I don't agree with their policy in putting animals down which are taken away but they do make some great work.

Yes, and it's all about money-madness and easy money earning. The governments can change this and, for example, oblige children on school to follow lessons on animalwelfare and ethics. Our country is the only one who has a political party with 4 seats in our government which only aimes at animalwelfare. They banned calfs in cages, chickens in iron cages, some furfarming and some other things. I hope other countries follow but there's still too much which need to be changed and it goes too slow

Another good example; our 2 largest supermarkets sell now meat from uncastrated pigs though it's ridiculous that it's more expensive than 'normal'meat. But in contrary of what many people think uncastrated pigmeat does not taste different. Castration is thus unnecessary and cruel and needs to stop.

Holland has always been an exceptionally forward country on so many issues. I live in one of the worst, Denmak, they are shockers with factory farming and mink production. As you say, it should be COMPULSORY for all children to learn about animals, what they eat etc. Difficult when most parents, teachers , governments are themselves animal cruelty supporters.

Oh yes, I did. I love mushrooms and some weeks ago I found a very large spongemushroom here in the forest. Though they are rare I couldn't let it stand and have cut it oof but left the roots so it can grow back.

What's fungus? Another kind of mushroom?

I'm crazy about soyabeans and tofu too, especially the Indonesian recipes are so tasty.

It's sad that farms don't want to improve the conditions of animals. They have the money but just are too greedy and seem to don't care about it.

Oh good! yes fungi are all the other things growing in the forest. You have to be carefull though as some are poisenous.Most supermarkets sell them today. Yesterday i put all kinds of vegetables, fungi and mushrooms in a loaf tin and baked it in the oven. Delicious !

arafel--I tell my friends who won't go vegan or vegetarian ... to cut back on their meat intake. The best way is the Chinese Stir Fry way...90% Stir Fried veggies & 10% meat...which can gradually be cut down to 95% veggies & 5% meat. Vegetarian at that point is easy...and healthier. I personnally fluctuate between 95%, 98% and 100& vegetarian.

2)Take a dog; he knows for sure when he has been naughty when hes been chewing on your shoes. Scientist have proven that even fish know stress and have intelligence like dolphins and Koi-fish. Many people consider and animals just as animals and as products without intelligence and without knowledge about their present situation. Just because animals can't be as cunning and mean as humans and cant make nukes it does not mean they don't feel or don't think in a way similar to ours.

1)Animals have are spirited beings and they know feelings like we do. It is proven that their senses are much stronger than ours; smell, sight, the sensitivity of skin or nerve system. That's why I believe that animals who experience abuse, or situations where fellow animals are slaughtered, they experience it even more intense than we do. Many people like the Native American, the Aboriginals, the Hindus and Buddhists consider them as spirited as humans.

Thank you for your decision, mine utmost respect! I'm not against eating of meat but I hate the way people abuse animals. I love meat too but though I knew there was animalcruelty I still ate meat now and then. But I started to feel quilty more and more and also responsible for their suffering since I ate their meat. It's still difficult to be vegetarian and I still miss it now and then though vegetarian meat, like sausages, gets better and is almost as tasty as real meat.
