Fantastic performance in a small venue.still the raw energy that made the band a massive force in rock.Superb quality, many thanks to ubackdoorman for posting. The first album is the best for me.Others brilliant, but the blues tracks do this album for me
@PinknessOfFloyd I think because Robert and Bonham already knew how each other worked so they already had chemistry. And JPJ and JP would always see each other at sessions. But its amazing how all four of them just had infinite chemistry.
i believe this was just before/after their first album came out. not yet the rock gods they would become, playing live on mainstream pop shows. even their uk tours at this time would probably consisted of local ballrooms, YMCAs, working men's clubs etc., i.e. on the established circuit but not necessarily the big theatres of the time, usually overnight van drives between venues at opposite ends of the country
The music almost doesn't go with the video, it seems surreal. The era was so teeny bopperish and they were sitting front row on the floor to Led Zeppelin like it's some local high school band.
Robert must have been tired or had a cold. His voice is kind of off and he's not singing a lot of his usual high notes for this song. But he still sounds great.
@fizbin321 He was abut 19/20 here his voice was still developing. In 1973 his voice fully developed. But you could see in 1970 he was hitting those notes. I like 1968-1970 Robert plant, his voice was so fucking raw.
@Phenomenon58 He actually had the same power in 1972 too. It wasn't until 73 that things went downhill. The three prior years of wailing damaged his voice, and he also got a series of vocal box surgeries during the 70s that ruined his voice

Before musicians ruined music with auto tune and digital instruments. You just can't match this

Man, today's "digital musicians" just can't compare to this, they just can't hold a candle to this
