  • so good

    lol

  • he isn't even LOOKING where he's hitting the ball.... amazing. love Roger's backhand

  • Great shot! Works for Federer, but I wouldn't copy it. Federer gets away with it because his wrist is so strong and he can turn that powerful wrist over at impact, but the average player cannot.

  • perfect control of the shot... hm, hitting the ball at exactly the sweet spot of the racket. In my opinion one handed backhand is somehow superior to two handed backhand, especially the way RF carries it out.

  • his head stays completely still through the entire motion - perfection folks

  • one handed backhands are sweeter to watch.

  • beautiful!

  • i can do it better..... if I was federer...

  • Shhh ... genius at work ...

  • I asked my friend if you could put topspin on a backhand, and he said I was crazy.

hah, time to rub it in his face

  • Of course you can put topspin to your backhand. It's not that hard but of course you cannot compare our topspin backhand to Federer but as a Tennis player, you can learn to do that. It's very common. I think your friend is crazy for saying you cannot add topspin to your backhand. Even average kids can do that. Now creating a passing shot like Federer... yes that's when I say you're crazy lol.

  • perfection.

  • i have a problem with my backhand no matter what i do i always slice the ball when its a backhand it was like that ever since i started playing tennis. i get pissed off because then the person im playing cant get it and that ruins the whole rally

  • roger has a very good backhand with alot of power behind it but i still think his is the 2nd best the best for me is his team mates, wawrinkas

  • Pete Sampras' backhand is better!

  • LOL what?

  • i got his racket!... (same model)

  • is it true that some say its not easy to use?

  • I've used one before. It's heavy and has a small face.

  • Well Not Exactly, Its not hard or Easy,Well its more easy :P Its not hard to learn! :D

  • Superb but in my opinion Tommy Haas has the best and the most beautiful backhand in the world!! :)

  • the only person who has a single handed backhand better than federers is gasquet

  • and gaudio

  • and me

  • just woke up

  • I don't know about who really has the best one hand backhand. I mean obviously they all have superb backhands. Federer, Gasquet, Gaudio, Haas, among others. But if you look at their strengths and weaknesses, they are pretty much different. Passing shot wise, Federer is by far the best out of the list. And then clay obviously goes to Gaudio. Power and down the line backhands go to Gasquet. Cause I mean if you look, Gaudio's backhand isn't amazing on faster courts same as Federer on clay.

  • @daigunder35 In top?....Yes...

    back? No.

  • @daigunder35 i absolutely disagree with this guy, wholeheartedly. Roger's backhand was built for variety and thus maybe not as clean as Gasquet. Gasquet cant do a drop shot or slice to save his life during a match, so his backhand cant be on the same level as Roger.

  • @XrenegadeZ Totally agree with you. It has way more variety than Gasquet's but isn't as consistent. When Federer was at his best, his backhand was nearly as good as his forehand. People just don't notice how good it is because he doesn't hit winners as often with his backhand compared to his forehand. In fact in most cases his backhand plays a vital role in setting up the forehand winner.

  • @daigunder35 without the elegance of roger

  • @daigunder35 Stanislas Wawrinka (Federer's swiss companion) has best 1 hand backhand in the tournament

  • @beckalazio As far as backhand drives- I'd definitely agree with you. Although, Federer has more variety with his slice (which is one of, if not, the best in the game) and he can handle deep balls really well. Tough choice!

  • @thehunto1 yes friend u are correct best shot in HIS game... I'd have to say that the best shot in actual tennis has to be Rafa's angled short cross forehand, with that banana shaped curve. Don't get me wrong Federer's slice is excellent but it doesn't have the capability to be a Winning Shot

  • @beckalazio -i meant it was the best slice in the game.

  • @beckalazio yeh, i agree. wawrinkas is amazing to watch in person. its so pretty yet so dangerous

  • @daigunder35 nah go fuck gasquet federer owns this technique

  • @daigunder35 OK,THX 4 INFO

  • @daigunder35 actually wawrinka backhand is considered the best one handed one

  • his arm looks like its gonna break

  • do you want to learn how to use the grips or do you want to know were to find them?

  • money!

