaring off against each other.

Damn, this has the most 40k "feel" to it of any relic game I've seen so far, and their other stuff is bloody good. I just really hope they don't over-consolise it so it's nice on PC too.

@MrBeardedragon Relic has a huge fan base on PC from their long track record for making some of the highest rated RTS games of all time. It's hard to say how much it will sell on consoles because how many even know about Warhammer 40k anyways? There is just too many little kids who will just glance at this game and call it a gears of war or halo copy. As for how co-op works on PC like you said, there is LAN for that.

Either way I'll probably give it a go. Looks interesting. Wish the main enemy was something other than stupid Orcs though. So tired of orcs. Why not necros or dark eldar or something. Or even just Chaos guys.

@Inquisitorcabal - Well hopefully if they come out with some expansions they introduce some differnet races to fight beyond Orks. Though I suppose in the shooter genre Orks aren't really that represented. The closest equivalent I can think of is probably the Bruisers or whatever they're called from Halo. Big monkey-ish guys anyway

@starcraft2own - Eh? W40k ripped off Dune not Star Wars buddy. Where do you think they got the God Emperor from. Let's see what concepts are in WC/SC that are in WFB/40K but NOT star wars. Putting a warrior's spirit into a warmachine, Avatars, bug-like enemy, humans as inferior tech-wise to another race, marines in big armour, ballistic weapons instead of lasers, etcetera. Just because they're sci fi doesn't mean they ripped off Star Wars guy. Hell Lucas ripped off Kurosawa samurai movies.

My original post was in response to someone who said that this video looked like Starcraft when in fact it's the other way around since 40k pre-dates star craft by a number of years and if anyone drew inspiration from the other it was star craft from 40k not 40k from starcraft. Is SC a direct ripoff of 40k? No. Thankfully there are no stupid orcs. But are there more than a few things in common? Yes.

@xXL1VE4IDE4LSXx - Just because you only heard of it doesn't mean it's not been around. I 'm not talking about Dawn of War. I'm talking about the miniature game it's based on. W40K was released in 1987. Warhammer Fantasy in 1983 whereas Warcraft was 1994.
Blizzard ripped of Games Workshop, Games Workshop ripped of Tolkien and Tolkien ripped off whoever.
Either way, Games Workshop came first so if anything Blizzard games look like their universe not the other way around.

@MajorFauxPas Warhammer 40K has been around since the 1990's. Maybe earlier, im not sure. THEY stole the ideas from that. I agree-Tyranids may have been based on aliens. But the rest are impossible. Space marines have always had chainsaws. Do your research before flamin', flamer.

While Games Workshop steals alot of ideas from others (Tyranids = Aliens, Necrons = Terminator, don't get me started on the entire Imperium's myriad of sources), Gears and Starcraft owe a great deal to the ideas in Warhammer in turn. I mean, "Chainsaw Bayonet"? Really? A hulking marine using a chainsaw to cut through a horde of enemies in a futuristic setting where there is only war? It's a bit easy to tell where that came from...

An easy way to end the debate of Gears and Warhammer 40k is Games Workshop. They've been around much longer than Gears and created Warhammer 40k way before Gears. Further more if you look in the related links you'll see many more Warhammer videos, obviously. Find your way to Dawn of War, the first of Relic's work with Warhammer 40k, and you'll see that it was created before Gears. Which you like more is up to you. Also that Lord of the Rings Ork thing, orks are everywhere guys. Everywhere.

If anything, Gears of War is a stupid, ripped off version of Warhammer 40,000. The Space Marines are the original badasses that predate your precious Marcus Fenix and make him look like a boy playing at being a soldier.

@Protadin013 Haha really? You're really stretching for an argument. Unfortunately yours doesn't have any merit whatsoever. Warhammer didn't invent the Space Marine. The space marine has been used in popular fiction since 1937, notable examples include the hit movie Aliens, Starship Troopers (the novel), and The Long Watch, all which predate Warhammer 40k by quite some time. Even so, that wasn't my point. I was refering to the gameplay mechanics.

@BigBossInc Play the game first before passing judgement. Also, in the 1937, they were referred to as Galactic Marines. The term Space Marines wasn't coined until 1939 by Robert A. Heinlein, one of the 'Big Three' authors of science fiction, alongside Arthur C. Clarke and Issac Asimov.
