I was just in Yellow pine picking huckleberries last weekend. I have been up the trail that takes you from the airstrip up to hennessey meadows and even own a geocache there called shindaiwa. I would love to know where the tub is. Do you have coordinates for it? I saw this video and now I just have to be able to say I got there.
There's good fishing in Johnson Creek but it's all catch and release. As for the bath tub, there is a trail on the east side of the runway, about midway, that will take you all the way there. Just be respectful of the land. Hope anyone that's gone there enjoys it!
I been flying for 35 years now as a professional mostly bush in alaska and helicopters down in the Gulf of Mexico. You did just fine. I would like to fish that Creek. Some day
It is probably the easiest strip to land on in the mountains. In fact it is so popular you need to keep on your side of the canyon and keep an eye out for other traffic. Been there but I never made it to the tub. What are the GPS coordinates for the tub?
The hot tub is southwest of the airport. I can't see it on Google Earth so I can't give you Lat/Longs to it. As I recall, there was a hiking trail that started on the west side of the runway, at about mid-field, and it was about an hour's hike from there. Good Luck.
thats one nice strip...we have in vrsac(LYVR) one strip long about 1000 meters...and we are flying there with piper chayenne, cesna's 310,172 and 152...nice school,i am finishing it now...had nice time in serbia...