  • his grip is between the eastern and the continental

  • hey i'm new at tennis and i was wondering if u could explain what"eastern" and "continental" mean? i'm on my schools jv team but i want to be on varsity badly

  • continental grip: slide the part of your hand between your thumb and forefinger down the side of the racquet (not the face where the strings are) thats continental grip. Turn your hand slightly left on the grip so that your knuckles are on top of the grip. that's eastern. I've played a one handed backhand continental and eastern grip, eastern is much easier because the way your hand is gripped on the racquet, it's easier for you to make a good flat contact with the ball.

  • just wonderful!!! it's a pleasure to look Roger playng a backhand

  • what grip did he used?

  • looks like eastern backhand grip with one hand. O_O

  • hey it looks like ronaldinho's no look pass! xD. geniuses are all like this?

  • perfect

  • its also the reason why he has 13 majors AND counting

  • actually that's his forehand =D

  • i know- his backhand is awsome, but i if he is paying against nadal, his backhand often breaks down and not only on clay

  • Yea, cause nadal hits with a huge ammount of topspin and with a single-handed backhand like federer its very hard to hit high top spin balls

  • he gets sooo much upper body weight behind the ball though, its really hard to compare the two backhands in my opinion.

  • Ele deixou a outra mão no bolso o_O

  • it looks as though he caught this one a little late

  • I wish I could hit a top spin backhand. I can only hit flat shots and slices.

  • great how hits it on the rise, uses the pace of his opponents shot. racket back early and he meets the ball while it still has pace. its almost like a full swing half volley. perfect form

  • yup,it verry har to hit like that the backand topspin is by weak poin at tennis...but federer makes everything look so easy.....

  • james blake sucks

  • completely straight head and back

  • i know how to do twist serve but sometimes it FAILSSS

  • lol rogers left arm is skinnier than mine

  • so?

tennis is a game of timing not shear brute power

  • no crap... just ask james blake haha

  • just as james blake....and who beats blake all the time...federer

  • Who needs that left arm anyways? Just be able to lift 1000 lbs with the right arm and you are set.

  • What if someone cut your arm off, while you're high and almost asleep, walking in a dark highway?

  • what?

  • yeah, tennis is much harder then it looks....it mainly takes feel, but it also takes strategy on what type of spin you want to put on the ball at a certain time

  • you can call this perfection

  • You can call Gasquets, even better then perfect can't ya then?

  • yes, i would call gasquets better than perfect...or at least better than anyone else

  • gasquet's is not as graceful

  • Yeah, Gasquet has great backhand but Federer's shots are so much more fun to look at because his technique is virtually straight from a textbook. Gasquet's shots looked too forced. Don't get me wrong though, Gasquet is a very talented player, but Federer's game has some strange sort of beauty that you never really saw from any other player. There are other players that hit the ball so cleanly like Nalbandian, Davydenko and Miloslav Mecir, but to me I think it is Federer's whole body too.

  • Gasquet´s topspin backhand is quite a bit better. But overall is Federer´s backhand a little better. Becuse he uses his backhand more wisley.

  • Guga Kuerten's timing is better for this shot. That's perfection

  • Yeah, right; the pros said the same when he won Roland Garros...

  • federer is a technical based player which means he focusus on spin and acuracy more then power. although he uses power aswell

  • look at his arm, it doesnt shake even if it comes to the contact with the ball! nice

  • GASTON GAUDIO'S BACKHAND THE BEST !

  • he and Gasquet most beatiful backhands in the world

  • Technique at it's greatest

  • elegant yet powerful backhand.

  • Roger Federer backhand is not as powerful as Gasquet, Gaudio, Kuerten, Wawrinka, or Calleri. Because his backhand doesn't land deep and if you hear Roger Federer's backhand sound he doesn't make that good sound as he does it in his forehand.

  • elegant, technically perfect! That's Roger! I doubt about the 'powerful' bit though, but whatever, his is the greatest backhand ever!

  • i think that the one handed backhand mostly depeneds on the grip, the way you hold your racket

  • So does every other stroke in the game... Continental leads to flatter or slice. More western is more topspin. Eastern is flat or topspin, with possibility of slice.

And serve is always continental or eastern backhand, but people are stupid and use forehand grips and think they know how to play tennis.

  • see the power of wist, awesome

  • wow!

  • his technique is damn near flawless! awesome rotation and follow through

  • beauty
